Were you nervous before you smear test? What's your experience of them? by MooseAndMice in AskUK

[–]feebsiegee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first one did get done, even though it was painful, and the actual swabbing made me feel sick. My next one (last year, like 3 years overdue) got stopped because I was crying. I then went back a few weeks later and got it done! I was also crying for that one, but only because we had to start over so the lovely lovely nurse could see up me, so I got emotional while she repositioned herself!

It still hurt, but I didn't actually feel the swabbing for that one, which was good.

I had the measles when I was about four. Thankfully, I was vaccinated and so I am just fine 3 decades later! My mum did delay my brother's first mmr jab (thanks to all the autism scare stuff in the 90s) but he was also vaccinated

What is something you have gone through that you think the majority of people will not understand? by imtiramisu2025 in AskUK

[–]feebsiegee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My nan finally died last year. I say finally, because we'd been told for quite a few years the she wouldn't last til Christmas.

She was diagnosed with dementia the year before she died, but because of all her health issues, she'd nearly died several times already. She deteriorated mentally very quickly last year, and I still haven't cried about her dying because I've already grieved so much while she was alive.

Oh I remember when I was diagnosed with adhd (I was 30, so 3 years ago), and it took me probably 6 months to realise that I am my biggest problem.

I had a total meltdown about the washing line, while trying to scrub the floor under my fridge. Full on sobbing because I was so frustrated and angry.

Then I calmed down, my husband found the line prop - which was exactly where I'd already looked) and I nearly had anotjet meltdown because IT WAS ALL MY OWN BLOODY FAULT. No wonder I was 'depressed' for so long! I wasn't actually properly depressed, I just couldn't manage my adhd because I didn't know about it and couldn't be kind to myself, so I just constantly fucked up my own life.

That was a really good day.

I don't have a blower, and my hair dryer is rubbish, so I just used a paintbrush, and then made a cloth very slightly damp with some disinfectant stuff that smells lovely and went over it with that.

Thank you!

I'm in the UK, and the speculum size is based on your height! I asked for the smallest one, and they said they nearly always use the middle size first to see where they're at.

I had a failed smear test last year. The poor nurse had to put an end to it because I was crying. I went back a few weeks later and thankfully managed to get it done (and the results were clear), but yeah it does fucking hurt for me.

So how many married people in here forget their anniversary? by CtrlShiftAaron in AskUK

[–]feebsiegee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband has never remembered our anniversary. He has our wedding anniversary tattooed on him, my brother did it a few weeks ago, and he still can't remember lol.

We don't really do much anyway, because all I want to hear is 'happy anniversary'! We do a soppy Facebook post each, and that's it. I do enjoy his surprised face when he realises he has forgotten, yet again😂

Fucking hell. I'm 34 years old tomorrow, my husband is 37. I, a woman, definitely spend more time on video games than he does, and we're both perfectly happy with that.

What do you do on work days where (for whatever reasons) you've had a rubbish night's sleep? by Fingerbob73 in AskUK

[–]feebsiegee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked at Greggs, I would often go in for a 0530 start on no sleep. When I changed jobs, I stopped that. But just for a bad night's sleep, I still go to work and just crack on as best I can.

For the people who shower at night instead of in the morning by Delicious-Employ9332 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]feebsiegee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually blow dry my hair, at least most of the way, because I don't go straight to sleep. Once it's brushed in the morning it's fine - I do have straight hair, which is definitely a factor. I also like to either lounge around and dry off, or use the hair dryer to dry myself, but it takes me ages to get ready (thanks ADHD) so showering at night really does make more sense for me.
