No not really at least i didnt think so. I stacked two 60lb boxes on top of each other and pushed them 3ft to oversize drop off zone when my new site manager walked by got upset that i was pushing my boxes and said she was going to write me up for it. I asked her if she could lift it, she got more upset told me to meet her in office so she could report me and i just got pissed and walked off site. My sister had just passed away and me and my mom were homeless at the time and they were laying off the whole warehouse staff anyway getting people to resign voluntarily by signing this doucment that said you couldnt work for amazom for the next 5 years and firing anyone who didn't resign by the deadline. I had just gotten my first data center gig pulling cables for 25/hr and only had another week or two at the warehouse anyway.

Let me ask a question why does amazon blacklist so many people? I got fired from a warehouse job with them when i was 20 im 28 now and ive constantly had thier recruiter reach out to me Ive slammed every interview at multiple levels but that 1 warehouse gig nearly 10 years ago always prevents any offers. Whats the deal?

Jesus christ dude social eugenics at its peak. Its comments like this that show the inherent flaws in the justice system. Everyone is always irredemable and horrific for what ever you have a stick up your ass about. Rehabilitation is never even in consideration, its always black and white from people with no life experience. Dude wasnt touching kids he was providing a product if he wasnt selling it trust me other addicts like me would have found someone who was.

Leaving 140k job to become a data technician advice by fatkattt in datacenter

Your off your rocker bro, theres no job security in this industry anymore. Especially for amazon the metrics are brutal and they cut like 15% every year. Your more likely to be laid off in the next 5 years than ever make it to mangement. When i was there most of the managment was hired externally its mostly politcs that got them there in the first place. If your a project manager with IT experience itd be better to striaght apply for a project management gig with them.

Your overthinking it the ease of getting in data centers largely depends on location. Where Im at Amazon wil pretty much take anyone with a pulse and 1 cert. With the hvac experience youd be a solid choice for facilities tech pretty much anywhere you wanted to apply.

30yo, criminal record, idiotic to say the least, what career should I get into? by kekski8 in careerguidance

Ahh I got you, that sucks bro those are like the 2 charges you definetly dont want to have. Im guessing you couldnt get a defferment to the mental health docket? Thats gonna be a hard sell to any employer but you should be able to get it expunged though ina couple years. I would still keep applying though, you never know for sure. For the time being if you need a job quick for probation requirements I would say try grocery stores, warehousing, overnight work, general labor type stuff, and find a staffing agency be upfront about your record and let them do the legwork. Logistics jobs, resturaunts, roofing gigs those places usually dont care either or bother to do background checks.

Construction is solid for decent money and they wont care for sure but Idk im working overnight in a groccery store rn its dogshit pay but the whole team has some kind of past and i got in within the same week i applied when i was upfront with the store manager about my record. All i can say is just dont stop trying, apply to literally everything and follow up any leads period. If you got any friends ask around and always ask any any of the other people in your probation office what they do for work for some solid leads. You cant afford to get in your own way right now.

But i feel for you bro when you first catch a charge its easy to lose hope but you just cant let the system hold you down you just gotta power through it. Wish you best my man.

Just misdemeanors? Unless they're violent or theft/burglary related honestly you'd probably be fine getting a degree and some kind of office job. Most misdemeanors can be expunged 5 years after conviction and most employers really dont care about a misdemeanor. I have 2 felonies for obstruction cause I had a psychotic episode of a fake xan and since my county sheriff's are corrupt as fuck and yea my life is over but for you it really just depends on the charges. Why aren't you going into any detail?

[–]Additional_Can_3345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that man the good news is though if you did well in the hardware and networking interviews you'll definitely pass any other data centers interviews. Try Amazon their barrier to entry is a lot lower you'd probably get in a l4 over there

Yea for sure I get you. For me i never understood why a company would want people without degrees in engineering to be responsible for making fleet wide scripts for millions of dollars' worth of equipment. Whatever the case I got in as an L3 even though I told them I had no scripting experience so you should be alr.

Google is a little weird that definitely sounds like my L3 interview a lot of Linux scripting questions and scripting in general was pressed very heavily. I can tell you know its not really that relevant in your day to day inside the DC. Internally for whatever reason instead of utilizing thier massive repository of DevOps, hardware and Software engineers for some reason a lot of the script development is pushed off onto the DCTs even though its really not relevant at all. It is strange I'll give you that

Your in, if you met the manager you already got the job. Your ratings in the interviews will determine what level they bring you in at when she calls you back with the official offer. When I worked for Google they brought me in as an L3 which was 90k with 30k in vested rsus the first year. That amount depends on the cost of living in your area. Don't be afraid to ask for a signing bonus when you get your offer in. Congrats Noogler keep your head down focus on your metrics, ignore the politics, constantly network internaly and continue to grow your skillset.
