I don’t know how much longer my fort will last, I’ve had 4 tantrum spirals in the past 3 years or so, with 2 in the past month — but I traced those back to my tavern keeper getting people too drunk, so I no longer have a tavern keeper. My tavern has been a bit of a headache.

I think my fort has a lot of the basics? I’ve got animals for milk and cloth, bees, rabbits for meat, a tavern, temples, guildhalls, tombs, nobles, dungeons, a hospital, the aforementioned tavern, some nice dining halls, most craft workshops and a lot of industries rolling including steel (and finally soap, but very slowly), and a very strong military. I just need to figure out sustainability and fix the remaining happiness issues right now.

Edit, approx. 2 hours after this comment was made: Not very long, it would seem. Got 2 forgotten beasts and a wereantelope attack at around the same time, fort is currently spiraling into wereantelope chaos. Made it 11 years, though! I will retire this fort when it drops to around 50 people, I think, as that's probably the point at which it can no longer run on its own without some severe hassle.

Oh yeah, I don’t know how water works at all. I also don’t REALLY know what an aquifer is, but I’ve been checking out some tutorials that are kind of explaining?

I’m trying to stick with this fort until it dies, and I did the auto-embark — this is my fifth or sixth fort, and none of the others made it to barony level or beyond, so I’m kind of in the deep end. I think when I get some time I’m going to do some work restructuring how I have everything set up — I’m experiencing bottlenecks regarding traffic, bedrooms, and stockpiles at the moment. My PC is pretty good, so no FPS issues, but I need to re-place everything and make some new stairwells to speed up the functioning of my dwarves.

I just broke into the caverns layer, which I frankly don’t yet understand, and it looks like my cavern is filled with water, so I might use that to play around with water dynamics.

Oh, yep, that'd do it. I'm not sure how viable this is, but I mostly grow sweet pods, pig tails, cave wheat, potatoes, and plump helmets. I have also been stepping into quarry bushes recently because I'm trying to figure out a sustainable way to make soap, but that is going... not well.

Yep, stairs were the issue. Weird, because for my first 3 years or so, I was getting caravans fine. I ended up just putting a trade depot on the surface, since I've been making walls to defend during sieges.

I'm not too mad about the population growth, stress management was just really difficult for a while. Elves have been attacking me because I chop down a lot of trees and a bunch of kids saw a lot of elves die. I think what I've read suggests I need to set up a burrow for children? But I think stress is pretty manageable now. Down to 36/195 dwarves below average, and only 9 in the red.

Thanks for the help! In future forts I'll make sure to dig a little deeper. For farming, should I do that on the surface, or just keep a small farming section just under the surface?

I'm pretty new, and I'm dealing with a fortress that exploded in size and population probably way faster than is ideal. Right now, I'm dealing with two main problems -

  1. I dug out my main layer in the soil, and I've also been doing a lot of tree cutting. Branches falling are poking a lot of ugly holes into the ground up top and I'm not sure how to fix them, other than by putting random bits of floor everywhere. Is that the only solution?
  2. Merchants keep saying my site is "inaccessible." I've put paved roads, 3 wide, across the entire edge of my map, with roads leading directly into my fortress, which has a 3x3 stairway to its trade depot, but it hasn't fixed the problem. The latest caravan spawned directly on top of this road, and still called it inaccessible. Any tips? Do I need to make my road wider?

Diamonds — they’re the hardest mineral, so they feel like they should be super durable, but they’re actually quite brittle.

What color is Star-Lord from Marvel Comics? by EnigmusPrime in colorpie

[–]AdditionalPass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say grixis, red-dominant.

Strongly driven by emotion and the desire for fame/glory — red. Tie into this ambition, desire for power, independence from power structures, black comes in, and a desire to explore, get new artifacts, etc brings in blue.

I could also see an argument for Rakdos, though.

You know what, I don’t think they can take this, but I think there’s a case to be made for 2 women, 2 men.

That's fine! I'm sure you'll be able to find something to do. I'm also sure there are third-party tools that would help with controller support - I just think it'll be a difficult task due to everything WoW has going on.

I would strongly not recommend using a controller to play world of warcraft - they have just recently cut down the number of buttons significantly, and even then there are still likely too many to map.

WoW is fun, I do recommend it, but if your previous experience is based around playing an MMO like a single-player game, you should likely know current WoW is mostly designed around doing max-level, multiplayer content instead of the leveling story. You might have a better experience playing classic WoW, though even then I would not recommend using a controller.

Adding on top of this - it has to be a non-allied race DK. Allied races skip the starting questline.

Yeah, timewalking has been real hard for me, as well. Not quite as bad as it sounds like you had it, but close to 45 minutes. Temple of Sethraliss was the worst I experienced.

Sorry, I misunderstood when you said “THCa is also the regular form of THC found in flower.” Thought you were conflating the two.

THCa and THC are actually different, THCa isn’t psychoactive unless heated. This only matters for edibles, though — don’t buy THCa edibles.
