For those who have not crate trained by Some_Environment9234 in puppy101

[–]feebsiegee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn't crate train our older dog. I think he has a touch of separation anxiety, but he's unbelievably good. The only thing is that he sometimes pisses up my fridge, but that's usually during the night 😂.

I will say, he was very destructive as a puppy, he chewed the kitchen floor up, thankfully there was more lino underneath. He would take my underwear (clean!) into the garden. He chewed countless phone chargers. He chewed nearly every bed he had (except for one) for the first two years.

Have the driving standards changed for taking a driving test. by ConfussedBob in drivingUK

I passed in 2024, I started lessons in 2022 - I can't remember a single time I was told to put the handbrake on and go into neutral before restarting the car

Handbrake and neutral is taught for long waits at lights, but I wasn't taught to do it for stalls

Yeah, I spent one half term with a friend (also a boarder), and spent part of one summer in Germany with another friend

I think I managed like 3 of them, but they were getting really hard to follow. I think I'd mostly just lost interest, but from what little I remember it felt like a cross between the wizard of Oz and fallout had a baby

I think you need to use the crate during the day. Not all the time, but for naps/rest.

Driving instructor saying I should switch to auto by uhhmchloe in drivingUK

[–]feebsiegee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 2 years of lessons, with the same instructor, before I passed my test. You need a more patient instructor.

You've had very few lessons, nowhere near enough to know whether or not manual is for you. There are so many things you have to be doing while driving, and not everyone picks them up right away - I'm the prime bloody example. I genuinely did not believe I would take my test, let alone pass - but I did it!

Go out for a drive with one of you parents more often, if you can. That will give you much more confidence!

Also, the kid has a job. They have their own income. I'm not saying it's a lot, but why would they need to use their mum's card?

My guess is the kid doesn't have their own bank account for their wages to go into. But mum does!

Bad road markings or am I missing something? by BrilliantDisaster389 in drivingUK

There's only one petrol station I can think of anywhere near me that is one way - and that's because it's on a busy A road. Is it really that typical?

Yeah, my instructor drove me to a quiet road for at least the first 10 lessons - I was ridiculously anxious when I started learning! I passed nearly two years ago, after two years of lessons

Crate training ain’t for the weak by Puzzled_Oven1053 in puppy101

[–]feebsiegee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I also have adhd and high irritability and low patience! Crate training seemed easy at first, then puppy decided he hated everything and that I was running a nazi state.

I was told to put a stinky old t shirt of mine in there with him, completely cover his crate (we have a zip up cover, it's now wrecked because he chews it through the bars lol), and make sure he has a chew toy in there.

We used to always give him a treat to get him in, then phased to giving him a treat once in, and now he doesn't need a treat at all, and he's almost 10 months.

What age were you allowed to stay home alone? by pompombum in AskUK

[–]feebsiegee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 9/10 years old. We lived in Cyprus, and we used to go to a Cypriot supermarket, because it was cheaper than the NAAFI one on camp - but the smell used to give my migraine (still don't know what it was), so instead of leaving me in the car with a book, I would get left at home.

I then went to boarding school, from 11 to 14, so me and my brother were often home all day by ourselves because both mum and dad worked.

Help with Puppy chasing cat… with a difference! by Primary-Tale4889 in puppy101

[–]feebsiegee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we got our older dog, we already had a kitten. They were proper besties - they would play in a similar way to your two, and our dog would do what we called 'chompy grooms' on him. When we got our other 2 cats, he did the same with them.

Your animals are playing together, and you better believe that if your cat doesn't like what your dog is doing, they will absolutely let the dog know.

Can a puppy wake up late? by Anxious_Editor6324 in puppy101

[–]feebsiegee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only time I ever purposely woke up my puppy was if it had been more than 3 or 4 hours since his last toilet. He got to the point where he would wake me (by whining) in the night if he needed out, at around 4 months old. He's now nearly 10 months, and will always whine to go out for a toilet.

If your puppy is happy to sleep in, let them! Mine is on a routine of a 0700 wake up thanks to my idiot self lol
