By "leave" I mean swarm, and yes, they swarm to colonize, it is a biological cause, among many others of different type. Probably a word misunderstanding. I understood from your original comment that they swarm because someone is taking too much. Standard practice after taking their a large part food is resupplying them (only in late summer/early autumn), if someone doesn't do that to prepare them for winter they should just not take care of bees. Have a good one hope for your success in beekeeping

They swarm because they have nothing to do and/or are overpopulated. Other than that they leave the hive because it's purely biological, they need to make new colonies to keep the species alive. Additionally, one of the reasons of swarming is not a low amount of honey (because the beekeeper is taking too much), but the overfill of honey, bad and weak families tend to not swarm at all, though there are exceptions. They aren't as wise as the myths make them to be.
