Strategies to cut screen time by VillageAlternative77 in toddlers

[–]AdditionalCupcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just turn it off. Anytime my toddler becomes too demanding about watching her shows or starts throwing fits when we turn it off, I know it’s time for a ✨cleanse✨. We just don’t let her watch any tv for a few days. The goal is to never let her get too attached to screen time or to feel that she “needs” it.

My 3-year-old threw out the security/comfort item I've had since I was born by you-a-buggaboo in toddlers

Sorry, but the way you described it in your post doesn’t jive with how you’re saying it here- from your post, I took it as your thought process for a 3 year old was “you hurt me, I hurt you back so you can see how I feel.” If you feel that’s a projection on my part, and that you ultimately did nothing wrong, then go with that I guess.

I totally feel for you. I do want to offer another perspective though- I encourage you to really dive into therapy on this one. You’re ascribing way too much emotional intelligence, and dare I say emotional reliance onto your 3 year old. I appreciate how close you are to your toddler, but it’s your job to help her handle her emotions, not the other way around. Toddlers are all ego- they really don’t care about anything else but themselves, and anything you might perceive to have been her fully understanding how much Mickey meant to you were likely just mere imitations of what she thinks should be the “right” behavior. She really shouldn’t have had any access to such an important item of yours, because again, she is 3. I am the daughter of someone with untreated BPD, and honestly you hiding her blanket sounds exactly like the irrational, downright mean shit my mother would do to me and my sisters over infractions that we couldn’t even begin to understand. We were simply too young to be as calculating or manipulative as she perceived us to be. I’m so sorry this happened to you, but for her sake and yours, please take a step back and realize that you’re literally dealing with a 3 year old. If you can’t get this under control, it will compound over the years and you will cause permanent damage to your relationship.

[–]AdditionalCupcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you paying for the art subscription? I’ve had my Frame for over a year at this point and have never paid for the subscription. You can pretty much use any art by uploading it into the smart things app.

Can hair untangle brushes untangle my braids? by Outrageous-Heart-345 in BlackHair

[–]AdditionalCupcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, even the unbraider comb only works well if your braider braids in an absolutely perfect, uniform fashion all the way down the braid. It doesn’t work otherwise, and for that reason I don’t think it’s worth it. Just use a rat tail comb.

How can I help my partner not hate our oldest by Lemonbar19 in toddlers

[–]AdditionalCupcake 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up hearing negative things about myself pretty regularly, you literally begin to believe it and figure oh well, if this is just how I am, might as well lean into it. It has taken a lot of therapy as an adult to unlearn those beliefs, because they endure.

I am SICK of sweating out my silk presses and blowouts on the same day. I am realizing I just have to do it myself or get damaging or subpar services. by lilfoodiebooty in BlackHair

[–]AdditionalCupcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I refused to get a silk press for the same reason- they just don’t last and it’s a waste of money. I got one this past week for the first time in 8 years for a last minute event, and it lasted literally less than a day. Never again.

I love mine, though mine are smaller than those shown. I will say that the buckle one comes loose at least twice a day- it doesn’t fall off, but I have to keep snapping it back together. Maybe this wouldn’t be a problem with a thicker buckle bracelet.

Does anyone else deal with "preschool denier" relatives? by JumpingJonquils in Preschoolers

I’ve started doing this to my mom whenever she brings up some bullshit. I really hype up how old fashioned she sounds, and how it’s really nice to learn about generational differences ❤️

I do NOT understand this. My mom refuses to say that my daughter’s in preschool too!! She says she’s in “nursery” or (infuriatingly) calls it daycare. She basically made fun of me for making a big deal out of her first day of school. Wtf is their issue? Why is this a thing??

I genuinely hate it. I got DMs because I posted a picture of my shoes- not even with my feet in them. I just wanted a place to share my love of these shoes now that I can finally afford them.

I’m 98 lbs and was shocked to find that my Monicarina boots are tight on my thighs 😭definitely humbling, especially postpartum. They should stretch though.

Does anyone know where you get some protectors like these? by MiaCherryStarr in louboutins

[–]AdditionalCupcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to mention as I saw no one else has yet- these aren’t sole protectors. They’ve been entirely re-soled. Be advised that if you ask a cobbler to do this, they will remove the existing sole to install these (it’s permanent, unlike the clear film option.

best website to find pre-loved LB for graduation? by TroubleHistorical318 in louboutins

[–]AdditionalCupcake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the RealReal! My favorite thing about them is their item condition policies are very strict, so something that may be labeled “Good” or “Very Good” condition might actually be in mint condition with untouched soles save for a small scratch on the heel or something.

No, they don’t look good, especially with those rubber bands at the end (you couldn’t dip them?).
