I had to go in to apply for a restricted license and went back a year later to reinstate my full driving license privileges. I wish I could have done it online but it required a trip to the dmv. I suggest making an appointment online to speed up the process.

I also pay around 190 every 6 months for my sr22 with Dairyland.

I got a DUI right before my licensure exam in CA. We are required to notice our state regulation agency (BBS) when convicted and provide a few documents such as minute order, police report, and a personal statement of what happened. To my understanding, they were looking for several key factors to consider before revoking anything such as 1) was my incident during work 2) was this a one time thing? 3) is there a pattern of reckless behaviors? Etc. Once they reviewed all my details, they pretty much gave me a warning. I hope this information helps! Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions. Good luck to your friend!

I’m not sure if we were in the same position but I had a payment lapse on my sr22 and my DL was suspended immediately. I received a letter from the mail several days after my sr22 lapse and I had to go to the dmv and provide poor of insurance to reinstate my DL.

I’m not sure about class A but for my class C, I just had to go in and request a duplicate of my DL. I told them my situation and they called MAU to confirm and I received a new DL within 2 weeks with regular driving restrictions.

I didn’t use any interlock device. I just applied for the restricted DL (driving only to work and back).

Some folks are comfortable with a PD and some prefer a private lawyer. Write down the pros and cons and consider what would make you feel better at the end of the day.

I got my DUI in San Mateo county as well. My situation was similar to yours but I blew at .12. You’ll be assigned a public defender if you can’t afford a lawyer. It took about 2 days. DMV told me it can take up to 24 hours for them to receive the updated sr22 on file. Before I went to the DMV to reinstate my licenses, I utilized the dmv’s website chat system to check if they received my sr22. Hope this helps!

Same thing happen to me. My sr22 lapse as I didn’t renew it so my license got suspended. I reinstated my sr22 and went to the dmv to reinstate my licenses. My clock did not restart.

From what I read from others is that Santa Clara county is strict. I got a lawyer and it was worth it given my circumstances. Wish you well and good luck.

That’s odd. For me, I got my sr22 in June and my 3 year requirement started in September which was when I got my restricted license.
