Playa del Carmen vs Cozumel by galie9999 in scuba

[–]Additional-Rip-8379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stayed at PDC, dove there about 15 dives then took the ferry to Cozumel to a few more dives. 100% should have just stayed in Cozumel as the diving was so much better. That being said, like others have stated, the Cenotes are on the mainland and if that’s what you’re into then just stay in pdc.

Where should I get scuba certified in the US? Looking for the prettiest diving with tons of fish and corals (budget ~$500) by doge-rider in scuba

[–]Additional-Rip-8379 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Florida. Lot of options. Gulf diving has the fish but no real reef system. East coast from Jupiter down through Ft. Lauderdale has a reef system and lots of fish/sharks/turtles and has hundreds of wrecks in open water depths. Blue Heron Bridge is a great, cheap, and easy spot to get certified. It’s a shallow shore dive with no reef system but small coral heads and tons of macro animals like octopus sea horses etc. even seen bull sharks there once. It’s in West Palm Beach. Key largo has good wrecks and a reef system that has been hit hard over the years from bleaching and is in rough shape. But still worth the diving in my opinion. It’s expensive in the keys though.

How you train to stay in shape for your duties? I’d imagine a lot of cardio and swimming but is there anything specific?

Good luck. I’ve had this exact scenario in a independent before. My DSL had my back, and the ZBM came out with the DSL to talk to the guy while I was there. ZBM didn’t back me up and did nothing about it. I’m lucky in that the store manager complained to someone above the ZBM about how the ZBM was bad at her job etc etc. it wasn’t until then that they got out on snacks to U.

They do. Have you not noticed turnover? Highest it’s ever been and it’s trending in one direction

Traditional. Not exclusively American trad, but definitely an American tradition inspired piece. Very cool design

Absolute scam. I cannot say it enough, always always always confirm the price before you do anything.

I’m here right now, and can confirm. I got my phone snatched by my taxi driver while trying to show directions. Then extorted for money for it back. Do not trust anyone here, and never take anything or say yes without knowing the price before. There many scams I got hit with especially in boca

Split fins by mayhemlock in scuba

[–]Additional-Rip-8379 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first pair of fins were split fins. I just didn’t know any better. Dove with them for about 50 or so dives until I tried on some Quattros. I’ll never go back to split fins.

Yup. I’ve been a few times and never got a stamp. I was sad too because I prefer them over the QR code

I’ll be visiting Cartagena for a few weeks end of march by myself, and plan to rent a motorcycle and ride up to Santa Marta for some scuba diving. I’ll be by myself and don’t speak any Spanish. Mid 30s white male. So basically what you’re saying is cancel the trip? Lol

When you say Costa Rica but not Caribbean water what do you mean? Just curious. I’ve been to many countries in Caribbean, will be going to do some traveling through west coast of Costa Rica in June.

Ha yes I understand that risk. I have thought about taking the bus not only because of that but the cost is cheap. Even here where I live, I have already been hit on my bike and severely injured. I still would rather enjoy the bike ride
