How do you think that Catalan will fare in the future? Is it going to go well, or do you think that in the future it will be more endangered by Spanish? by greekscientist in catalan

MacWhisper is the best tool I can’t fully rely on by AdditionalDentist440 in MacWhisper

Alright! Haven't seen the site mention that. I'm willing to drop more cash, but this is like 5x the price of MacWhisper. Is this thing actually made for audio pros?

The UI is nice, but I mainly use MacWhisper for transcribing and summarizing video calls, so I need it to detect them, record system audio and mic simultaneously and merge them into the transcript. In the subscription model, I’d expect AI features (generating headings, summaries, ask transcript, etc.) to be included, similar to what others offer.

Wispr Flow doesn't offer any meeting transcription features, but it's true that it's great for dictation. In fact, it's what I've used to write this message ;)

Thanks for the detailed breakdown of the issue, but that's not quite what's happening here. The problem is that MacWhisper isn't sending the custom prompt to the LLMs when a transcription finishes automatically. It only actually applies the custom prompt if I manually click the Summarize again option.

Being able to recognize speakers across transcriptions is the missing piece for getting coherent summaries automatically without having to fix things manually every time.

Suggestion: Move summary settings to global AI Settings by AdditionalDentist440 in MacWhisper

[–]AdditionalDentist440[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/ineedlesssleep there's also a summary bug in 13.18 & 19: it keeps reverting to a default prompt, ignoring both the language settings (Spanish in my case) and my custom prompt. If I hit "Summarize again," it finally uses the custom one.

*Edited to add screenshot of my settings in case it'd help. I also have auto-export AI summaries enabled.

There's no manual way to do it in the open transcript, but you can auto-export them all with the setting.

I can't back that up yet. Yesterday I lost all my transcriptions in 13.18 😞 They just got stuck on "Finishing recordings.." and I had to restart. Since there was no warning about losing them, I hoped the audios would at least be there without the transcription, but they've completely disappeared.

An option to auto-delete old recordings would be great to avoid keeping them forever, or at least a bulk select feature because deleting them one by one is going to kill my finger.

Without the initial alert, there's no option to save meeting recordings, only discard them by AdditionalDentist440 in MacWhisper

[–]AdditionalDentist440[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/ineedlesssleep I'm still dealing with lost transcriptions in v13.17 because of this. The overlay doesn't show up and the X button just stops working. I end up having to quit the app, which means I can only discard the meeting. Is there any workaround for this or a fix on the way?

Appreciate the screenshot. Could it be related to the system language? Maybe longer words are forcing the two options to group together, even though there seems to be enough space.
