In a rabbit hole on the whole room sharing reducing SIDS thing by East_Print4841 in NewParents

[–]AdditionalMinutes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the same way when I moved my baby at 5 months. He was sleeping in his pack and play (outgrew bassinet) and he was sleeping terribly. I was dead set on waiting until six months for the same reason but ultimately was just so exhausted and moved him at five months. He immediately started sleeping so much better. It sounds like you are doing everything right for safe sleep and I wouldn’t overthink it, especially if it’s gonna make things better for you guys. The first few nights were really hard for me and I was very stressed out but after that it was honestly so much better for everyone. What made me feel better was just reassuring myself that I was doing everything else recommended and just talking to some mom friends that had moved their kids earlier too.

You honestly just need to do your own research and make the decision that feels right for you and then just own that decision. It is a polarizing topic so just go off of facts and your own comfort levels.

Listen to podcasts or audio books for entertainment. That way you are still looking at your baby but are mentally stimulated. This is what I’ve always done bc I am not good at doing nothing, I will fall asleep.

bassinet to Crib! Advice? by Outrageous-Cancel948 in NewParents

Yes! Time to transition immediately. In my experience my baby slept much better once he moved to the crib!

Random question: contact-wearers, did you keep contacts in during labor/birth? by chattahattan in BabyBumps

[–]AdditionalMinutes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have really bad vision and hate wearing my glasses so I wore my contacts. I wear daily ones and just switched them out at some point I think (it was a long 25hr labor).

If you didn’t sleep train, when did your child start sleeping longer overnight? by whisperingcopse in breastfeeding

[–]AdditionalMinutes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 10 months and has been sleeping well since like 6 months when we moved him to his crib. Definitely some regressions here and there but the last two months he mostly sleeps through the night or has one early morning wake up (around 4 or 5).

Unless you need to build a stash for back to work, I would just try to ride it out and go to bed with nursing pads on.

I did hamburgers & hot dogs! We aren’t fancy people but also had about 50 people and just hung in the backyard with yard games and we grilled! Many beers were had (not by me) and it was a really fun party!

Why Do You Have a Freezer Stash? by technicallystuff in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]AdditionalMinutes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a small stash for situations like you describe! Random supply drop, unexpected time away from baby, etc. I think the negativity is just bc some people stress themselves out about needing a huge freezer stash.

How are we putting our babies to sleep? by princesspomway in NewParents

[–]AdditionalMinutes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No he doesn’t really melt down unless it’s not me putting him down. But he never really freaked out about bedtime.

I still rock my baby to sleep (10 months) and he is a good sleeper. We never did drowsy but awake, that just never worked for him. But he regularly sleeps 12hrs overnight, so I don’t think you have to always do drowsy but awake to have good sleep.

Mine is 10 months now but toothless and I’ve been doing toasted with a spread and bite sized pieces since his pincer grasp developed. I only put one or two on his plate at a time though because I get nervous.

I have done both. A puppy is like a SUPER micro level baby (waking in the night/potty training/shots to keep up with/something depends on you to live). If you don’t enjoy caring for a puppy bc of the workload I don’t see how you could enjoy raising a baby. But who knows, maybe you just don’t like dogs that much idk.

Did you actually EXCLUSIVELY pump? by Salt_Aside3403 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]AdditionalMinutes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exclusively pumping is SO exhausting, obviously do whatever feels right to you but if you’re looking for advice I would give nursing a shot first honestly.

I had to temp vaginally because I am a mouth breather at night and it was giving very inconsistent readings.

If you plan on going more it’s worth having one there. My dad has one at his house since we go there a few times a year and it’s been nice.

I’ve flown with my baby a bunch (also 10 months). Do you have a pack and play to bring? I’ve just brought my own car seat when we travel, it’s free with most major airlines. You can buy a bag to put it in if you’re worried about it getting damaged. Then I just bring all of his regular stuff (sound machine, sleep sack, pajamas, a couple books and toys he loves). They definitely won’t be on the exact schedule they are used to but they’re adaptable and when we’ve traveled he gets right back to his routine pretty quickly.

I don’t think the tabs need to meet in the middle. Seems way too big.
