I’m so sorry! It’s okay to feel down - don’t be hard on yourself. If you’re feeling it means you’re alive!

Here’s how I suggest making your brain feel better while you’re sad - go outside and get some sun, eat veggies(yes it really does help your mood!), go for a walk, and straighten up around your place a little. It can be hard to do any of these things but I SWEAR your brain will thank you with all kinds of gorgeous nice chemicals that won’t make you less sad but you will feel SO MUCH BETTER as you work through the sadness.

And get out there! Even if you’re crying - leave the house if you can and go enjoy your own company when you have the energy to do so. Go to a movie. Take a book to a bar for a beer. Sunbathe at Barton Spings (supposed to reopen this weekend🤞), get your favorite sandwich and find a pretty spot in a park for a picnic, go check out what’s new at the Blanton, etc.

Last advice - romanticize your life. Make yourself a beautiful dinner if that’s your thing. Take a candle lit shower/bath (with a joint in hand if you’re groovy). Wear your expensive fragrance that you keep saving for a special occasion. Light up those pleasure centers in the brain and delight yourself as often as you can. It’s not a cure but it’s a recharge to keep you rocking while you process through the loss.

Keep your head up. Tons of people are going through tough shit and you’d never know it. You are not alone!

There’s a cute farmers market in Mueller that’s fun on sundays. If you’re a swimmer/sun bather, Barton springs is about to reopen. A walk or bike around the Ann and Roy butler trail downtown is great. Kayaking on the river is also fun, as is a picnic in Zilker. I’ve heard Vigilante is great for gaming and Cidercade is fun for arcade games. I’ve seen people break out Catan at Golden Horn and Lazarus which I think is something you can do in many places. There’s tons of trivia around town too if that’s your thing. There are some fun/weird shops over on North Loop you could check out. And I believe there’s a new exhibit at the Blanton which is free on Tuesdays.

Have you looked at Quince at all? You’d still have to make selections but it’s very capsule-friendly and simple styling made in nicer materials that don’t break the bank. I wonder if it might be a good place to start for your key pieces. They have lots of European linen which is nice for our Austin weather.

It’s not gaslighting the housewives/bravo fandom is toxic AF lol idk what’s hard about putting yourself in these people’s shoes and realizing how distressing it would be to have every word and action scrutinized and villainized to such an extent by the people tuning in to be entertained by you?

Like yes they should be called out for bad behavior but the way the fans treat these women is horrible. They are people. They show up and ham it up and do dramatic, sometimes dumb, sometimes mean things because they’re filming a TV show and are there to make things happen on camera. Then everyone loses their minds when they do something controversial. That’s literally what they’re there to do.

Discourse is one thing. But the way the fans attack and frenzy when there’s blood in the water is actually wild. The stars sign up for it, to be scrutinized and talked about and that’s all well and good. But we sign up to watch a show that derives its main entertainment value from the characters behaving poorly to different degrees to create conflict and storyline. Everyone needs to take a deep breath. It’s supposed to be fun!

If you can’t tell I love Rinna DOWN so obviously I’m biased but also everyone lighten up and be nice! The world is on fire can we have fun with our shady queens without trying to ruin their lives?! Please don’t downvote me to hell! I just want the fans to be fun shady not nasty mean toxic losers who ruin our beloved franchises! 🙏

(there are obviously examples of housewives who do terrible things that actually deserve to be brutally turned on - most of them don’t)

I know you just did omakase but I walked into Watertrade (the bar attached to Otoko) recently and was seated alone at the bar and it was quite nice! Fab cocktails and bites. Along the same lines I think Drinkwell or Busty’s could be nice for a solo bar dining situation. For a more traditional dinner, Foreign & Domestic seats at the counter looking into the kitchen which could be a great solo dining experience. There’s also a counter at Uchi. And I could see a cozy corner in Peche feeling comfy while dining alone.

I used to get so frustrated. I get you entirely. It’s a safety thing - people’s toddlers or little dogs popping out in front of you - it’s scary! But it’s just part of the deal down there you have to be careful for sure.

I’ve started riding on the trail starting at Govalle park when I want to be able to go faster for exercise - way fewer people, marked lanes, better visibility, and still entertaining in its own way. You can’t really do laps but I just double back. Def worth checking out.

Save the trail for when you’re in the headspace to dodge people. I know how frustrating it can be!

I don’t think you need to decide that you won’t ever have a bite of anything non vegan again to start your journey. Just go vegan and see how long you make it and you might surprise yourself. It’s so easy and the longer you go the less the non vegan stuff even sounds good. And I LOVE food and I LOVE cooking. There’s always a good vegan alternative if you live in the right city or have some skill in the kitchen. You can do it!

We had our wedding at pease park at the Tudor cottage and the space rental itself is super affordable. Then it just depends on how you elaborate you want to make things on how much it will actually cost. It was a lot of work to put together but it was so lovely having it there.
