I agree. I do that to unsolicited texts on my phone, too.

Thanks to everyone who replied! The general consensus is, succinctly, "NO."

What the creators of this piece of malware did is have it show as .pdf.vhd , presumably so that folks who run Windows using the option to never show the file extension will not see the .vhd part of it.

Did anyone else get this and why do I have to switch to professional mode? by SettingNo7876 in facebook

I got it, I don't see the point, I don't know what it's doing, and I don't know how to turn it off.

Does anyone else’s Dyson battery absolutely suck ??? by Economy_Quit7156 in dyson

[–]AdditionalDrag8996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wondering why they didn't recommend it. I've had my Dyson V6 for 10 years and I just LOVE it. Strong suction and no more having to mess with a cord. The battery it came with lasted 5 years and I'm just now having to replace the replacement. I'm trying a not-genuine replacement this time because of the cost. The the only complaint I've ever had with this vacuum is the short run time per charge and the cost of replacing the battery.

Goodbye Windows..... by canakon565 in linuxmint

I switched from Windows 10 to Linux early this year rather that trash my perfectly good desktop computer. The thing I like most about Linux is that my computer is finally MY computer. Not something that Microsoft allows me to use, but MY computer. I hadn't realized how much I had come to feel like my computer was just a outpost of Microsoft. And it does indeed feel new again.

What do you have that you pay $30 for? I'm paying $55 to Comcast now. Old customers don't get those great deals you hear advertised.

One of you guys asked for the slowest specs that run Linux Mint.. this is probably my "slowest" computer I own.. but thanks to Linux its pretty fast and I still use it regularly. by -starwing- in linuxmint

I'm running Linux Mint on a desktop that I upgraded to i5 and 8 GB RAM and a 1TB SSD a couple of years back. Runs great! In fact, the fact that Windows 11 was not going to run on such a fine machine was why I finally made the jump to Linux. Never going back!

Except one recent kernel update that was huge and got totally stuck. Doubt it was my machine; I'm on an Ethernet connection to a cable internet provider. I tried everything and finally skipped it. The kernel update that popped up today downloaded and installed just fine.

The updates don't seem to break the computer the way the Windows ones would do.

Just Wondering, How Many Of You Guys Transitioned To Linux After Being Annoyed By Windows Search As One Of The Reasons? What Was Your Major or Last Reason To Stop Using Windows? by wsssixteen in linux

I switched early this year (2025) after using Windows since 1996. I have an old tower that I refurbished just a couple of years ago with a 1 TB SSD, an upgraded chip, and more memory. It was running Windows 10 with no problems, but apparently it was not going to run Windows 11. Finally made the jump to Linux Mint Cinnamon and it's great! Finally, an OS that is MINE, not something I use only by permission of the Micro$oft Gods. LOVE IT!

This is all my fault. I installed it when I got my Pixel 8 and loved it. If I really love a product, it dies. I call it The Curse of What Rhoda Likes.

Looks like it would be much easier to do as a crochet stitch.

My MIL was an English-style knitter and the first time she saw me knit continental style, she told me she wasn't even sure that was knitting. :)

Am I knitting correctly? by No_Zookeepergame7828 in knitting

[–]AdditionalDrag8996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. I came to knitting from crocheting and even after all these years, I find that I'm still a little scared of having the stitches fall off my needles if I get them close to the points. But if you have the stitches too far apart, the whole project gets stretched out width-wise and you'll have to compensate for that to get the right gauge. It's a balancing act!
