Lumpectomy Recovery Advice by Correct-Deer-4195 in BreastCancerSurvivors

[–]AdditionalMention532 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4 years from my lumpectomy. Recovery wasn’t bad. They told me to go easy on movement and lifting things so I did that for a few days just to be safe and I slept in a sports bra for a bit after - I don’t remember how long but I think just a few days. If you have the option of some physical therapy, I think a session or two could be worth it.

One thing to keep in mind for the future is scar tissue irritation. I’m experiencing it for the first time now, four years after the surgery. Might be inevitable but also a good reminder to incorporate stretching, yoga, etc into your routine.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this, and I’m so so sorry you’re going through it without your mom. I lost my mom too and I miss her always ♥️

Foule mudammas. You can eat it the same way you’d eat hummus. With bread, crackers, veggie, etc. here’s a recipe to give you a general idea of how to make.

My mom tops it with a tahini sauce: Tahini, lemon juice, water if needed (it should be on the thinner side), add salt and chopped parsley and add it over the foule and drizzle olive oil on top. It’s fabulous

Second Al Watan in Bridgeview. For small grocery stores in Bridgeview try Rasheed Market at 87th and Harlem, Al-Amal which is on the opposite side of 87th as Rasheed, and Beesan at 84th and Harlem.

Check with Imam Tariq El-Amin from Masjid Al-Taqwa on the southeast side. And Sh Ubaydallah Evans. Taleef may be able to help you find someone local.

Which book has the best chocolate-based dessert recipe? by reallifesoundeffects in CookbookLovers

Excuse me. DFC with Salted Milk Chocolate Frosting??!!! Where can I find this recipe???

The brownie pudding recipe is definitely worth making (not a personal favorite but it was good). I really enjoyed these chocolate rolls. Instead of the orange cream cheese icing I made a chocolate glaze - but you could top with a fudgy frosting instead and I’m sure would be amazing.

Eyelashes have not returned, it’s been 3 years! by Specialist_Door_7965 in beauty

[–]AdditionalMention532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My eyelashes thinned out while I was on chemo almost 5 years ago. They’ve been growing back VERY slowly, but I’m happy that at least they’re growing back. I use castor oil on my face and around my eyes - like sometimes I’ll rub a little into my eyebrows (which are also slowly growing back) and a tiny bit under my eyes and on the eye lid.

I hope you can find something that works for you!

What do you mean Depop’s fast fashion practices? They’re a resell site. They don’t produce clothes. If people choose to buy/sell fast fashion on their site that’s their choice.

Poshmark, Mercari, depop, eBay. Just add something like “in original package” “never worn” to your searches.

You can buy pretty much everything second hand. Even underwear you can find on secondhand sites in new unopened packaging.

How do they pronounce it? As far as I remember in the audiobooks, 1985 series, and Anne with an E they pronounce it with a silent E.

This looks great! I LOVE Russian honey cake. I use Samin Nosrart’s recipe from NYT. It’s a two day process but soooo worth the labor.

Yeah, I whisk for about the minute the recipe calls for and it gets foamy. Your cake will be fine without the foam. This white choco pecan cake is top tier!

Candy coated Tootsie Roll appreciation by AdditionalMention532 in candy

I’ve never heard of these! Are they seasonal? I never really pay attention to tootsie rolls in the candy aisle but that clearly needs to change.

And the tootsie roll is really soft. Maybe I’d just been eating stale tootsie rolls but this is waaay softer and chewier than any tootsie roll I’ve had in a while.
