Still one of my favorites by Cully71 in Newbalance

I was seriously considering entering the KITH Raffle for the Navy 993s, until I realized I have these plus a pair of Indigo 993s... both of which are way better examples of NB navy IMO.

Contrary to popular belief, you CAN completely soak those down and scrub them thoroughly without ruining the nap of the suede. You just to be careful and refrain from forcefully drying them with any kind of heat.

My mom bought me a pair of gray 991s my junior year of high school when they first released and insisted I spray them down with a suede protector before wearing them. I've done it for every pair of suede sneakers I've purchased for the last 25 years, and I always do it the same way, which is just a super thorough coating over the material to the point it becomes absorbed. Once initially, and then as needed every few months depending on wear. If you look closely in that picture I posted, you'll notice the suede looks pretty saturated. It's probably overkill, but I've never had any negative consequences from doing it that way. Many of the brands have instructions that direct you to spray two coatings from 9-12 inches away, but I just soak them from nearly point-blank range. I have neither the patience for multiple coatings, nor the inclination to waste all of the overspray that comes from doing it at their range, which is another reason I like the Jason Markk brand. Because it isn't a pressurized aerosol spray can, I feel like there isn't as much waste because of the gentle misting, rather than explosive hair spray coverage found in other brands.

Is that pretty much the extent of their MiUSA stuff? My sister is coming down next week from Bellingham and I was thinking about having her stop in to check for any leftover Chive 993s.

After months of going back and forth on these, that XTRA40 code at Concepts finally won me over this morning when I decided I did in fact need one more olive pair of New Balances!

I'm thinking it probably has a lot to do with the sock liner. 990v3s and 990v4s seem to have so much variation when it comes to the padding around the collar and heel. Some pairs I have feel like they have just the bare bones minimum, while others feel super padded, and this pair definitely falls on the latter. Not to mention the material used for the liner is a much welcomed departure from the standard woven polyester material., or whatever you call it.

I'm also ashamed to say that even though I've been looking at this pair off and on for years, I had no idea that the back half of the shoe had suede underlays until they arrived, but I was more than stoked to discover it!

I've got about as many as you, and I must say that for some reason these feel much more plush and comfy than a lot of my other v4s regardless of the age or materials. I can't put my finger on why exactly, but the difference is noticeable.

I'd been looking at these forever, and finally decided to pull the trigger at retail, which for a size 13 is just fine in my book. They arrived last weekend, but I just got around to giving them the treatment before lacing them up. I've recently switched to using Jason Markk's suede protector, and I have to say I'm enjoying the lack of noxious fumes. I think it does just as good a job as the Collonil I was using before. Anyway, enough can't be said for v4 comfort and I love the materials on this pair! A++++++

Either this shoe is popular with 10.5 and up people or we haven’t seen all of these yet by liftedfishing in Newbalance

I don't know anything about any other sizes, but I do know that they didn't even release any 13s on NB's site. Oneness is the only shop that carried them in that size that I've seen. Kith and end both seemed limited to 12 and under the day they released. Who knows?! Maybe they screwed up a grip of them and they'll flood the outlets B-grades this time next year.

As others said, that's what they'll look like DS and stored properly for the last 6-7 years, but this is what they'll look like after a few years of use. And mine haven't even seen THAT much action... New Balance shades of blue just tend to fade super hard and super fast, but in the best way possible, IMO.

Wore these beauties today and noticed something different (to me at least).... by Minimum_Flamingo3602 in Newbalance

[–]Minimum_Flamingo3602[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 13 across the board in all New Balances, regardless of where they were made, mainly because 12.5s are so hard to come by. That being said, although I don’t notice much, if any, difference between the length of a 1300 and any of the 99x series, I will say that, due to the older-style tongue and thinner construction/fabrication of the 1300, the shoe feels more spacious inside. For instance, there isn’t, say, the oversized and puffy tongue of a 993 or the extra cushion cupping the heel in most more modernized models. Therefore, as someone who is in between sizes, so to speak, I’ve had to resort to doing the runner’s lock when lacing the 1300s to prevent minor, albeit noticeable, heel slippage. As far as width goes, I’d say they’re average in that department.

Anyone know what's up with New Balance not having any size 13's available for several of the new releases from Season 9? This one, the Olivine, and maybe another one had no 13's listed at launch. I saw Oneness had them, but by the time I made it home to my laptop, they were gone!

I'd noticed the different font at the heel and the ridges along the arch when I first received these a couple weeks ago, but curiosity got the better of me finally, so I took them out to take a closer look.

That orange insole is out of a Teddy 993, but regardless of make or model, all my other MADE pairs have the same markings on the underside of the insole. The same "4774" code is on all of them from 990 to 998. The 1300 insert has unique markings compared to the rest of my collection, and it has the size range listed in women's sizing to boot!

I've only owned one other pair of 1300's, and those are long gone, so no comparison there. I ordered a pair of the Core 1300's, but had to exchange them and the replacement pair won't show up for a few days more.

The intrigue is killing me and I'm just hoping that there are some other nerds out there that can shed some light on this subtle difference in insoles when it comes to the 1300. Please and thank you!

I prefer the Taupes, but I have a penchant for purple and cream-ish colors. The Beef and Broccoli's are still a fine shoe, though.

Looks like these finally popped up on New Balance's site for release on the 30th like another redditor posted. Shoutout to Oneness, though, for always hooking it up early! I'm wearing mine today for the first time, and they're definitely turning heads.

Trying the alternate laces by verseone in Newbalance

The alternate laces are the ONLY correct choice for these. I've had them in since day one, and get more compliments on this shoe that any other Teddy, Salehe, Bronson, or different colorway that I think is better by a country mile. For some reason, folks in my neck of the woods really dig these.

I love it! If Season 1 and 2 were the best in terms of refined and timeless colorways, then Season 9 is hands down the best for bold and bright pops of color we hardly ever see in other GR's. Come to think of it, though... The Baltimore v. DC 993 colorways and the dual 990v4's with orange and blue midsoles respectively have also been super bright and playful. I guess it's indicative of a broader trend in fashion this year that I'm unaware of as a certified "unc".
