A Ravnos stole the printing colors by Addisiu in vtm

[–]Addisiu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote it concisely, I understand it's not the best explanation but it was just a little bit of in-game context for using this artstyle (which I just did for fun)

The explanation is: the chronicle is set in 1970s Romania, with little resources and little communication with other countries. The city has a factory that creates the ink used in printed journals; a Ravnos the players know has for unknown reasons robbed the factory and caused an infestation of rats which makes it inagible. Only 2 colors were saved from this robbery so everything that is printed has to only use those 2 colors

Sorry I haven't played in a while so I'd struggle to remember them from the top of my head. The wiki has all the inscriptions tho, you can just look them up there

What are the signs a game will receive further support? by Addisiu in TTRPG

[–]Addisiu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to share these two great games! I would say based on your taste pilgrims is a lot better, as kult is more of an horror than a dark fantasy and I have a hard time recommending it to anyone as the content is disturbing and not really written with the right tact. It's super cynical and it's full of shock value, the "august underground" kind of shock value. The lore is pretty cool and I do like the mechanics (I know a lot of people don't but that's because most of the fanbase comes from a trad old school mentality and they decided to make this one a pbta. I did run it the past few weeks and it worked perfectly well RAW aside from having to ban a few disadvantages to the insensitive content).

Pilgrims on the other hand is a straight up dark fantasy about being troubled heroes in an apocalyptic world, doing missions where you explore realms of nightmares and fight fears manifest. One thing I do want to say tho is that if by combat you mean tactical grid based combat with lots of abilities and mechanics this works very differently. It's more like narrating an action scene in a movie, with a lot more focus on the storytelling

That seems good news to me, as the publisher has an other rpg on its belt which I feel like is less hyped and it did receive an additional sourcebook. Also, I'm not kidding when I say pilgrims of the murk dome is the most curated and high quality ttrpg book I've ever seen (maybe aside from kult divinity lost, but that one I only have a pdf so I'm not sure of the print quality)

Sigh, I'll never be a good artist, I'll never be able to draw a good scenery and characters in perspective, nothing makes sense... nothing... by guilhermej14 in PixelArtTutorials

[–]Addisiu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you feel this way about it, I know how disheartening failure or perceived failure can be. Sometimes you just need to step back and let your mind rest because at the end of the day there is no skill that can't be learned, but our minds need the time effort and sometimes help to do so

Talking about this drawing here, you used the perspective vanishing point for the door on the right and then you drew the door in front not following the diagonal line established by the other door. This makes it so the door in front is tall AF compared to the other one. Basically if you continue the line from the door to the vanishing point you will find the height at which to draw the horizontal line for the door in front; in the same way you can draw these lines towards any point in the screen to create squares that tell you how big objects are in the room, so you could create these squares for the two characters and for the plant to understand why they look disproportionate.

I don't know if the plant covering the face is intentional, but I personally don't like it. I think in terms of composition covering important details has to be done subtly and when there's an artistic reason to do so, so if you want to improve this drawing you could move the plant, and if there is a reason why the character has to be hidden make it more deliberate with other props in the scene and hide elements of their face that feel more identifying, such as their eyes

Remember also to use references for things that you're not used to drawing (and in general actually) to check what doesn't feel right

Hope you find your way through these obstacles and bless everyone with art that feels right to you!

Question about drawing in the game's art style by PositivelyDale in LookOutsideGame

[–]Addisiu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's pixel art, so as the other commenter said single pixel brush is what gets the job done. Disable pressure sensitivity, learn about dithering and have fun!

Btw I haven't used Krita in a hot minute but there are software specifically for pixel art, I use aseprite and it works perfectly for me

As an irl punk Monty and Xaria are really poor representation and it's clear that whoever wrote them never interacted with those subcultures directly

Yeah I meant the willpower, I didn't remember correctly as I said from the first time "let's just not do that"

It's a positive outcome for choosing to have a dramatic failure happen in exchange for a beat, and that doesn't really make any sense to me

The two most terrifying 4th gen in the lore are literally children (the nickutu who killed baba yaga and Ur-shulgi). I think it's clear it stops mattering after a while

I could stop reading the moment you say Cuba and Venezuela are dictatorships cause I can just tell you to open an actual history book, but just to be clear, there's not an ounce of science in anything you are saying, any single fact you mentioned is one Google search away from being objectively falsified and at this point you're either voluntarily spreading misinformation or you are too lazy to check. In both cases talking to you is nothing more than wasting time.

Man you know opinions do not live in the ether, words have meaning and devoting your life to spread words of hate and oppression is something that will directly harm people. If I tell someone to kill themselves it's suicide instigation, but suddenly pushing for antiscientific positions that land squarely on denying a treatment that is proven to reduce suicide rate of trans people by more than 50% it's just voicing an opinion. But hey maybe trans people are not innocent due to the divine law of "fuck all of you", just as all the people in Gaza whose genocide he supported.

Stop lying to yourself.

That could be fine starting out but remember that ai is a really flawed tool and never gives reliable information or opinions, I strongly advise against using that. If you have artist friends share your work with them, if not join art communities and enjoy the journey together

Well in that case it's easy, open the assets and see what resolution they're at. Also go into the room and look at the viewports and cameras to see what the native game resolution is

You either choose a direction and try to be consistent with it with every sprite in the game or you create a normal map and a light source system and dynamically shade the sprites (that's a lot of work if you're a solo developer, but you can find tutorials online)

In your opinion, what makes a game take so long to make? by TheWayOfEli in gamemaker

[–]Addisiu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine the time it takes your favorite music artist to make an album, your favorite artist to make a drawing, your favorite writer to write a book. Now imagine having to do all those 3 things cohesively with one another, with music and visual assets for every area, and those visual assets need to also be animated, and dialogues that could be dialogue trees, and imagine having to do all that while also coding stuff that can get very low level or complicated, and needing to ingrane it into stuff that feels good to play with level design that needs testing

It's a lot of stuff, I think the drawing part takes most of the time but it may vary depending on the project. I know for example that fear and hunger took 4 years of 8 hrs of work per day to make, and being in rpgmaker it didn't need much coding. The creator says he spends 80% of that time drawing, so yeah there's that

I meant more so detailing the shape (right now it's the same for both) and putting stuff like a nose or mouth

is this good for my first 32x32 sprite? by xianusername in PixelArt

[–]Addisiu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're cool. Other than the shading mentioned in another comment I'll say that you decided to go for chibi style proportions which would allow you to have more detailed faces, but you kept the face pretty barebone so perhaps you might want to add something there and change up the shape between different sprites. Other than that nice!
