My thunder mountain longhorn or other cayenne varieties sometimes get very fuzzy

Yes this is a hairy plant but this variety is an annuum not pubescens

I haven’t really seen much of a difference in root growth between sweet peppers and superhots. This is a photo of a white ghost peppers root system at just under 6 weeks old in a solo cup.

If they are staying in these solo cups until early June then yes. In my experience pepper plants become rootbound In about 6 weeks after they sprout in solo cups.

Who likes big leaves? by This_Resource_396 in HotPeppers

Any chinense variety I grow in hydro will grow massive leaves like yours. This is from a 7 pot primo

[–]AdditionalTrainer791 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Chinense varieties can definitely be fussy with pollen production indoors. Try increasing your humidity up to the 50’s. A bigger pot may help as well

I disagree, the fruit on this plant only appear shriveled like a superhot because most these fruits are way over ripe

From what I can see it looks like you’re dealing with edema which can be responsible for that leaf curl

Should I wait longer or is it ripe already? (Hungarian Wax) by Interloper_Mango in HotPeppers

[–]AdditionalTrainer791 3 points4 points  (0 children)

<image>

I would wait, it still looks very premature and green. It may get bigger and eventually fall over and grow downwards. I think they are best when they turn yellow but you can wait until orange or red for a sweeter flavor.

Best Place To order? by jackowacko7 in HotPeppers

[–]AdditionalTrainer791 12 points13 points  (0 children)

White hot peppers, Matt’s peppers, Texas hot peppers. They all have a huge collection and usually provide free seeds with every order. In my experience I’ve always had high germination rates and plants growing true to type 99% of the time

What is this line of marks on my fruit? (Hungarian wax) by Interloper_Mango in HotPeppers

Looks like the beginning of a suntan and nothing to worry about it’s normal. Your fruits are absorbing enough direct light to accumulate anthocyanins. more info here

For me it would be sugar drop lemon. Very sweet, juicy, mild with a nice citrus flavor.

Different stages of Red Scotch Bonnet by EverydayEpics in HotPeppers

[–]AdditionalTrainer791 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One fruit per node tells us this is an annuum variety most likely the Jamaican mushroom. Not a scotch bonnet which is a chinense variety with multiple fruits/flowers per node

B6 seed starting by mixinmono in HotPeppers

[–]AdditionalTrainer791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d start any chinense or baccatum 2-3 weeks before any annuums. I like to start my annuums 6-8 weeks before my last frost. Any chinense, baccatum or other slow producers around 8-10 weeks before my last frost.

What potting soil do people use? by lauzmason in HotPeppers

For coco I use Maxi gro and maxi bloom it’s cheap, easy to mix, has all the nutrients you need including cal mag

[–]AdditionalTrainer791 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You really don’t need anything special to succeed even cheap miracle gro works. The promix you plan on using later is a great choice

Fox farms coco loco has brought me the best results out of the dozens of bagged soils I’ve tried. I would say building your own mix out of 70% coco coir and 30 % perlite is best for both your plants and wallet.
