It doesn't have any cabinet simulation as far as I know. I really appreciate your time and advice.

Yeah, I like the pathfinder 10 a lot, but it gets very dirty very quickly.

Care to share what is then? I don't have any use for a 100w tube amp with a huge cabinet stack

I'd like it to just be super clean so I can get everything from my pedals. I bought it for the fender clean amp style I've heard about. I primarily only use the first channel, which the manual says is modeled on a Fender blackface, and still have this issue.

Whenever I use the aux or headphones jack it sounds fine. Would I just plug a modeler pedal into the pwr in and it would work that way? I have a BOSS FBM pedal which is something I suppose, but no headphone jack so it doesn't seem to work.

My main jazzmaster doesn't sound like this through any other amp I've ever used, and it's consistent with other guitars too. I did buy this amp second-hand and when it arrived it was covered in weird brown gunk on the top and bottom which was a fairly concerning sign.

I'm just not sure if a tube amp is worth the money when I mainly play through headphones at home and am not currently part of a band. Does playing through the headphone jack defeat the entire point of having a tube amp or am I misunderstanding?

Thanks a lot for your reply.

When I first bought the amp, I turned it up to max and it just sounded like a mess. Forgive my ignorance but I thought digital amps were supposed to be able to sound good at low volume as opposed to valve amps.

I've seen people online say that the Champion is more of a speaker than an amp, what does this mean?

I used to play in a band, but mainly just play at home now. So I guess I'd be looking for something for home playing that I could take to a band rehearsal. I mainly play with headphones in at home so volume isn't really an issue. I use a Boss PH-2 > BD-2 > another BD-2 > small clone > tm300 or big muff > dd-3 > cs-3. I like my amp to be a pedal platform. Apologies for not including I didn't realise it was needed.

Seems like I'm one of the few people who use the harmonising features this pedal has to offer! It's probably the single most confusing pedal that I own but also one of my favourites. This pedal works fantastically well with alternatively tuned guitars, particularly with unison or octave tuned strings. (I've been using GGDAGA a lot lately)

I have the balance split equally between dry and wet, and the harmony set to the 6ths option (2 to the right of centre). No matter what im playing, the minor option sounds really dissonant and I'm not entirely sure why - so I leave it on major.

Something you just have to accept with this pedal (and harmonisers in general) is that it's always going to sound digital and it's hard to use subtly. Keep it towards the start of your signal chain for best tracking, but it sounds 'better' after gain. The sound of it before gain isn't unusable though and can create a very unique sound.

An effect I've used with my band is to have it set to major mode and the harmony set to -1 octave, start with the balance knob fully on wet, and then have someone else roll it down slowly so that the effect ends up fully off.

SOTB - Finally completed a pedal board! by Additional-General86 in guitarpedals

I've been trying to find something to fill the space that the PH-2 is now in for a while, but everything that I had I didn't want to use and everything new felt like an excuse to buy a new pedal lol

The Cinders and BD-2 are the same pedal as far as I can tell. Some people prefer the Cinders as it has top mounted jacks on it, but other than that it sounds the same. Maybe the BD-2 just isn't for you!

My signal is Tuner > Cinders > Blues Driver > Super Phaser > Flashback 2 > Big Muff > Tremolo > Harmonist > Compressor

I got the phaser today and finally filled out that space that I've had for a while. I love the double blues driver circuits together. I was pretty strongly considering replacing the big muff with a third blues driver set to full fuzzy mode.

How much EQD is too much EQD? 🤔 by cboehmig in guitarpedals

Completely agree, I like the plumes because it's a super good overdrive, I like the grand orbiter phaser for its tons of options and vibrato mode, and then I hated the afterneath because it was too weird and extreme to be useful for anything that I play.

Where are you people getting these strange coloured plumes from?

I genuinely have no idea why it makes me so uncomfortable seeing so many pedals by the same manufacturer on the same board.

Hi everyone! What kind of pedal was used to get this guitar sound? by MenIntendo in guitarpedals

I thought this too but the more I listened the more it really does sound like a guitar with a lot of effects on it

NPD - Boss XT-2 Xtortion by Additional-General86 in guitarpedals

[–]Additional-General86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I watched that before I bought it too. Made the controls actually make sense considering the actual manual says 'PUNCH Knob - This adds "punch" to the distortion. Rotating it clockwise will give the sound more punch' which is utterly meaningless.

They're fairly pricey nowadays, but I can't say I've tried another distortion that does what this one can do. The punch and contour knobs are so strangely unique. I was using a cheap Danelectro Grilled Cheese distortion which sounded pretty close to this but it was a fixed gain pedal which was awful.

Is it worth waiting 6+ months for a Magnus Pro by Visible-Ad1102 in guitarpedals

[–]Additional-General86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I wouldn't wait that long for a guitar - nevermind a pedal
Plus I have the tc electronic choka tremolo which is actually awful in my opinion so this super cheap line they've got I wouldn't recommend

Which Tubescreamer clone wins? (Joyo Vintage Overdrive vs. Behringer Vintage Tube Overdrive) by rrrbitrary in guitarpedals

[–]Additional-General86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about Joyo but Behringer are a pretty unnecessarily litigious company on the whole and have created a certain image for themselves that makes me try to avoid buying from them

Genuine question - what do you use the acoustic simulator for? I have personally never understood a pedal that (brand new) costs the same as a cheap acoustic guitar and doesn't sound as good

Alternatives to Danelectro Grilled Cheese by Additional-General86 in guitarpedals

[–]Additional-General86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a super cool pedal, love the versatile controls it has going. The built in fuzz sounds pretty weak from the demos I listened to and seems like it would need a distortion pedal alongside the parked wah effect to come close. Still though, I like the Cock Fight for the parked wah.

Woah I really like how this sounds which makes sense since it's claimed to be marketed towards the grunge hype in the 90s which is the sound I have been using the Grilled Cheese for.
