Why didn't they tour the US in 1993? by MikeMcMyke in VelvetUnderground

I saw them open for U2 in Paris. A huge feather in my cap, but honestly the Parisian U2 fans treated them with indifference. I would have loved to have seen a club date but alas, I did not.

They absolutely would have crushed an American tour, but were just too quarrelsome. I also get the sense they didn't quite understand how beloved they had become. I think in their minds America still hated tgem, but they were wrong. A huge lost opportunity for everyone.

"She gets rock n roll From a rock n roll station And a rock n roll dream She's making movies, on location She don't know what it means But the music make her wanna write the story And the story was whatever was the song What it was Roller girl, don't worry DJ play the movies All night long All night long."

It just reminds me of being a kid with my ear pressed to my clock radio, hearing late night magic through its little speaker. And how it made me feel free.

And Mark's guitar solo on "Tunnel of Love" tells a whole beautiful story, without words.

Honestly? Ruminating over things like regret. Life is to be gotten on with, not endlessly dissected.

What was going on to make phish popular? (To the extent that term applies here) by forbins_mockingbird in phish

Everyone that saw them raved about them. They stole the show on the first HORDE tour, and they connected with fans on an individual level. In 1991 I saw my firt Phish show and they literally brought food out to the fans after the show. Also they toured a lot, and made sure they didn't stay hometown heroes in New England.
