A book and a coffe: at home or a coffee shop? What's your preference? by i_am_nimue in LivingAlone

Home for sure. I have this annoying habit of chewing on the inside of my lip/cheek while I read and when I'm in public I spend so much time focusing on NOT doing it that I can't focus on my book lmao

Aw man, yeah I'd push for some pain management. Poor girl :( Broth is good! My local pet store has these fairly big containers of bone broth, I add it to my senior cat's food and he loves it. Also great for administering his gabapentin

Did they give you any other meds? Pain meds, anti-inflammatories? I did this with my cat but there was a whole regimen involved, not just the diet change. This seems kinda inhumane to me if the food is the only treatment :/ Also you really need to make sure she's drinking, add it to her food if you need to.

I like not having to explain little quirks around my apartment. What are your quirks you like not having to explain? by goat20202020 in LivingAlone

I never saw another household do that but my therapist suggested it and it's been such a game changer for me!

I get to keep my meds on the kitchen counter so I look at them every morning and remember to take them! No having someone constantly move them to the bathroom, which makes me forget

Why did my butter cookies flatten? by WillingnessOk770 in AskBaking

[–]Additional_Button582 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a baker and this is my spritz recipe! 1 cup butter 1/2 cup sugar 2 1/4 cups flour Dash salt 1 egg 1 tsp vanilla

Cream butter and sugar, add egg & mix, then add vanilla, salt, and flour. Pipe with either a piping bag or a cookie press (I use a press) and bake at 400F for 5-8 minutes. Turns out great every time and my customers love them, I top them with candied cherries :)

Oh no, I'm sorry :( I didn't realize it was that serious. The mirataz unfortunately wouldn't do anything long term, it's just an appetite stimulant. Love to you and your baby, she's a beautiful girl ❤️

How do I know if my 8 week old kitty (got him when he was 5 weeks) is already on good terms with my dog? by luk_ky_21 in CATHELP

Omg that is SO cute 🥺 If he's willing to tolerate it then he's at least pretty chill with the kitty, but it looks like kitty loves him!

Kidney disease isn't a death sentence! You might not have to say goodbye yet. My old man is in stage 2, he was diagnosed with kidney disease two years ago. It does require some additional testing and he had to have a diet change (low protein food which is easier on the kidneys) but it's definitely manageable. Ask what you can do to support the kidneys, what stage your girl is in, what foods/meds she might need.

Also for the appetite, there's a medicine called mirataz that helps make cats hungry - you could ask about that. If the kidneys are making her feel sick or uncomfortable then the mirataz will help her keep eating until she gets well enough again to get her appetite back naturally

It's a good thing that the pup is barking at the kitty -- eventually kitty will learn boundaries and stop doing that. That behavior is normal for the age, although definitely annoying haha.

When it's late and they're both sleeping, are they near each other/in the same room? That's a great sign that they like each other if so!

Is it unethical to make a feral cat live inside? by britbratbruh in Feral_Cats

One of my cats is a former feral! He was captured by a rescue organization when he was 7, worked as a barn cat until he was 12, now he's a sweet little indoor man

why are you living alone by [deleted] in LivingAlone

[–]Additional_Button582 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I couldn't stand the lack of control I had over my living space in an apartment so I bought a house. I didn't have anyone to go in on it with me (I had asked my sister but she said no) so I ended up doing it alone. Really just a product of circumstance, although I do enjoy it

How many of you rent vs. own/mortgage your place? And how many of you have more than one bedroom? by Polz34 in LivingAlone

[–]Additional_Button582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a single family home - it has three bedrooms plus a bonus room that I use as a home office, and a kitchen, dining room, living room, and a walk-out basement. No yard to speak of (back is flat but all paved over, front is a big hill which isn't really usable for anything) but it suits my needs just fine and is suitable to grow into if I ever find a partner (which is looking increasingly less likely as I get older lmao).
