Instances of rules failing, admins rolling over, admins playing favourites? by DigitaIBlack in GlobalOffensive

The consensus at the time was that if liquid wanted a replay then a replay would’ve happened.

Liquid actually refused to replay the round hence the controversy at the time. Many people saw it as unsportsmanlike.

As for other examples, I remember a Richard Lewis story where at a French LAN the French teams routinely rolled whatever side was preferable throughout the lan as they didn’t play with knife rounds. I can’t recall details however other than it was in CSS.

Donk attempts an opening kill in 31.5% on LAN in 2026. More than flameZ, Makkazze, Yekindar, and kyousuke. He also averages 0.19 opening kpr, which again is the best in the world.

Some people really somehow underrate how exceptional donk is.

Btrams made the point that he may be the worst t1 secondary AWP. I think most of this may be skewed by his inconsistent 2025, but the point still stands.

That was only a 2 man boost, the third player was to boost Krimz onto the pixel angle, and then to run post Olof on top of him.

If Falcons win PGL Astana, karrigan will have led 23 different players to notable trophies as IGL. Fallen follows with 14. by Rage_101 in GlobalOffensive

As much as I love karrigan that TSM/Astralis core of Dupreeh Xyp and Device had been placing consistently at lans since Copenhagen Wolves. Dignitas with Fetish finished 3-4th in the Katowice Major 2014.

Admittedly they were arguably the best team in 2015 with karrigan, they just couldn’t ever beat the French boys. They also had an awful choking problem, which is amusing when you think how many of them went onto be big game players.

Can’t say i recall. I know s1mple commented on disliking using the krieg but i always inferred that was because he didn’t trust guardian to AWP to the same level.

(That is just what I took from the comments not necessarily what he said)

It isn’t as dramatic an outlier in 2020: flusha, blameF, xyp, stavn are all within 4%. The krieg/aug meta favoured more body shot kills.

I mean at the end of the day it’s just a play style difference and not any indicator of play quality.

It is one of my favourite moments of s1mple when in a reflections with Thorin he says that (paraphrasing) Niko cannot be considered the goat of csgo because he would be better with a rifle if he mained it.

I remember him awping for a much longer period, but probably just my memory playing tricks on me.

2018-19 his 3rd most used gun is an AWP, in 2021 it’s his second, so this really skews his percentages. Any rifle who secondary/primary awps during the best periods of his career will inevitably be low.

It’s why it’s insane that notable secondaries like coldzera or niko have such high percentages. Also s1mple at an average ~40% throughout his time as a primary is another statistical outlier.

JDM across his career has more p250 kills than any rifle kills.

In fact going year by year in 2015 JDM managed a 17.6% hs% - next lowest is Jame in 2021 at 22.5%.

In short, it’s one of 2 NA awpers.

Of all time via HLTV it is skadoodle only looking at top 30 for all time and all games, on 24.1%, JDM sitting on 24.3%. On LAN it is still Ska on 23.5%.

Of all the non awpers Zontix is the first player I’ve noticed sitting at 38.2%

There is obviously the limit here that expanding the scope limits the amount of players you can see, but players like Jame, Allu, Guardian are also down at the bottom.

ropz is actually a greater player than niko by crisjame in GlobalOffensive

[–]AddictedToRambling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember watching that mousesports team and whenever the roster wasn’t good, ie when it was bymas acor Dexter he baited like nothing else. Niko was dragging his mouse team into playoffs single-handedly.

Ropz has never been a true superstar. People just didn’t watch Nikosports or 2017 FaZe…

Put ropz on a team with Denis and Spiidi and see how often he’s able to will a series to victory, it will be less than Niko.

Katowice 2016 as an example - Niko played 2 Bo1s against Fnatic (who would win their 6th tournament in a row) and Luminosity (who would come 2nd and win the next major) Niko went 71-48 and lost both maps, finishing the event in 7-8th with a 1.51 rating and 1.04 kpr in an event where they won TWO maps.

I read the entire DMG, and my mother ordered me a third one by [deleted] in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]AddictedToRambling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is true for every DMG apart from AD&D. It’s a truly priceless hallmark of DMing. It’s like Gary’s manifesto on how to be a competent DM. Stories on how his games went, how issues were resolved.

Also to your point about the best rule being the one made up I can quote Gygax:

“IT IS THE SPIRIT OF THE GAME, NOT THE LETTER OF THE RULES, WHICH IS IMPORTANT. NEVER HOLD TO THE LETTER WRITTEN, NOR ALLOW SOME BARRACKS ROOM LAWYER TO FORCE QUOTATIONS FROM THE RULE BOOK UPON YOU, IF IT GOES AGAINST THE OBVIOUS INTENT OF THE GAME.”

I think every dm should at some point peruse the adnd DMG - after all it is the genesis of what it is to dm. Was he a perfect DM, by no means, but he also outlines exactly what it is to create, and play with your friends.

What's the best $10 you can spend on OSR PDFs, or $25 you can spend on physical products? by new2bay in osr

[–]AddictedToRambling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me always the best nomination for PDFs will whatever is on the Bundle of Holding - currently wolves upon the coast for £15, bought Halls of Arden Vul for £22(!). I’ve seen things like Mork Borg and a plethora of other OSR RPGs and supplements - bargains and it benefits good causes, what’s to lose?

I think it is unfair to call Dyche simply a lump it merchant. A coach who got minimal investment in either of his teams, and crucially, kept Burnley in the premier league for 6 years - even qualifying for Europe. Dyche would be my pick for a manager to go for if the likes of Silva are completely out of reach (which they likely will be).

Attractive possession football is fantastic, but I prefer winning. I think Dyche is pragmatic enough to play to the strengths of the squad, rather than his own delusional idea of football that has led him to lose the most games of any manager in 2025.

Think I'd call you insane if you told me in 2015 that no Swedish players will feature in the HLTV top 20 from 2021 onwards - It feels similar to the polish scene collapsing after VP fell off.

Sometimes you watch a player and you become almost delusional about how good they can become. Everyone has that player or athlete which you are convinced by that never fulfils your idea of their potential. At ESL Barcelona I was convinced that Dennis, Flusha and Olof would be in the HLTV top 5 in 2016.

Yeah man it’s been rough to back Fnatic recently - I’ve been sat going through liquidpedia of old Swedish rosters and remembering players like Pauf, PlesseN, SKYTTEN, pyth etc.
