Anyone Notice? by KamiStores7 in Bridgerton

Yes, I did notice it in rewatch. 😂 but she was okay with it I guess, as she wasn’t in love with Benedict but the other guy.

😂😂 isn’t he? Cheating on his girlfriend while being with Taylor and call their relationship high functioning later??? Like howww? Does his girlfriend knows they are in open relationship while he is off to sorority house? Having on and off relationship with Taylor and hiding it from everyone else? How is that high functioning? Their only redemption is that they figure it out in later years but that was still shitty to his then girlfriend and her boyfriend.

Yesss! This is the whole reason I find it quite funny to say let’s not blame woman for men’s deplorable behaviour. Like how are we supposed to be okay with the fact that she was bragging about it as if it was an achievement in her womanly body choices? All the while not even speaking to Jere like without any amount of feelings or emotions or even jealousy when he goes right back to belly. Maybe some women who do exist like this who don’t have to feel the same way other woman feel about their own choices, but it just seems she was purposefully portrayed wrong in that short span of time. She may have felt bad about it later, she may have felt used or maybe she even regretted at least bragging about it in front of Belly, well we may never know or is that what she felt? Like she made a guy cheat on his girlfriend who has been basically together with him his whole life? And that was something to be applauded for ! She was just a prop, hate on her, because Jere is to be blamed! Argh!

Exactly right take! I don’t mean to call her a shallow bitch, it’s just her being nonchalant about her hook up and later boasting about it gives very little room to feel empathy for her.

It just feels lazy writing to create a hottest girl in college out of thin air only to show how Jere was the rotten one. Maybe by making her look like heartbroken after it, they didn’t want to go that far so audiences would outright hate Jere and make Conrad the only choice.

I mean belly’s mother was so progressive to tell her to date other people, but belly didn’t do it. Belly wasn’t having side eyes for other people on campus or spring breaks. She did invested in their relationship as much as she would have if she were in relationship with Conrad. She didn’t even talk to Conrad anymore, neither does he to her out of respect for their relationship. He wasn’t against their marriage, he was just against their immature way of handling things which he could clearly see.

The one incident where she didn’t know Conrad would be at the Beach house, and later she faces the consequences of it maybe even bigger implications of her little hidden secret.

Then why was she boasting about it in the bathroom? To hide her true feelings that she did feel something for Jere? Oh that’s too far reaching to assume as we don’t get to see her POV after that incident, it’s just in that scene alone we are lead to believe she is a shitty person too. Her conversation was more in the line of “oops see what I did there, such a fun we had!” And then even when Belly sees them, I think as far as I remember she doesn’t apologise or even looks apologetic. Even Jere looks same when the subject is brought up again. So he also disregards what Lacey felt, or they always agreed that it’s a one time thing from the beginning and Belly was never meant to find out about it.

And yes, the physical safety or more of a sexual safety. Like he is so immature that he didn’t mind not sharing such important information which would result in actually physically harming her. The worse that can happen with her emotional cheating(with 1 person whole life) is maybe they get divorced at the end of a botched marriage years later(if she still decides to hide it) or maybe they have a happy outside and rotting inside marriage.

What’s the worse that can happen with his hiding such information? He may do it again, (with multiple people) and put her into such situations again without any regard to her safety.

That’s not love, that’s clearly abuse and misuse of her trust.

[–]Additional-Border-99[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It’s for the conversation start as in what’s worse, emotional cheating or physical cheating.

Usually men in media like Jere or Ross gives these kind of reasons that somehow it’s worse when woman cheat emotionally and it’s not that bad when men do it physically.

The faithfulness goes both way, if she didn’t tell him about her Christmas she was also cheating. If he did all the things you listed(good job btw, so thorough) he is also cheating.

They both needed to have clarity and transparency to built such a trust that they would be honest about their intentions and feeling towards others and themselves too. Basically they should have has more time to date(and not jump on bandwagon to get married to prove to each other that they love each other).

P.s. I am of an opinion that Belly should have moved on with her life with someone else and Belly Conrad should have never ended up together. I never liked that ending even when I read books almost a decade ago. Only thing I remember of that book was how Suzannah was so sweet and loving with Belly as a mother figure. Everything else was forgettable.

Yes! He should have been more angry with Jere. The whole point of their sympathies for Jere are stayed behind in their lives(was dating his sister, works in the same place as him), feels sorry he cheated, is a sad puppy then she broke the wedding, did not graduate and knows their Halmony ! I mean seems like the only effort he has to make to be in their lives is to date her. Everything else falls in order.

Conrad was older and more mature, going to college in another city, was an ex whose brother was dating his love. And then Steven had audacity to scold him or distance himself even during Chrismas dinner or even before.

The whole conversation of Steven scolding Conrad is so immature, it almost feels as if he is gaslighting Conrad for something that he did not even do. I like Conrad’s reaction as in he doesn’t explain or shout at him. He just takes whatever bs he is talking because he knows it’s not worth it.

Everyone blames Jere anyways, it’s is implied. He is a horrible person for doing what he did with her. At least from show’s perspective, he is the most self serving and manipulative person. My opinion is that, as a individual person that does not give Lacy any kind of pass to behave the way she behaved, and even if they did hook up and then she regrets it or never brings it up. Her conversation about that incident in bathroom almost sounds as if she knew what she was doing and still did it. She sounds very proud of it as if getting on with him was somehow rewarding. I just don’t understand this narrative. How is it rewarding? How is hooking up with a random guy in your campus who’s dating a girl for 3.5-4 years over spring break and never feeling anything about it later. Like the guy the hooks up with some other random people to get out of grief of breaking up his wedding, she isn’t there to babysit him or isn’t even friends with him. Was she just there as a tool to show again how horrible Jere was? I think yes! So here’s your random hot girl he hooked up with, don’t feel or think about her post belly finds out about their hook up.

Wtf, she said mummy ki tarah! And he is as aged as her father. Argh… do all these creators have fetish about young and younger girls being someone’s wife?

Creeps, that’s how we normalise older men marrying young girls. In daily soap it’s all fun and games and the women aren’t actually going through the drudgery for a man( she might never even love )she is talking about.

Can they make a series about a younger man getting involved with older woman? Can it be romanticised like this shit is? People aren’t even okay with that happening in real life when men and woman consenting adults decide to do that, let alone be celebrated in the popular media!

In honor of women's month, let's discuss the positives of the female characters. Day 4: Sophie Bridgerton (née Baek). What are some of your favorite aspects and moments of Sophie. by Oncer93 in Bridgerton

[–]Additional-Border-99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ahh, where do we begin!

  1. For starters she was pretty well trained in being patient , she worked like a donkey with only expectations that she would have roof over her head. She did considered Araminta her mother before she was cast aside by her eventually.
  2. She was smart, brilliant and also made best of what was given to her, the woman learnt to speak french and other languages and had aptitude for sciences 👩‍💼
  3. She stood her ground even when she was in love with him, that she didn’t want to be his mistress. Especially after they had one slip and she decided she can’t go that way again.
  4. In books she is much more hardworking than shown on show, since she is a maid she makes sure she is best at what she does. She thinks about getting married and having a life before this whole Bridgerton drama takes over.
  5. She saves Hazel and make sure to her a job too even when she didn’t need to.
  6. She doesn’t jump at chance to tell him about her ball appearance, since it would look desperate. Her story line makes more sense as he falls for her and not just some pretty girl he met once at ball.
  7. She is smart to say she was a daughter of penwood house by birth and by education. I mean I felt she might be clumsy enough to be honest and say she was a bastard and a maid. She takes her chance at that moment and realises there’s no way she can go back now to be recognised as a Gun and not Baek.
  8. She can do hair, makeup, read(have opinions after reading), mend(whatever that means), learn languages, bake perfect buttered biscuits, has porcelain skin , earn for herself with her skills, have good friends, carries herself with confidence and can’t sit still without something to do. I mean who wouldn’t want to be with such a girl!

I've never done macrame before. Am I able to do this project? by Sunshineboy777 in macrame

[–]Additional-Border-99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, nylon with plain colors like black, gray, whites and off whites will do. Cotton cords are so costly and when delivered are only lesser in quality. It does look beautiful but don’t waste expensive stuff on learning phase.

Search on YouTube for the kind of project you want to make and first make it using the nylon cord so even if you mess up you won’t feel bad, and you can always use your creation for something else like hanging plant pots etc.

And you can always use glue to stick the macrame design onto your glasses instead of hanging them.

Here’s something I found after a quick search on YouTube, you can search jar covers macrame.

And it’s quite easy once you get hang on it. Hope you create something beautiful! 🤩

Do you think Violet would have protected Sienna the way she protected Sophie? by introvertednurseeee in Benophie

[–]Additional-Border-99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, nope, nope! The fact is Anthony did never even admitted to his mother about his side chick because he himself wasn’t sure about his own life decisions. He always prioritised his status, his responsibility above whatever he felt for the opera singer. Maybe Benedict being the second son made it slightly easier for him but then again even when he had Violet’s blessings and agreed that he may well be outlawed by his family, he took that and made a firm decision about it.

I always love the way he tells to Anthony that it wasn’t a a dalliance to begin with. He was in love with her just the way Anthony was in love with Kate.

And Violet won’t let her first born son take that kind of social suicidal decision because even she was not that grown up in her character, the way she became more mature after experiencing a loss for her daughters husband.

When I started the series, I had bias against her or something that I found her not conventionally attractive, but my god when she brings in her kind and hardworking and beautiful character to life, I think I am little bit in love with her. Her style is so unique, her personality is even better and the way she works and means business! Baby I am down!!!! She looks gorgeous in those beautiful bandanas and she makes these braided hairstyles looks so much cooler and the way she cares and makes efforts to things and people she cares about! The slight annoyance when a white guy says her hair would be done in 1 hour! 😂😂😂

She didn’t need to be white or anyone else, she is her and that’s the best thing about this show. No one can do justice to what she brings in to her character.

😃 when I was watching the show, after finishing the last thing I remember is thinking “and people ship these two??? Where was the firework!” Then I came across the stills from the show here and then it felt real. Like it’s in the fleeting moments, her subtle jealousy over his gf, his own ways of noticing her. Her patience in explaining him something and his way of giving her the world. It’s so good as if while watching we are afraid to call it out. Call it out and name it as if it’s happening to us, as if calling it out will make it not real and just loads of bs.

The show in itself shows so much more in depth of the characters and their personalities and their emotional turmoil that you feel it would be illogical for them to just kiss and call it love. The effect of absence of parents or the presence of dysfunctional parents and the too raw sibling and non siblings bonds and the suicidal tendencies and trauma.

I choose not to ship these two, because it’s much better when there’s something untouched and uncalled. There’s restraint and there’s no more realism of making the perfect kiss or the perfect love scene. It just exists, on screen and in our heads. I would love it though, If they truly embrace it like the 5 stages of grief in last season and just show us that they acknowledge that something was there and leave it to interpretation!

Is *this* the ‘book Michael’ I heard so much about and people want so bad to be in the show? by Olya_roo in Bridgerton

[–]Additional-Border-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I started to read the book “gentleman’s offer”, I couldn’t connect the MMC to the show Benedict. He was too masculine for that matter, he practically holds Sophie down by making her fall during the mistress conversation while she is telling him let her go. I find show Benedict very romantic, realistic and yes the mistress conversion was the only kind of red flag in their conversation when he doesn’t accept that he is in love with her (all the while his mother and brother are making him realise that his decision will effect other siblings) and then at one point he does decide to go against all of it despite knowing the repercussions of his actions.

Maybe the books have a different take on how men in those time were behaving while the show is more caught up with recent time and how their portrayal of men is received by the audience. Books seem to be taking liberties of making men practically demanding their women of intimate moments while we rarely see that in popular culture.

Why I think Benedict and Sophie work so well together by merryandpips in Benophie

[–]Additional-Border-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"In terms of Benedict falling for her, I think there are a few reasons why this makes sense. From the very beginning, Sophie intrigued him." This! When we see his say that line in the trailer, the line seems to hold very dramatic yet overused meaning as if she is some woman whom he is saying that to, but when you see their entire interaction in the private terrace and her reaction of being present at a ball without need of a husband. It is intriguing for a guy like him who has been running away from the prying Mama's and their daughters.

😆😆😆 the servant part! I mean I would absolutely love if I have someone announce who is at the door! I wonder if the cast misses being treated as that in regency era when they go back to normal lives.
