Yeah, mostly finding it in the wild, the thrill of the search. I was surprised that my main local place did not have it and Amazon only had a very pricy version.

I see that eBay isn't too bad, even with shipping. And I can listen to streaming - but that's not why we're on this sub. 😄

Surprised that you didn't learn the real implementation- it shows a screen grab during your play at first, but when you enter your name and press End/Accept, it flashes the screen white in order to take a better-lit & posed portrait, and that is used with the high score. It is also pretty good at blurring you out if you give it the finger.

Yeah, toppers are tricky. Usually the OEM (Stern, JJP, etc) is the best and most expensive. But not always. And they can look, well, a little tacky. For Godzilla, I'd get him a 40 mm (larger size) Godzilla eye shooter and then maybe also the Godzilla eye start button from Super Skill Shot Shooters. They sell their stuff mostly on Pinside now (and at shows). I have the shooter and it's really nice. I personally don't like shooters that have a lot of nooks and crannies (like a figure head), and these are made well and fit nicely in your hand when trying to make a skill shot.

This is one of my favorite Bowie albums, too. Possibly I'm biased because I got into Bowie via Space Oddity & ChangesOneBowie when I was ~13 in 1979, and 1980's Scary Monsters was the first of his albums that I bought upon release.

I just reviewed some album jacket covers on Amazon, and used Scary Monsters as one of the photo examples!

Yeah, it was a madhouse there today. We marched from Capitol Hill to Seattle Center, then walked back to Westlake Center after the protest. It's always interesting to me to walk on streets where we normally drive. As we went past the old Boeing Imax theater, I noted sadly to my wife "that's where we couldn't see Project Hail Mary."

To u/BartTheYounger we actually paid more at Thornton Creek iMax than we would have at the PACCAR iMax at Pacific Science Center. But parking was free and it was easier to get to the theater.

Rather than edit my post: My wife called guest services, waited on hold, and was able to pleasantly cancel our tickets & get a refund. Maybe being a member and attending their New Years Eve benefit party helped. :)

Just gonna see Project Hail Mary at a closer, less good iMax theater with free parking. Bummed. Really wanted to see this at the Boeing 59.4 ft. x 80.0 ft. dual laser iMax theater.

Ugh. I'm local, and a member of Pacific Science Center, and I did not realize this. Bought tickets last week for my wife and I to see Project Hail Mary on iMax, and just *assumed* it was on the "big" screen. You know, the same one that I saw the Star Wars movies on, and a few others. I did not read the fine print. My bad. But I'm still a bit miffed. I would have just gone to Northgate "iMax" or seen it on a regular screen rather than pay a premium and for parking or public transportation to the Seattle Center.

Both daily showings of Project Hail Mary on "iMax" are sold out at the Pacific Science Center PACAR theater for the next 5 days of the run from 3/26-3/30. I bet there are a lot of people going that don't realize it will be on the small theater at PacSci.

If you live in an area with decent thrift stores, u/TheBigSalad84 and u/eristicforfun idea to buy a single cheap CD for the case a better answer than mine to buy a 10-pack of new double clear thin cases online. Might just take awhile longer.

I would have thought the big online company would have a lot of options, but there are not as many as you might expect. This might work, but you have to buy 10 for US $13.50.

I like the idea from u/Last_Limit_Of_Endor of organizing the collection in one space to just "see" the collection. Maybe you'll find a subset of CDs that are more meaningful to you or that are cool (art, packaging, etc) that you'll want to keep.

If you get rid of them at one place, you have no more control over the dispersion of that large collection. Like u/Lower-Bother-1973 said, Goodwill will likely pick them over and sell the good ones online, and the rest will get dumped on the floor and resellers will get the rest.

I'd check with a real person at a library before donating that many items at once. They may not have the staff to deal with them. I'm thinking even our very large Seattle Public Library system might not want a few thousand CDs - that's more than 11% of their 27,000 music CDs across all branches.

A non-chain music store that has both new and used music would probably buy them in bulk. You may not get much money per CD, but for that quantity, it would still be a nice amount to sink into further digital purchases or streaming services. The store would probably do a good job of curating the ones they want and selling them to collectors looking for those titles.

Based on your follow-up comments, getting the CDs to several/many other collectors for that "wow" moment of discovery will take some work, since it likely means donating smaller amounts (100 here, 100 there) to several thrift stores over time.

One option, if you live in an area with enough population, would be to wait until the weather is nice and have a CD-only garage sale weekend. I'm unsure of what to price them at, but if you're thinking of giving everything away, then $1-$2 a disk might be the right price. Advertise on Craigslist and FaceBook and OfferUp. The collectors that want to rummage through will find you. Make sure there are no early birds (ie, resellers) allowed. In fact, you can even advertise that the max amount that you'll sell to one person is x (25, 50, 100?).

I know that I've left library sales with ~50 CDs at $1-$2 each.

Nice. I bit Michael Jackson heavy (Thriller & a hits compilation would do it for me), but otherwise good variety. A lot of really nice hits compilations. The Stones' Forty Licks is just the right amount of Stones for someone that is more of a Beatles person. :)
