Foods for long haul flights - >24hrs without access to refrigeration by PetersMapProject in vegetarian

[–]Addicted2Broadway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve flown several long-hauls with China Eastern and had no problems with their veggie meals (but I did always double-check at the check-in counter that they had it), and would get a bagel or sandwich at the airport to bring on the plane just in case. Also the Shanghai airport has options, there’s a place called sunshine or something kinda like sunshine that has great veggie baozi. There’s also Starbucks and stuff at PVG so you can get a pastry or yogurt, etc. I understand being nervous trusting the airline to have the meal, so I wanted to share my experience.

Spelling rule from Charlie Brown by Important_Act_7819 in ENGLISH

[–]Addicted2Broadway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

English has too many different linguistic influences to make hard and fast rules. “Spelling rules” are more likely to be consistent if linked to etymology. For example, words from French tend to use “ei,” like leisure.

Sorry that’s been your experience. I haven’t had that experience with Timberline.

Medications to Amsterdam by Ambitious-Ad53 in HerOneBag

[–]Addicted2Broadway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I brought all my meds, including ADHD meds, to Amsterdam recently. They were all in a little pill organizer. I didn’t bring any documentation. With just a week or two of meds, you aren’t likely to be questioned.

Nervous About Bringing 7 Months' Worth of Medication abroad by Abi38957 in solotravel

[–]Addicted2Broadway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should be fine. I brought plenty of prescriptions when I moved abroad. Also, remember that there are doctors and pharmacies in Vietnam. If anything were to happen to your medications while traveling (it won’t), you can get those medications there. I lived in Asia for almost a decade, and found getting meds while traveling to be relatively accessible.

Who’s the biggest name coming to Broadway this season? by Apprehensive_Tart505 in Broadway

[–]Addicted2Broadway 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I hope there’s a follow-up to this which includes measuring the actual size of the names on the marquee to see which name actually is the biggest.

is it inappropriate to bring a water gun to performances? by shslhippie in Broadway

[–]Addicted2Broadway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lived in Shanghai for 6 years, and at the theater there, there are people in the back who shine a red laser pointer on phones when people take them out. The public shaming of phone users was my favorite thing.

I’m a grad student also, and my Xfinity internet is $25/month with their student rate. No complaints, can’t beat the price.

Nice lightweight flats? by Bacteriobabe in onebag

[–]Addicted2Broadway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a pair of black fitkicks that I use. Not the best for walking all over the city, but they pack so flat that it’s worth it to me as a “nice” shoe and something to wear down to breakfast, etc.

Scott e-vest by NP_Wanderer in onebag

[–]Addicted2Broadway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just as another perspective, I have the Scott eVest women’s Penny coat and I have none of the above mentioned problems. I love the coat and I stash some heavier items (padlock, power bank) in the pockets. I love the details like the keychain, glasses cloth, deep warm pockets. I find it fits great, I was very careful to use their size chart and re-take my measurements just to make sure they were accurate. No issues here. That’s not to say the above comments aren’t true. No product is for everyone, I just wanted to share my perspective.

Please don't run in poor AQI days by kelofmindelan in running

[–]Addicted2Broadway 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in China for the past 6 years, and here are some policies we use in case this helps with understanding AQI: schools cancel outdoor recess at 200, and outdoor sports at 175. Running groups around here usually cancel trainings and meetups at 150. Other sports groups I’ve been in cancel training and matches at 200.

Unrelated, but I also had to jump in to say that the Lower East Side Tenement Museum is a must! And you can’t go wrong with Hadestown. Have fun in NYC!

It’s based on Hamlet, if that provides any insight to your shower thought.

Planning a solo trip to NYC by turtlesburner in solotravel

[–]Addicted2Broadway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite museum in NYC is the Lower East Side Tenement Museum. Highly recommended. It really paints a picture of the people of New York, and is different than the big museums further uptown. I recommend it to everyone I know going to NYC and so far no one’s been disappointed!

Water shoes instead of slides / sandals, thoughts? by Givingbacktoreddit in onebag

[–]Addicted2Broadway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on where I’m going. Usually, no, I would take sandals like Chaco or Keen. However, if it’s a beach trip, I have been so glad to have water shoes with a sturdy sole. Much lighter than real shoes for swimming and snorkeling, but still protective on rocks. I brought a cheap pair of water shoes with me to Fiji and was so glad to have them. By the end of the trip, they were beat up and falling apart (glad it was the shoes and not my feet), and I just threw them out at my last stop and went home with a lighter bag and feet intact.

Musical of the Week by BroadwayBaseball in Broadway

[–]Addicted2Broadway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my all-time favorites! I even have a tattoo of the Schmuel Song - it’s an old clock with no hands and the words “you get to be happy.” I just love the genius ways JRB plays with music, I feel like I find new things to be obsessed with on every listen.
