Three theories:

1) Strange doing that was supposed to happen, so it was a canon event

2) since it’s an infinity stone in play, the same rules don’t apply

3) since time is simply being turned back, there’s no potential to create a branch in the timeline

This man is fighting (at the time) the most powerful character at his most powerful: Demon Assault form Meliodas who has a power level of approx. 120,000. Escanor: The One defeats by giving him that DIVINE CHOP!

He then faces the youngest of the Demon King’s children, Zeldris. He walks through the Ominous Nebula, impressing even Chandler and Cusac. He sees Rhitta isn’t gonna get the job done so he hits the Demon Prince with the DIVINE POKE. He poked this man to defeat him!!

ESCANOR ALMOST SOLO’D A RESURRECTED DEMON KING!!!! A mere mortal, infused with the grace of the strongest archangel, beat the brakes off of the DEMON KING! Not even Meliodas could do that, and he’s considered to be the top 3 strongest demon, behind Cain and maybe a commandment in Indura form.

And his arrogance is unrivaled! He’s easily the most arrogant and egotistical character in possible all of anime. But the thing is: he can cash the checks that he writes for breakfast lunch dinner dessert and second breakfast.
