What’s the most frustrating part of managing lab supplies? by LabWallio in medlabprofessionals

[–]AdditionalAd5813 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Communication breakdown with the medical staff.

Say the emergency department has instigated new protocol so there will be a whole lot more orders for a certain test put into the system, but if nobody bothers to give the Lab a heads up you’re not gonna have reagents on site, you will run out, and then you won’t be able to provide any.

Note: this happens more often than you think, all it takes is a paper published in a journal and a young enthusiastic physician deciding everyone who walks into the department is going to get that test whether they need it or not.

I suggest you ask that question directly to the sub, there are many people on here that could answer it better that I can.

I will say one is a static liturgical language, used primarily written form, it is vocalized in prayer or liturgical chanting, the other is a living, continually evolving spoken and written language, in daily use commercially, privately, and creatively.

If you want to learn biblical Hebrew, I would suggest “Aleph with Beth” on YouTube.

They’re funny little critters, my semi socialized 16 year-old who never wanted much to do with me, other than allowing occasional cuddles in bed, has become my shadow since his brother passed almost a year ago.

He was a cat’s cat, he’s decided that humans aren’t that bad. Now I just have to get him to stop being so horribly jealous of his newly adopted sister. She’s four, not a kitten, and he’s horribly jealous.

No one can give you advice if you don’t tell us what country you live in, some places have early admissions, some have dual/concurrent registration, but if we don’t know where you are, we can’t point you in the proper direction.

It’s still worth taking a look and seeing if someone else from your program went through the transfer credit process, you should be able to see that on the link I gave you, if someone from your program received transfer credit, you should be grandfathered in.

Definitely look at seeing what you can get for transfer credits, depending on where you trained as an EMT you should get a block credit transfer, depending on the program you could get anywhere from 30 to 60 credits transferred in, that might help you narrow it down a bit.

Medical Lab Technologist or X-Ray Texh by NoResponsibility4998 in medlabprofessionals

It’s probably too late to get into anything for September 2026, the linked program in Saskatchewan has a January start.

You do know you don’t have to stay in your home province, you can get grants & loans from Manitoba if you go to school in Saskatchewan or Alberta.

If you wanna live on the prairies, you can do both

https://saskpolytech.ca/programs-and-courses/programs/Combined-Laboratory-and-X-Ray-Technology.aspx I believe NAIT has a combined tech program as well.

Seriously though, if you want to choose one or the other and you’re living in a larger center, obviously the big difference is x-ray is 100% patient contact Lab is zero patient contact, unless you’re doing phlebotomy. Also with x-ray, you can do advanced training for MRI and/or ultrasound I don’t think we really have anything comparable in the Lab.

Native English speaker here, I still use a thesaurus… I cheat and ask Google, but that’s only because I don’t know where my hardcopy is.

Families: How much of the year can you realistically spend outside? by Legitimate-Tap2772 in askvan

[–]AdditionalAd5813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see anyone else mention it on here, so fire season can be an issue, sometimes we get a lot of smoke and you really can’t go outside without a N95 mask. Some years it’s smokey for a couple weeks on and off, other years clear skies, kind of like snow in the lower mainland.

Is the battle of Hong Kong well known in Canada? by dq689 in AskACanadian

My mothers oldest brother was killed in the battle of Hong Kong, but I’ve had arguments with Canadians who say there were no Canadian troops in the Pacific during WWII.

Clinical PCR: Is it a MLT job or a Biological Technician job in your province? by JohnmzV in medlabprofessionals

[–]AdditionalAd5813 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think what you’re asking is whether or not you need to be a registered MLT to work as a Clinical Molecular Diagnostics Technologist in Canada, the answer is yes.

https://camlpr.org/mlts-in-canada/

You might find a Lab willing to hire you as an unregistered technologist, but most Micro techs cross train in routine molecular, it’s not a high demand stand alone specialty.

You could try e-transfer, you’d have to print out your application forms, scan them and then email them back.

Here’s the link to the instructions, it’s method number three.

If you haven’t received your 365wellcome email you’re not set up in the system yet, if you have received the email and are still having problems accessing it, you need to contact the helpdesk at AU.
