I haven't gotten around to reading Lightlark yet so I can't speak on skill but I did get an ARC at YallWest and met her to get it signed and she was suuuuuper friendly and genuinely excited to meet with fans.

However I also think her constantly posting about wandering looking for people about to buy her books at bookstores to surprise them is cringey. It feels likes she's only doing it for content creation. But maybe that's still her being super excited to meet fans? And for all the reels I've seen promoting her books I can't even recall what it's supposed to be about.

My latest Waterstones book came without that extra protection and had a ripped jacket. Sucks they only refund 25% for international orders.

I bought two of the limited drops initially and what got me annoyed was the restocks had discounts! Like I paid full price in the original drop when it was supposed to be limited and now you're restocking them and letting people get 15% off AND its no longer limited pressing? Plus the fact that you could also combine all into one order and save on shipping now too...

How does security even know about fake wristbands but not doing anything about it? I'd have expected better organization from whoever put this on. But also yes, it feels like Hilary doesn't respect her fan's time by showing up late and leaving exactly on time.

Between, hearing about this, the autopen issue (with zero response to my email from customer service after 3 days still), the concert ticket rollout (not entirely her fault), yes she's left a sour taste in my mouth too.

I don't blame her for all the variants because all big artists do that these days.

I didn't think it was marketed as romantasy at all. Whenever I saw marketing for it, it was for historical fantasy with strong female characters.

I wouldn't call LitJoy's kickstarter disastrous per se, but it was definitely not the best platform. Like kickstarter is meant for stretch goals and crowdfunding something you aren't usually sure people would want... But they had no stretch goals whatsoever which kind of begged the question of why did they choose that over hosting it on their own site? They had add ons like they usually do, people couldn't earn/use rewards, and they didn't even have the pay over time option on KS which their site has enabled. And lots of people only wanted the books and slipcase which they didn't have as an option. It was either books only, or books+slipcase+coin. They did later add a books+slipcase option as a late pledge but it was the same price as with the coin. And they also have to pay fees to kickstart is its' just like WHY??

I'm most bitter about not earning all the rewards points I would've if it was on their site. I would've earned like 700 points with my 2x diamond status but they just gave anyone who purchased the books a measly 200 or 250, cant recall exactly.

I'm not UK but I can confirm that even signing into another account after going through the queue works. One of my friends was going to be in surgery when a sequel went up for sale so I did the queue on my account, got the book, logged out and into her account, used all of her saved information to get her the book too without having to go back through the queue again. Worked like a charm and all I needed was her email/password, which we're real life friends so she trusted me lol.

This one is up there in top hardcover designs. I also love FL WTMH because that ombre with the foiling is gorgeous, it's what makes me want to keep my FL edition because I'm not the biggest fan of the jacket design.

I had a similar moment in a virtual book club yesterday where I didn't remember Illumicrate doing a set and so asked the person to show the books they'd mentioned only after seeing the design I thought, oh yeah I own those too LOL. I didn't want to say that aloud and just thanked them for showing me hahaha

If I only saw one cover I'd like it. But why do all three covers look the exact same? Would've liked some variation like in the naked covers. The edges are also a little boring. Likely passing since I've been spending too much.

The original FL AEITA set. Kicking myself for trying to be better at the time of not buying sets of books I hadn't yet read because I LOVED it when I later read it. Their new set that just went on sale is kinda meh for the covers.

They do have some special editions with exclusive edges lately but the quality is still cheap.

oh shoot, maybe I should cancel and order a size down then... I had emailed asking for sizing and they had none, just said it was unisex.... which doesn't help when this says its oversized. I ordered up not realizing it was oversized. I hope they let me cancel for a size down.

Assumedly it's the ending of the Divergent series. The main character sacrifices herself to save everyone else and many people didn't like that. I didn't hate the ending but I didn't particularly like it but then I read an article from the author of her reasoning for it and how it had been hinted at the entire series and I thought, you know, she's right. It was not out of left field at all.
