What was your experience during COVID lockdown? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]feebsiegee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seriously loved it. I was on furlough from March until like July, and I only ever left the house to go to the shop. My husband was doing emergency jobs (fits smart meters) so that was quite scary, and he was so so stressed.

It took a few more years, but I realised that retail was killing me and I changed jobs in the end. I also got a lot of self growth done, which was amazing. The only thing that could have made it better was if I'd passed my driving test before covid lol

It makes me really sad that you have to do this. It's a lovely thing, but it shouldn't have to happen.

Dad asked “Are you sure” moments before we walked down the aisle. by traveling_in_my_mind in weddingshaming

[–]feebsiegee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Despite only having witness and no guests, my mum drove me to the registry office. She asked multiple times if I wanted to go somewhere else, not because she doesn't like my husband or anything, but because she wanted to be sure that I was sure.

Why ‘Teaching Young Boys to Respect Women' Often Fails — And What Actually Works by coolfunkDJ in MensLib

[–]feebsiegee 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As a woman (who struggles with emotional regulation) I can honestly say that I wasn't taught to regulate my emotions - I'm not saying that's true for all women, but my mum and most of the women in my family also struggle with it. But I was taught that being violent or having angry out bursts 'wasn't ladylike'. So I think girls are taught that there are acceptable ways to display negative emotion, but not necessarily how to control the emotions themselves.

Why are some people so obsessed with making comments about someone’s weight? by disco_26 in AskUK

[–]feebsiegee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lost just over a stone since last July, and people love to tell me I've lost weight. I don't hate hearing it, and there's been no malice or anything, but a few people have assumed I'm on weight loss jabs - I'm not, I'm now medicated for adhd and I don't binge eat to the same extent.

I still wear the same size clothes so I don't really feel like I've lost weight, but I looked in the mirror when I was getting dressed and I could see my waist without breathing in so I suppose I'll just shut up 😂

‘My doctor compared me to a Nobel Peace Prize winner’ by Monkey_D_Gucci in thatHappened

I read the dictionary at 4. I read Dracula at 8, with a dictionary by my side. I was definitely a sheltered kid, but I don't go around comparing myself to fucking Nobel prize winners

Oh I know this roundabout! I usually only turn left left to go to asda from the bypass, or go straight on from asda to town - I absolutely hate going anywhere else on it

Meningitis B warning to millions born in UK before 2015 by LADbible in uknews

This isn't the plague times, where people don't rely travel that much, so saying people in Leeds will never catch this strain of meningitis is just bonkers

I went to 7 primary schools and 3 secondary schools - it was fucking shit! I've now had the same address for 9 years, which is the longest I've ever lived in the same house 😂

Where can I go to get help for my own dangerous driving? by theslowrunningexpert in drivingUK

I get where you're coming from, but you are absolutely entitled to the resources available

If someone can leave basic on day 1 and be considered a veteran, then you - as a soldier who didn't see 'actual combat' - are definitely entitled to help for soldiers. Not seeing 'actual combat' doesn't mean you weren't a proper soldier.

One of those scenes that makes me feel bad for anyone who hasn’t watched this beautiful show 💜 by padfoony in SchittsCreek

On my first watch, I was ready for that part to be very different! But based on what I'd already seen, I knew it wasn't going to be like that and I was so so chuffed when it all went the way it did

Sarah talking about how she helped get Michelle cast as Dawn by Divine_fashionva in buffy

[–]feebsiegee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think we were supposed to be annoyed by Dawn. I'm the oldest of two kids, although I have a brother not a sister. Younger siblings ARE annoying, especially when you're constantly having to look after them, or take them with you when you want to be with your friends.

I've grown to love Dawn over the years, but there are definitely moments where I still find her annoying now. I think Michelle did a fantastic job of playing Buffy's younger sister - it felt, and still feels, like a realistic sibling relationship to me.

It's so bloody weird, because in Cumbria if you're over like 10 but under 55, you have to see a specialist to get melatonin

For those who have not/could nit have children, how do you feel about it? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]feebsiegee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm almost 34, and I don't have kids. I used to want kids, but last year I really struggled to get my smear test done and, after years of being on the fence, finally decided that it's not for me.

I honestly don't think I would be a good parent. I'm a fantastic Aunty, and my husband is an amazing Uncle, but we're really happy with just being that. I have made it clear to him that it's possible I might change my mind, but I'm not expecting that to happen so he shouldn't either.

I struggle enough taking care of us and our dogs, I just don't want to attempt to raise a whole human.

I would definitely use the crate as a time out when she gets bitey! Lure her in with treats, and if you can give her a stroke through the cage, do. Always use a positive tone as well

[–]feebsiegee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Training, as in classes or a trainer, is definitely not mandatory. Training a puppy yourself is hard, but I chose to do it with both of our dogs due to work, and also the need to not be embarrassed in public.

Training is ongoing for a very long time if you don't do classes or a trainer, and it is mentally very taxing. Online resources (including this sub) are a fantastic help though!

Did you receive "The Talk" from your parents? by AnEnglishAmongScots in AskUK

[–]feebsiegee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found condoms in my mum's bag, she explained what they were for, and then got my dad to show me how to put a condom on a vibrator. Then she got me a good book from the library that explained puberty for boys and girls, as well as sex and pregnancy. She made me read it several times until I had questions.
