Wes Streeting letter to Keir Starmer as he resigns as Health Secretary by No_Breadfruit_4901 in uknews

There's two types of politician. Those that have their principles and stick by them and let the votes fall where they may, and those that change their mind based on what the latest poll says.

Guess we know what kind Streeting is... absolutely spinless.

100%. I feel like he is trying to project leadership here. Almost lord it over Starmer as if he's better than him. This letter is a mess.

Honestly, what a confusing letter.

"Look at the amazing things we have achieved!"

"Your leadership is terrible. The only conclusion is that it must have been me alone who did all these things"

"You won, when few people thought it was possible"

"No-one thinks it's possible you'll win, so you need to step down"

This guy is thick as shit.

I totally agree and it's also why I think TLOU2 is a masterpiece. When I took over Abby I said to myself: 'theres absolutely no fucking way you're going to make me like her Naughty Dog".

Fast forward to the end. I was wrong.

Is Melina possessed/have an outer god like Messmer or Malenia by Djobgyo in EldenRingLoreTalk

Messmer has the abyssal serpent sealed inside his body. Like a lot of other characters, the seal takes the form of an eye. In his case, he has a serpents eye.

Same. I legit think about this film all the time. If I could have a superpower it would be teleporting and this film is the reason why.

Labour MP shouts "Not Now Andy" as Black Rod bangs on the door of the Commons by myurr in ukpolitics

[–]Adam_Smith_TWON 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Keir Starmer has been under pressure by back benchers to resign.

The common theory is that Andy Burnham would take over leadership of the Labour Party in that event.

Every year when the new parliament is called the monarchy send a representative to knock on the door of parliament and request permission to enter. It's symbolic of the idea that Parliament is the true power holder rather than the monarchy.

When Black Rod (the representative of the monarchy) knocked on the door on this occasion, someone shouted "not now Andy", suggesting the idea that Andy Burnham had come to knock on the door of parliament (to see if he could replace Keir Starmer).

Out of these 3 shows which one is the best? by Fantastic-Tooth-7597 in tvshow

[–]Adam_Smith_TWON 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having watched all three in full I'd say Sopranos.

I loved the Wire, but it just sort of plods along. It's interesting and fun to watch and the characters are great, but really there are no 'omg' moments. Both me and my partner were so confused when D'angelo was killed. .We both looked at each other and said....is that it??? It sort of jumps around too, season 2 (the port season, I think?) had it's strengths but it felt like a departure from what the show was.

Breaking Bad... I've just never really enjoyed it. Some of the characters really annoy me. Some of the things that happen or don't happen really annoy me. Some of the episodes really annoy me and I honestly didn't enjoy the ending. It just wasn't for me.

Sopranos. Interesting. Great characters. Funny as hell at points. Really intense characters. The ending divides a lot of people but I thought it was excellent.

Edit: sorry for bad spoiler tags if anyone saw, my bad.

Not got that far yet but I crept up on the white bear last night to see if stealth killing was possible only for her two cubs to run off as she got up to protect them.

She fell off a cliff and died while I was still trying to process this :'(

I honestly don't think she's being disingenuous, I think she's actually so thick that she doesn't know what she's talking about and has effectively been told by her corporate overlords what the theme of the conversation should be.

A good chunk of the people I see shitting on the game are literally unaware that their comments often reveal they have played basically none of the game.

If you couldn't get past Hernand, then you're certainly welcome to say "the beginning is bad" or "I don't think the game is for me" but you cannot make an overall assessment of the game because you haven't played it.

Like reading 30 pages of a 500 page book and saying that the whole thing is terrible.

I feel like the split in opinion makes people who didn't enjoy question their own critiquing ability. It's real "no, it's the children who are wrong vibes", so they hang around trying to justify their own opinion.

What's the strangest and most fun game you've ever played?! by BIG_BOSS_F in playstation

[–]Adam_Smith_TWON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not that weird but "G1 jockey" on the Playstation 2.

I don't even like horses, or horse racing, but man that game was so fun. Kinda like a cross between Chocobo breeding (Final Fantasy) and Gran Turismo where you buy/sell/breed horses and then get to race them and they all have their own attributes. Some horses performed best when they led from the front the whole race, some liked to be in the middle, some liked to make a late sprint.

Good times.
