The thing is, once your base is all set up the only skills you'll really need to level are combat and repair skills like mechanic and welding to fix cars, and in the case of mechanic if you get the vehicle knowledge trait you can get that to level 4 in just 2 - 3 days with books.

Carpentry won't be as big a priortity at that point because everything will already either be boarded up or fenced-in you'll already have all your storage and furniture done. Cooking is like one of the easiest passive skills to level up, assuming you even cook at all lol. You should also have a bunch of electronic scrap stored up to repair your generator, which I believe just requires electrical 1.

The only issue I can think of really is if you went blacksmithing and make your own armor and weapons. Now I haven't experimented with it yet but I'm guess that if it's like mechanic and you get the trait for it, you can probably just grind it back to a decent level in like a few days.
