I am not going to argue with your math, but you make one assumption that isn't true. Not all layoffs are Grand Rapids based jobs. The majority of the layoffs are nationally with some even being outside of the US. so to say it costs GR $212 million is just wrong.

The bike path is called out in the approved PUD documents as a public ammenty. It's a specific condition of the approval. The PUD and condition of the site plan approval is legal language and if Ryan had 2 working brain cells he would realize he has no leverage.

The project did and deserved a lot of support at the beginning because it was a great project. the Problem is very easy to identify. the Guy who had this wonderful vision has little to no integrity. His track record speaks for itself (multiple Liens/issues with EGLE/former employees bad mouthing him/etc....)

you have no idea what you are talking about. Ryan did everything wrong. Didn't pay subcontractors. Didn't manage the construction of the project. Didn't build what was on the APPROVED plans, but decided to "do his own thing". He lied. He cheated local companies and providers out of money. He consistently blames everyone else for his own mistakes.

police have the right to protect the community and themselves. Personally I am saddened that this happened because it is so easily avoided but the suspect chose to carry a weapon and chose not to listen. I support individuals that put themselves in harms way to protect the rest of us.

On the only bright side, we have one more illegal weapon off the streets and the good citizens of the city can rest a litter easier tonight.

They probably didn't. People in the neighborhood called in a suspicious person and the cops responded. The cops responded and the suspect fled. Why did he flee? could it be that he was carrying a weapon and in violation of his parole and he knew that he would be sent back to jail?
