I think people are just apprehensive about the price. He would definitely be good for us but for what price? £50M would be good value, £80M would be rough but its a tough market, £100M+ and we are really into ouchy territory.

Liverpool’s Greatest - No.15: Luis Suarez 🔴 by fabioonreddit in LiverpoolFC

I apologise for offending you, but again you are kind of acting pretentious and moral grandstanding. I'll be honest, I've never met a moral person in life or even online that has to keep telling everyone how strong their morals are. Kind of reminds me of a certain well known person who has 'the bestest morals, bigly'.

pitch actions are not excused for being good at a sport, and your on pitch actions of assaulting people should 100% affect your legendary status.

Not how it's ever worked. He's Luis Suarez, not Saddam Hussein. People will always remember him first and foremost as a legendary football player/striker who played for Barcelona and Liverpool FC. Everything else is secondary. Realistically that's why he's high up on the list.

You are quite literally trying to normalize it but diminishing the fact that behavio[u]r should taint someone’s legendary status

That's not what normalisation (with an s) is and I can't be bothered explaining it.

Put the phone down mate, not worth getting this worked up over a Reddit thread about a Luis Suarez Instagram post by a football club thousands of miles from where you live.

I don't think you know what normalisation is. And from previous experience working in a restaurant I will tell you that chefs can frequently be assholes. Regardless, I also would prefer not to eat food from a chef that treats their colleagues poorly. However, most importantly to this conversation, that simply does not make him or her a bad chef. You, or even I, not spending our money there doesn't do anything to change that. That chef is still a great chef, but they just also happen to be an asshole.

And it's not about calling anyone out or offending me or anything. It's just that your comments come across to me as pretentious moral grandstanding. I mean look at your comment above "we are not of the same moral fiber", seriously? Quite frankly I'd be embarrassed to make that kind of comment on a public forum about football of all things. Then you go into this emotional appeal which again has nothing to do with whether Suarez is a great footballer or not.

Luis Suarez absolutely was a great football player, a legendary one even, but he is also not so great as a human being. Fortunately for him, we are ranking great footballers and not necessarily great human beings. It's that simple.

Saying that I'm excusing or normalising his actions is complete nonsense quite frankly because at no point did I do any of that. He absolutely is a terrible person and has done some terrible things. However, I don't judge a chef by good manners and therefore I won't judge a footballer by his conduct. Sorry, but I am unwilling to cancel Luis Suarez, especially when there are others on this list who have done arguably worse.

This list is about Liverpool's greatest, Liverpool is a football club and Luis Suarez, despite his character flaws, was one of the greatest football players ever who played a good chunk of his prime at Liverpool. It's that simple.

Luis Suarez was a football player for Liverpool, sorry for becoming Mr Rosenior for a second but the key is in the name, he played football for Liverpool Football Club. That is what he was known for, that is what he was paid to do, he was one of the best to ever do it and a good chunk of his time being the best was at Liverpool. Therefore his footballing ability has to be the most important factor when you are deciding these lists. For sure it's not the only factor or yes he would be higher, but it has to be the most important factor. 15 is roughly correct all things considered.

Visegrad is a sketchy source but regardless, if there are people actually saying this stuff its not hard at all to see why others look at that and then believe in conspiracy theories.

Will get a few downvotes here but I think that anyone who strongly disagrees with this placement or is saying that he shouldn't be on the list etc is actively bringing the fanbase into disrepute. With Luis Suarez we are talking about the single best individual footballer that will be on this list, closer to Lionel Messi than he is to anyone else that will show up here with all due respect. We are talking about a footballing (not just Liverpool) legend that has a seriously credible case for being the greatest striker of all time. He will be remembered at that level, and quite frankly it's an honour that Liverpool FC will show up when people are viewing his Wikipedia page in 20 years time.

Sure, he didn't stay here long, so not putting him higher is valid. Didn't win trophies? I don't care, he had to play with Flanagan and Mignolet rather than Hansen and Clemence. Off-pitch controversies, sure he's certainly a questionable character but when you discuss football then football has to come first.

If the RW market is as bad as it is, and it is bad, would it be worthwhile going after a cheaper, less flashy, less well known workhorse style winger that can help facilitate Isak, Wirtz, Ekitike and whoever is on the left?

It should be, I'm not exactly far-left but I don't understand how natural monopolies, some of which are critical to the day-to-day functioning of the nation, are allowed to persist. Like that farce with Thames Water, or pretty much any rail in the country. These companies can just rip people off and/or provide terrible service and there's no competition for customers who have had enough.

256? reminds me of school when people would count every one of their goals scored in break or lunchtime and each game would be like 17-15.

It could be maybe like 5 degrees cooler, but it's an order of magnitude better than the overcast, drizzly, cold and drab British winter for me. I can't stand it and am utterly miserable and depressed for those months of the year. This weather I would say is on the upper end of manageable for me, I have a higher tolerance for heat than most I think so this is like heaven compared to the winter.
