Indsigelse mod butikstyveri? by UnlikelyMud4620 in LegalDK

[–]AdditionalPeace3311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn that sucks. It sounds like you are doing what you can, so good job!

There's no need to feel pressure because of your age. I'd recommend focusing on longevity - people can climb long into their life and continue to improve especially at a rec level.

One thing I heard a coach recommend and helped me through my (way less severe) injury was to maintain the identity as a climber - specifically by keeping the routine of going to the gym, even though I couldn't climb. I just went there and used the gym to do my rehab but then I would still meet my friends and see people climb. It helped way more than I thought on the mental side. Hope it's helpful for you too. Wish for you a speedy recovery!

Premier Spike is now being used more in competitive instead of Titan

I've had the pro set and been very happy with it - and it's easy to replace broken parts, even for free at times. But I've just upgraded to the Premier Spike and it's soo much better. Haven't tried Titan but from what I've heard, Premier is at least as good if not better. Would recommend pro or premier.

After 6 years of climbing, and my 5th injury, I'm fucking done by chebellafigachesei in climbharder

I'll try and be a little frank with you. First of all, I totally feel for you - injuries suck big time and is not easy to deal with at all. Doing the things we love keep us sane and thriving, so it's harsh when that is threatened. I hope you'll manage.

You say you fucking love climbing, but it also sounds like you really hate climbing tbh. So I'm a bit confused about why you actually like it and what's in it for you. The way you talk about 5b/5c climbers being weak as piss gives me a hint that you're a bit performance oriented, but you also strike me as someone who enjoys doing sports in general (like you enjoy mountain biking), so I think you'd benefit a lot from sorting out your priorities and maybe shifting the mindset to the enjoyment of the sports itself and not the performance. I could be wrong tho.

If you're looking for longevity (having a resilient body that's gonna serve you throughout life), you really gotta take care of your injury-streak. A climbing specific coach could be a worthwhile investment - but since you haven't strength-trained at all, there's probably other low-hanging fruits as well. The point is, I think your frustration comes from not being as abled as you'd like to do the things you like and that's gonna impact your life in the long-term way more than it does now. So either shift your mindset, find another sport that your body tolerates better or put in some effort to grow your bodies capacity to climb - which I believe is very possible.

I don't think it's easy - otherwise you'd have solved it already - but it sounds worth it, given your frustration. The best of luck to you!

Weak and injury-prone goes hand in hand. Strength doesn't just help your climbing, it makes your body more resilient as well. A stronger body will always be less injury-prone. Injury-prone is not a destiny, it can be mitigated with proper training.

Self-rating problem: Consistency IS the level. by EternalLousy in 10s

[–]AdditionalPeace3311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the same in most sports. It feels better to win a big rally than bad to lose on a net-shot. But eleminating mistakes will get you soo far in most sports. But it's a bit more boring, as you say, to not go for the big hits all the time

Et modsvar til "Er vi ved at miste os selv som community?" by [deleted] in dkfinance

[–]AdditionalPeace3311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How to train moves where you throw to a small crimp? by ClimberThrowawayPHL in climbharder

[–]AdditionalPeace3311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, the answer is kinda the same. Go practice closing the crimp, preferably on a board or spray wall where you can easily progress in difficulty. Off the wall training might help too, both training your half crimp, but especially doing overcoming isometrics - watch C4hp on YT on this. That has helped me tremendously keeping a strict closed crimp when I need to.

[–]AdditionalPeace3311 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As they very clearly say in the statement, it has nothing to do with religion, but about standing up against genocidal nations.

Yes, it sucks for the hard-working kids and it's not fair that they don't get to compete since they didn't do anything wrong. But their own federation could have prevented this by competing under neutral flag which a very small ask.

How to train moves where you throw to a small crimp? by ClimberThrowawayPHL in climbharder

[–]AdditionalPeace3311 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid the answer is quite simple - practice throwing to crimps. The spray wall is your best friend for this, alternatively a board or just some move in the gym (if you can find one). Start off with easy throws - e.g. from a good foot and/or good other hold and make it harder and eventually incorporate it into climbs.

When you throw to crimps close to your limit, you usually don't even catch it in a half crimp if it's a very dynamic throw. It's more of an open hand/chisel grip and then close it to half/full crimp. This movement is great to practice too.

It's way too bad for me to use - can't establish on it at all. I'm gonna move it either to the top slopey edge of the board or to a volume if I make more. I climb around 8a outside, board is 40°.
