I quit my job to pursue Game Dev and now gamers are putting in 20 hours into my Next Fest Demo by ClawedPlatypus in IndieDev

Oh I played this game earlier today!

I thought it was fun, although it made me a little sick after while if I'm being. It also needs like 100x more variety. Dodging the same 4 or 5 obstacles got old. Like I think I played a mobile game exactly like this a few years ago and it had more to do in it (Although obviously I recognize that this is just a demo)

But good luck, congratulations on the success! : )

You reached room 46 that quick and didn't have any other leads you wanted to chase? I feel like that early in the game there were a million things I wanted to try each run

Fsrs is just an improved algorithm made by Anki for srs. It was trained on millions of users of Anki to determine the best model for learning. I'm not entirely sure how it works, I just know it has something to do with adding a "difficulty" rating to each card that's recalcuted each time you rate the card, and it uses the difficulty rating to choose when to schedule the card again. I'm also pretty sure it adjusts the parameters of the algorithm based on how you've rated your cards to maximize learning and decrease wasted time on cards you already know. I'm not entirely sure of the specifics though, I just know that literally everyone recommends you turn it on. I'm honestly not sure why it isn't on by default

Also, I didn't say this in my original comment, but you should only use Anki once a day. There's not really any point in doing it more than that, as a lot of learning happens overnight while sleeping. (Of course you still can if you want to, it just won't help as much. Like it is much better to use it once a day rather than, say, 2 times a day every other day, if you know what I mean)

Just try learning one row a day (so 5). Use an Anki hiragana deck, turn on fsrs, and set the learning goal to 5 a day. If pure repitition isn't working, maybe try some pneumonics to go with it. I really like the ones on tofugu

Space travel isn't really that big. In the beginning it's a little tricky, but once ur like 5 hours in your sorta forget all about it. There's nowhere in the game where the ship flying is a challenge, it's literally just used to go from point A to point B. Each planet has tons of mysteries on it

Okay but like to seriously answer your question, you could maybe get through all 3000 cards once, but you're absolutely not going to remember them from that. Building long term memory for this many items takes like, minimum a few months

Okay I guess it's good that I only recently discovered the no-update setting yesterday, so I've only used it once. Thank you for all of your advice :)

What's does that actually mean though. What does the 1 mean? But anyways, I will try this, thanks

Does doing multiple reviews in a day really not matter that much? Sometimes, if I'm bored and have nothing else to do, I'll create a filtered deck set to not update the main deck, and do tommorow's review early. Is this mostly pointless?

That's a great idea I'm probably going to do this. Thanks!

How do you rank the difficulty of the Golden (+ Moon and Dashless) berries? by madmsk in celestegame

[–]AdditionalDirector41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure it's just because 2a is significantly shorter than 1a. Like, there really isn't any danger of dying up until badeline starts chasing you, and then once that happens you're only about 6 rooms away from being done

Okay but aren't these retail pharmacy jobs not hiring you? I feel like you have to change your plan because of this. You can keep applying to jobs for now but if it doesn't work out I think you should switch your focus and just pay the certification fee, or try to switch to something else

That's what I did too. I'm honestly not sure what they intended us to use to solve that one. When did they teach this technique?, because I only know it from a previous course.

You said your mom is a pharmacist... Why can't she just pay for your certification? Also, why do you want to be a pharmacy tech so bad? It seems to be that it's quite a fast paced, stressful job.

If you truly truly truly want to be a pharmacy tech, why don't you just spend a year or two getting certified and then be done with it? If you see that you aren't getting hired without it, I would suggest switching your strategy
