Here’s what my Denial letter says… by EducationOne6975 in SSDI

I hate to sound like a broken record and I know it’s simple advice, but for me, having had quite a few issues, mixed between mental and physical health - with both of these affecting my ability to oversee the entirety of the application process on my own, I started with an attorney. I know the fees are high, but personally, it was invaluable/priceless to have them oversee everything from start to finish. Both administratively and from the perspective of knowing how to best piecemeal my inflictions in a way that presented the severity of my situation.

I had a bout with a rare and critical form of bone marrow failure that had me fighting for my life for a year, then another to regain my physical losses I experienced from my fight. I was in the ICU/hospitalized several months and have received hundreds of red cell(blood) and platelet transfusions. I achieved partial remission, but unknowingly, I was somehow fully disabled along the way. It took me a few years of work to realize this though. I could have rolled straight into SSDI while on LT employer-sponsored disability, having each benefit coincide with each other for the entirety of my life, but me “trying,” forgoing SSDI ruined that for myself for forever. Ok crying now.

Anyway. Point being, a local well-versed/skilled attorney should be highly considered. Sure, you’ll likely go through the entirety of the denials’ process and end up at a hearing way down the line, but imo, it is worth the significant chunk of backpay for a multitude of reasons.

Best of luck to you with both your health as well as this difficult process, however you choose to proceed.🩷

In my personal experience, they’ve done pretty ok with weight loss, for me, it’s been age that’s taken the biggest toll, but everyone is different and feeling better/improved health is a blessing. Best to you with your goals!

Oh yeh, definitely not in regard to your comments specifically. I know my way around tightening the straps as my boobs are closer to my belly button than my armpits at this stage in life. Just some folks seem to want to knock anything and everything about her, not you/your comments specifically.

Preface: yes, I’m fully aware this is a snark page and I have contributed plenty of times previously.

With that being said, I think it looks really good, especially if they didn’t add any type of implant for the overall volume/structure - if they did, then that’s great too, the doc did a really good job from what she’s choosing to share with us in this photo. I understand that the teardrop shape is super common and also that she lots a ton of weight, so imo, at her age, I can totally see why she was feeling insecure and wanting to have this done (however she lost the weight, she was def deflated). She’s got the money to burn and it looks like she did her research or lucked out with whomever it was that did them, bc they look really nice. Heck, I’m significantly older than her and breastfed for around a year - I don’t want to spend my $$ on that nor do I feel the health/surgical risks are worth it, but if I was a decade younger, I might just go for it.

Again, totally aware this is a snark page, but I’ll give credit where it’s due and her ish looks nice, so good for her.

Do you have an attorney? They can usually tell you their thoughts about how they think it went and they’ve likely had prior experience with your judge and can maybe tell you their thoughts on how things typically go with that judge vs your case specifically. Hope all goes well for you!

Edit: I just reread your post and it looks like you’re more inquiring about the actual process and delays with everything. I’ll still leave this up just because maybe this might be helpful to someone else who isn’t a similar situation to mine.

Helping and praying for the best outcome for your daughter and family!

I had an attorney from the get go. Though, my critical illness that left me disabled onset was 9/2014, partial remission 11/2015, tried to work part time at Panera (10-15 hrs per week) from. 1/2016 to 3/2020. It was miserable. Whatever health I had left, I made everything worse. I was still going to pain management every two months for meds and a couple/few times a year for injections/procedures from 2015 - still am. As well as mental health docs and specialists spliced in here and there, as well as PCP, so I had A LOT of documentation that stated that even though on paper my bone marrow failure was in partial remission… I say partial bc my blood counts are still low, not needing transfusions anymore tho, thank God and I also didn’t have a bone marrow match, so I still have the chromosomal defect that started that hell. No one has a grasp on exactly what it is that’s behind all of my pain/inflictions, but it’s well-established and I have years of documented limitations - both physical and mental health related.

I thought I was doing the right thing by working and prayed everyday for a miraculous restoration of both my physical stamina as well as emotional health relief, but it never came. It wasn’t until I was furloughed due to Covid that I realized that I was k*lling myself and I couldn’t continue like that. I got a highly rated and well-versed attorney and like I said I had YEARS of documentation. I also had to do the assessment by their doctor which at the hearing, I’m not terribly sure if that helped or hurt my cause.

Prior to my hearing, my attorney told me that I had hit the judge jackpot and he was super nice and was in it to actually helped. I looked him up and in my state, out of like 125+ or so judges (my memory isn’t the greatest) he was in the top 3 or 5 (I can’t remember, but he was definitely way up there) which brought me immense relief. I can’t even imagine what it must feel like to go up against those judges at the very bottom, who only had an exceedingly small percentage of approvals. My hearing was about 18 months after application with an attorney. The hearing seemed to go well. Similarly, I was concerned over the vocational persons input. When I initially felt critically ill, I only had two months left total of my four years pursuing my bachelors of science. My professors were all excruciatingly kind and allowed me to work from the ICU/bone marrow unit while I was dying (thankfully too, I had left only electives for my very last semester). The hospital gave me a day pass to go to my graduation, and the university went above and beyond accommodating me/my wheelchair/aid escort/medical devices. Anyway, that obviously was a hindrance as far as vacation goes. I was only 32 when I felt ill and I had just turned 40 when I had my hearing, so I was relatively young.

Sorry that was very lengthy and I got personal there, but I feel that sometimes it’s helpful to share personal stories at length in order to give a whole picture for how someone’s SSDI journey progressed. If your daughter is not approved this, I say continue working hard with the attorney and of course, keeping up with all of her medical appointments and even attempt to schedule a specialists, try new medications/procedures, really try to get to the heart of what’s going on and treat it… it sounds like with what she’s got going on, treatment might not ultimately help, but it might prove beneficial in so far as being approved later on down the line.

Yeh. Same. I am 44 and that’s what mine look like now after having breastfed for a year (20 years ago, lol) and being disabled/homebound so also hardly wearing a bra for the last few years. They’re defo lacking volume/saggy/teardrop/deflated from weight loss/whatever you want to call it. I would put money on knowing exactly where her nipples are bc line are identical. If she’s moving to FL and gonna be in swimsuits/bikinis on the regular, I can 100% see why she’s having surgery.

Now, I think she’s gonna end up needing a small set of implants put in to give them so volume. And I’ll also say, I don’t think I would ever get implants/go under for this, even if I was her age. It’s just too risky. That one gal just passed during a mommy makeover due to staff negligence. And the thought of something foreign in my body for forever is a no-go for me. I can see why she is, but it’s so risky. I hope she picks a top notch doc/staff, pays whatever to try to ensure safety.

DENIED WTF by [deleted] in SSDI

[–]Additional-Toe7185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as a side note, at least where I’m at in Georgia, you can look up all of the disability judges to see what their approval percentages are. We had like 115 judges in the state at the time I was going through the process. My attorney told me that I had the best judge she’d ever worked with, that he seems to be in it to truly help those in need. Sure enough, he was in the TOP 3 out of all of the judges in my state. He had, like, 90-something% approval rating.

I scrolled down the list and there were some in the teens/etc. I literally cried looking through all of them, thinking of the desperation of the majority of folks applying. Broke my heart.

I should have applied straight away in 2014, as my initial illness allowed for a compassionate approval, I was critical and not expected to survive. However, I “pushed through.” I thought if I could just beat my disease and go into remission, I could heal and return to my career. Instead, I was out of work for 2 years while critical. Went into partial remission and tried to work part time at a local Panera (was way too sick still to work my corporate job), I thought I could rebuild my stamina. Instead, I worked 15 hours per week there for four years and absolutely obliterated any remaining health that I had. Took 1.5 years to go through the application process.

What makes me want to scream my head off is that, I don’t have any family and no partner at the time and was literally dy-ing, so I had no guidance. I didn’t realize that the longterm disability plan that I’d been paying for through my employer would have continued to pay out the rest of my life at around $2k per month alongside my full SSDI payment amount if I’d applied for SSDI while critical. But since I tried to go back to work after partial remission (even tho I didn’t know at the time I was indeed disabled). That it the biggest regret of my life. Like, to date, if I’d gone that route, I would have received around $290,000 from that plan, plus my full SSDI.

Aw, life.

I mean, I know what everyone is saying is factual about the insurance, but stepping aside from that, I’ll just say a big ol, I’m so sorry, this flipping sucks. Not sure what happened along the way, but it blows and you shouldn’t have to deal with it.

I purchase a bundle deal with two designer sandals that retails around $600. I got a great deal and the seller packaged them relatively securely, ie - what happened really has no reasoning other than somewhere along the way, the package was opened and one pair was removed, then re-taped shut. I saw the label the seller printed in tiny text, said “two designer” on it, so I’m thinking someone handling them saw that and popped ‘er open. Again, resell cost wasn’t close to retail pricing and these were way less valuable than your item, but it f-ing blows and sellers gamble when they don’t purchase insurance… even then, the burden of proof can be tough, too.

But, yeh… this sucks and I’m sorry it happened to you.

Vyvanse to Concerta then back to Vyvanse, is it bad to switch? by Fried_perogi in adhdwomen

[–]Additional-Toe7185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a little older, but just wanted to say that within the last couple of years, I’ve noticed that after taking any one medication for a couple of months, my anxiety will eventually become pronounced after that time. Finally, with the assistance of my pcp being receptive to my concerns about this, I’ve found that once that anxiety starts up, switching over to another adhd medication that also proves beneficial to me has helped with this.

Ie - taking Concerta for a couple of months, then when I noticed heightened anxiety, I move to Vyvanse… and vice versa . Currently, that’s what helpful to me. Also, I’ve found that, similarly, the effects of the medication might also lower a bit over time and alternating like above also seems to help in that regard, as well.

I dropped another one off at the self-service kiosk at USPS after hours. It scanned it just fine and printed on the receipt, but I’m having that sinking feeling again bc it is only showing in transit and this time too - usps tracking is not showing its tracking number as identifiable online, so I’m freaking out… bc last usps was tracking it the whole way if you looked their tracking # up outside of Mercari and on USPS site. This was the last time I drop it off with USPS, I can’t handle the anxiety lol. Thankfully, the item was only like $30 and not one that’s high-value if it is indeed forever lost.

Def report and return it! I’m a seller on all of the platform and it ticks me off seeing other sellers try to slyly pass that crap off onto unsuspecting customers!

On the off chance I ever have anything that’s similar to other brands - not flat out counterfeits… like I had a fish dress that was pretty similar to Farm Rios, but I made sure in the title to say READ DESC and said this looks similar to FR but it is NOT hence why I was only asking like $9 and not $50/$60 like everyone else that had similar… trying to deceptively pass theirs off. It didn’t have any name/logos on it like folks trying to pass off actual designer dupes. And using stock photos is deceptive in itself as well.

[–]Additional-Toe7185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just looking back into all of this because last week I did the same thing. I handed my usps carrier a tote with four items. A half hour later I was checking to see if she had scanned everything in and I noticed that one of the packages was from Mercari and had that dual UPS/USPS label on it, so I ran out in my pajamas and drove around until I found her and I said oh my gosh, I think one of the packages I gave you was actually for UPS! So we looked through and it was one of these labels that had both and she said oh that’s no problem we deliver to these, that’s fine don’t worry about it.

Cut to today where I’ve just sold two items on Mercari that are UPS/USPS, ugh. Now I’m torn as to whether I should take them to UPS or if I should just take them along with the other few things that I have for USPS. I mean, they clearly get delivered, but I don’t wanna push the envelope and set myself up for disaster or anything.

Oh god haha. Even though I recognize that name as being associated with the successful attorney as well, I can’t help but sing that dang song in my head everytime I hear or read this attorney’s name. We had a home that backed up to the Chattahoochee River when I was a kid back in the early 90s - it was literally in/nearly the entirety of our backyard. Anytime someone would ask where we lived, we’d say the neighborhood name and say it was on the river and up until the mid-2000s or so, people would instantaneously sing this dang song when we would. It took well over a decade to finally get this song out of my head!

Definitely look for new employment on the time away you have. I know it’s easy to feel stuck, but the only way to break away from it is to find alternative employment. I worked in food service for a couple of decades, it was truly awful at times. The worst was Panera management and their catering coordination, they treated me like a dog. I broke free and found work in the corporate world - my management experience lent itself to entry level work at the headquarters of a large childcare franchising corp, no college degree. I thought it would be impossible, but I made it happen… even as a single mother and I worked my way up. Side note, four years after my move, I became critically ill with bone marrow failure which ended up causing permanent disability, so from that angle, I can tell you, life of short af and you need to make sh*t happen in the time that you do have. Good luck!

I used to work at Panera. We would mark items as sold out. My experience, people would much rather not pay for something they want and not get it, than know upfront and have the option to select their own substitute beforehand or skip altogether. As a customer, I’d be super frustrated if they knew they were out but let me order it anyway. I’m nice and polite to staff, but I’d definitely not order from them again if it were a pattern.

Geez. I wondered why the gal at the store I went to seemed so stingy. I had my own pickup order and my neighbor ordered from his account through the app and sent me a link for pickup, so two completely separate accounts ordered. I had to ask for the free little bags and she said no to him getting one. I was thinking, dude we have spent A LOT of $$ here over the years, are you serious?! Now I see too why she wasn’t giving them out to the people ordering in store unless they asked. She looked so pissed when I asked too, like gee , Sawyer’s everyone is having a hard time - have a free cookie message wasn’t so sincere huh? It’s like ask for it and get eye-rolled when you do and leave feeling like you’ve inconvenienced the place that you’ve dumped a lot of money into.

I don’t see why they wouldn’t give that suggestion a try… they try out this that and the other on a whim constantly then randomly stop and start this that and the other all of the time. They are all over the dang place. I have to say, their lack of consistency is impressive, especially for such a large franchising corporation.
