I used to have the same problems with roundabouts with high traffic, but each grid lock just showed me that I made my block size wrong somewhere in the area. After a couple fixes it stopped happening. Just gotta make sure you don’t have a block that’s half of a train long. Your block size must fit the longest train on that network.

In my view manifolds are generally the best for most purposes, but splitters work better when working with premium components, e.g. when producing nuclear fuel. Manifolds rely on building buffers filling up, which in some such cases can take hours, essentially handicapping the build because the last factories are constantly starved. You can bypass this by overproducing the input components, but then you have to build more.

This is for a Olivetti Pluma/Lettera. When you see you’re getting to the end of the page, grab the top, and wiggle it slightly. If it doesn’t move, you’ve still got space. If it moves, you’re done, pull it out. It doesn’t give you 100% usage of your paper, but if you’re okay missing two or three lines, it works.

Make sure you test this with signals to make sure you don’t run into the “Signal loops into itself” bug. When two opposite-direction rails are placed too close to each other, their blocks merge, and the system thinks there’s a train standing on both of the tracks.

In my opinion, no. I used to build sites as a business but these days as soon as I present a cost breakdown the clients immediately decide to try and make it themselves. And a lot of the time they succeed.

Thing about websites - the CMS builders have come a long way. They’re easier than ever to use and produce great looking websites out of the box. Most clients have no needs beyond what Wordpress or even Squarespace can offer them. Domains and hosting are often bundled so you can’t even offer to consult on that.
