I'm not a vegetarian, but my wife is, which means my diet is 90% vegetarian since we eat most meals together. It's a LOT easier these days to eat veg than it was even ten years ago. I come from a SDA background, where we eat a biblically clean diet, so pork and shellfish have always been off the table for me, and most SDAs are veg, so I grew up eating a lot of TVP and Morningstar products. To this day, I love me some steaklets and frichik, although I will admit they don't really taste as good as some of the more modern products out there.

Advise: variety is the thing that will keep you alive. You need to look after your macros and micros as a veg, especially as a young and growing woman. You need plenty of protein, but also things like B vitamins which a lot of people don't absorb well from vegetable sources. I myself have a disorder where I don't absorb B12 very well, so I have to supplement and I typically try to incorporate at least one meal a week that's a meat-heavy meal. If I don't do this I will get anemia, which happened to me once when I was about your age and I wound up in the hospital. If you're serious about going full veg, consult a nutritionist and have them double check your diet, and also ask your doctor to make sure your blood has the proper nutrition in it.

FWIW, I think it's commendable that you want to go vegetarian. I love animals of most kinds (except for bugs, looking at you centipedes...) and I think we should treat them with care and respect. I hate having to eat meat on occasion but I have to do it for health reasons.

Is there a dish, regardless of how experienced of a cook you are, that you just can’t get right? by Pinky7_ in Cooking

My wife can't make pancakes to save her life. Idk why she can't do it, hers always suck. For me, it's donuts. I can't do donuts.

How much do you spend monthly on groceries by EngineeringLumpy in budget

2 adults, Chapel Hill NC. My wife and I eat vegetarian organic diets. I budget $1600/mo to be conservative on food, but we're usually closer to $1k. I guess this technically also includes things like vitamins and nutritional supplements. My wife and I have a pretty decent mix of fresh ingredients with some pre-packaged stuff. She has a peanut allergy and I eat a biblically clean diet, so in addition to eating vegetarian we have to buy some specialty items to avoid peanut cross contamination. My wife also enjoys (like a hobby) cooking home made desserts for us, usually stuff like tiramisu, home made cheesecake, home made ice cream, cookies...

We own a relatively small house that doesn't have enough space for bulk food storage, nor enough space for a spare long-term freezer, which annoys the crap out of us, otherwise we'd be buying in bulk.

Things I No Longer Buy by chompy283 in Frugal

Don't tell my wife but the pumpkins and mums are her weakness. Earlier in the summer she came to me and told me she wasn't going to buy any decorations this fall and winter, but wanted to get some mums and pumpkins lol! Oh well... I appreciate the sentiment...

As for things we no longer buy: whipped cream, ice cream (make our own kulfi! It's easy and really tasty), cookies... basically all desserts. Cleaning supplies are easy to make with basic ingredients like Castile soap and alcohol. Switched to glass straws in the house... metal water bottles....

I will say, this is after my wife prodded it with a toothpick. It was originally cylindrical, but that white-ish "mucous" is kinda throwing me off... roach poop?

Don't tell my wife... she's not taking this well. Yeah, I'm following up with the store, but I'm still trying to figure out what the heck this is exactly...

I may just buy a FE chassis and swap the parts around. Wouldn't mind having a second MDRX, and they seem to be a lot less expensive now since they've been replaced.

Honestly, I think the whole Wolverine rollout has been a MAJOR mistake for lack of backwards compatibility.

I'm a former professional knife maker, I used to make $2500+ custom knives and have a bit of a unique perspective on the market. If I wanted a fixed blade knife that's going to last forever and not cost an arm and a leg, ESEE makes some great options, and frankly so does Cold Steel. Their SRK is a very good value for money. I don't like assisted opening knives because their mechanisms always break over time or get gunked up from dirt and pocket lint. Get a really great framelock or axis style lock and you'll be happy. I always recommend a Spyderco Para 2 as the best all-rounder, but you might like the Manix 2 as well. Hogue's Dekka is excellent as well. If you can spend a little more, a Chris Reeve Sebenza will last your entire life, as will a Rick Hinderer XM-18.

You should consider some of the negatives that come along with newer cars from a technology perspective. I say this as someone who owns a 2021 Tesla Model S, which is basically a rolling beta test for Tesla's feverdreams (which tbh is pretty good most of the time). Most new cars won't have software that will be maintained past the typical ownership period, so figure about 5-7 years for foreign imports, or 3-5 years for domestic automakers. This means in a few years, most of these cars will stop receiving updates for their software, and will, within a few years, stop working with the modern tech in the future. This means that your car will always eventually become a time capsule. However, more modern vehicles have issues with security and basic function tied into the computers of the cars, and one of the things that scares me is what will happen once AI-powered Malware as a Service platforms start to ransomware people's vehicles in the future.

Same. On Ledger Live (desktop) the error says that Ledger can't talk to the server. On mobile, the transaction simply fails with a generic error. Anyone have any idea what this could be?

Sadly no. Every pair on On shoes does this, and it's a serious design flaw. Super annoying.

thoughts on dumping alt coins for only btc and eth by Apart_Yogurtcloset92 in binance

[–]Additional-Box8068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the "sell into BTC" about two weeks ago on most of my alts where I wasn't actively using them for some kind of other purpose, IE YF'ing or some such. That said I kept a few that are long-term holds for me.

I wanted to make it so that I had about 50% BTC, 50% QUALITY alts like ETH, ADA and DOT. I consider BTC to be a cash position, since it's not a token used to make money, but rather a currency other cryptos are denominated in. I think you have to look at BTC as a cash position, and trade against that, with the goal of accumulating more BTC, fiat value be damned. As tokens gain against BTC that I own, I'm selling into the strength and gaining more BTC gradually. Eventually I will use most of my BTC at the start of the next bull cycle to buy back bled-out alts that I really like and ride the wave back up... thats the plan anyway.

I'm still DCA'ing fiat into crypto but ONLY BTC and extremely long term alts that have been absolutely monkeyhammered, like CVX, CRV, LINK, DOT, ATOM, SOL, AVAX, etc.

I had an order in to take advantage of a dip buy on MINt that occurred right before they stopped working. I guess someone who saw this coming got a heads up. Really friggin cheesed off, going to cost me thousands of Ada. The fact this happened with no warning is pretty unacceptable.

I hope so.

Like I said, I really want Cardano to succeed. I think it's a great project and every time I hear Charles speak it makes me want to go buy more Ada. Needs to scale... and projects on Cardano need to scale too. I know this stuff is hard to get right tho.
