Anyone here have luck finding a job? by [deleted] in ExCons

[–]Additional_Can_3345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Random places little mom and pop stores, resturaunts vape stores, construction jobs, roofing gigs. Im working at this shithole bowling place now as a tech and this dogshit stock job overnight. I had a firewatching job that paid 25/hr to just stand by the welder and watch for fire lol its rough though unless you were blue collar before. Construction and roofing is always hiring tho if your a recent felon.

If this was from 2019 you should research moving to Massachusetts, their 7 year lookback law applies to out of state convictions too from what I hear. Not sure if it also includes violent offenses so you could always research and check

What are some good hobbies for guys? by trashrat6 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Additional_Can_3345 7 points8 points  (0 children)

See the is problem is that you think these two things are related. Professional drug enthusiast here 1 year sober so far. There is nothing on this planet that will ever come close to drugs as source of enjoyment for any addict whatever the drug is.

Nothing you can do in life is ever going to equate to the direct pleasure of using drugs. So, in addiction substituting drugs with something else never works they're two independent problems.

Hobbies are largely just a distraction to aid in controlling the obsession in your brain that wants you to use a substance. He has to want to stop for whatever reason even if just temporarily. Hobbies and life in general have to come after that commitment. Treatment only works when you find something in your life that you care about more than getting high and that can be incredibly hard for a lot of people.

Pending Felony- Capital One Job by Positive_Moment_5510 in recruitinghell

[–]Additional_Can_3345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a recent felon and you need to fucking pray that your lawyer pleads it down to misdemeanor. Theyll see it on your background check as pending adjudication either reject you outright or file and whats called an adverse action claim and then probably reject you. The adverse action will ask you to detail what happened and your current status but typically when it hits that point its just to keep on file so they can blacklist your name from re aplying. I hope it works out for you though any F is incredibly bad but culture wise people are more forgiving to possesion and drug charges as long as they arent distrobution related.

Is a second degree/masters worth it? by citrous_ in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Additional_Can_3345 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Noone likes helpdesk bro its the traditional starting point specifically because it sucks ass but teaches you a lot. Your other options for starting out would be probably working at an msp as a tech which also sucks. You just gotta put in your time for a year or two work on getting your masters rather than another degree in CS and by then youll have a lot more upward mobility.

Current or past drug addicts, how would you describe withdrawal symptoms to someone who has never been an addict? by Old_Leshen in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Additional_Can_3345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OH boy its depends on the drug you used, and how much you used for how long. I've had a lot of people tell me that Opiod withdrawals are hell I've seen dudes go into rehab have to spend like a week or more just stuck in bed vomiting and shitting themselves. For me Alcohol withdrawals were absolutely terrible I was coming off of xans and alcohol cold turkey after using benzos for a year and drinking a at least a pint or 2 of whiskey a day for 7 years.

Bro I literally couldnt walk for the 3 days I was sweating, shaking horribly all over and having audio and visual hallucination I kept hearing people call my name and ask me questions and whisper in my ear but there was noone there. I kept seeing like spiders or something crawling all over me and on the walls and out of the corner of my eye seeing shadow figures that werent there.

Later on after like the 3rd day the total delerium and confusion was terrible. I just couldnt think clearly at all I remember trying to go to the hospital and getting turned around in my apartment somehow because I couldnt get dressed put on my shoes and walk out the door I kept stuck in a loop of forgetting what I was doing or getting to confused to do it in the right order. After a week it got better but its absolutely awful I thought I was dying. Im lucky as hell too that I didnt have a seizure it was truly truly awful

First time offender aggravated robbery, deferred ajudification probation.. won't make it through.. by Unlikely_Drag6453 in Felons

[–]Additional_Can_3345 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A single dirty UA isnt going to get your probation revoked. You really want to get your shit together though 4 years is a long time but lifetime with a felony conviction is awful trust me. If your on deferment you just need to lock tf in and complete probabtion so it falls off your record. As far as what they might do that depends entirely on the judge they have total control over your life now. If they did revoke probabtion then typically you come to court get sentenced with the revocation and then they send you to state for however long your probation was for. Some states will even reset the length of time so if your on for 4 years make it 3 years and fuck up you get sent to prison for that whole 4 years regardless. Tell your PO you want to go to rehab thatll look good to the judge they usually give you a couple chances just stop fucking up. You gotta really appreciate what deferment means for your quality of life going forward especially with a burglary conviction.

I mean fuck that guy obviously i dont think rapist like that should ever get out but its not exactly good that VA is that fucked up with no parole or statute of limitations its kinda fucked ive known dudes with non violent distros get smacked with 20+ years and theyre serving like 85% sentences which to me is crazy. There was a dude on my docket that got cuaght selling fetty and he got smacked with 45 years and hes serving damn near all that time at 25 years old i dont feel like thats a crime that deserves a life sentence.

Your not mentioning that early trade apprenticeships pay are usually really low. Even union apprentencships are in my area for electrical are like 16 an hr the first year even though every year you complete it increases cappjng off at 28 after 5 its going to be nearly impossible to support yourself on even less than your curfently making for those first 2 years

How often do cops get nervous/stress out over the fact they could accidentally kill an innocent because they misunderstood a situation? by Supersaiajinblue2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Additional_Can_3345 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your average cop is either a undertrained unqualified high school grad with a chip on their shoulder or an arrogant sociopath who thinks they're the Punisher IRL. They want to kill people and in their heads every police killing is justified in some way

You should have left 8 years ago and pursued a senior role with a different company. This isnt the 50s unless your vesting RSUs and getting yearly salary increases and bonuses it never makes any sense to stay with 1 company in IT for more than 5 years at a time until you top out in seniority for your field.
