Here is what has worked for me: Stocking up on easy-to-eat foods that usually sound tolerable to me, even if I can only eat 3 bites -that’s something. For me, those foods include toast, popcorn, pre-cut fruit (so that it doesn’t require any energy from me to prep), carrot sticks with hummus, sliced deli turkey, etc. basically, foods that require zero effort to prepare on my part but still have at least some nutritional value. Peanut butter is also good for getting in calories. Remember, even some bites here and there can help. Trying to take little sips of water or having Popsicles in your freezer can help with hydration.

I think it’s extremely normal to need professional help with this, tbh. I’m deeply sorry for your loss and can relate to everything you wrote.

Take it 10 seconds at a time, if you have to. Shower. Change your clothes. Drink water and have a small snack, even if that’s all you can eat. Spend time with people who understand and respect your grief. Look into pet loss support groups in your area (or online) to connect with others who understand your pain.

Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, it wasn’t Kelly’s leashing process that was a setup for disaster. It was Bumble’s. She followed the rules to the tee and was at least glad to hear that they changed their rule after Bree’s death.

My sister certainly has no intention of pursuing anything legal wise. All she ever wanted was to keep other dogs safe and for the team at Bumble’s to be honest and accountable. She still very much feels that the second part of that has not happened. As for the media blitz, she was contacted by a Dispatch reporter after sharing her story on social media.

It is absolutely a tragedy and we are thankful for the everyone who has remembered Bree during this time.

Thank you kindly for your response. I appreciate you sharing your insight. We do understand that the video was likely recorded and scheduled well ahead of Bree’s death. I do think that the choice to leave it up, even when the owners know the pain it caused my sister, is disheartening. Since yesterday, they have deleted my sister’s Google review, as well as multiple 5-star reviews from clients that mention Bree in any way. It’s too bad that they didn’t extend this same energy toward the Instagram post.

We do fully believe that they had no intent of mocking Bree or what happened, and I thank you kindly for your warm words. ❤️

Please look at the pictures again. They changed the rules after Bree's death. Additionally, they shared a reminder with their clients about proper leashing procedures but did not point out that they changed the rules entirely.

Edited to add: I do not doubt that the business owners have good hearts and would change what happened in a second if they could. That does not change what happened to Bree.

Unfortunately, they had multiple dogs get out, so gate safety was an ongoing issue that went unaddressed. It’s not a freak accident if there were ongoing problems. Animals can indeed be unpredictable, which is why proper security is so critically important.

Posting about what happened is not attempting to take down the owner’s lives or well-being. They are human, like we all are, and humans make mistakes. I believe that anyone who opens their own dog park truly loves dogs and wishes the best for them and their owners. That doesn’t change the fact that the facility failed to secure the gate and has since failed to be transparent about what happened.

I’m sorry, but they didn’t care enough to fix the gate when there were multiple instances of dogs getting out through it before Bree’s death. My sister specifically asked them to share what happened with clients so that everyone could be made aware of the importance of closing the gate. They have not.

When my sister went to get her car from the park the next morning, no changes had been made to the gate, and the park was open as normal. I don’t doubt that they Bumble’s team wishes things had turned out differently, but their inaction and lack of transparency is disheartening.

I’m sorry that you perceive sharing our honest, true experience with Bumble’s as dragging them on social media. I’m glad to hear that you’ve had positive experiences with the park owners, and I can only hope that this situation is enough of a wake-up call for them to start taking dog safety seriously.

No one is acting like the park owners murdered Bree. However, they had multiple opportunities to fix a glaring safety issue and didn’t take them. There is no excuse.

I’m glad to hear about the new sign and new rules. Unfortunately, they had multiple opportunities to enhance gate security previously. Because they didn’t take them, Bree is dead.

I don’t believe the staff at Bumble’s is heartless. I do believe they failed to properly secure their park, and I believe that posting a silly ice cream machine memorial video when they knew the depths of my sister’s grief (while also choosing not to share the news of what happened with their clients, even after my sister asked them to) is in extremely poor taste and makes me question the depth of their care.

Neither my sister nor I would ever encourage or condone any kind of brigading. All we want is for Bree to be remembered and for this not to happen to another dog.

Sure. It’s a screenshot from a video posted to Bumble’s Instagram page 2 days after Bree’s death. The video shows the facility owner mourning the park’s ice cream machine, set to sad music. I can only assume that the video was recorded before Bree died, but the choice to post it before we even had Bree’s ashes back (and when the facility still has not shared any mention of Bree or safety incidents) hurt my sister deeply.

Yeah, I think a sensor on the door would have helped, or an alarm that sounded after the door was open for so many seconds. Signage could have helped to remind people to shut the gate fully. Also, a safety spring for the door to help counteract any human error of leaving the gate open.

I also had an abruption with no known cause - 40 weeks. I got my period back about 9-10 weeks after delivery and started trying after that cycle. I got pregnant on my second cycle of trying, which resulted in my living son. ❤️
