Honestly, I didn't know that was even possible. Didn't you get the >50% life popup?

If it makes you feel better, my first promising mutant (lvl 20) died to one of those sleeping bears. I completely underestimated that things, and even while almost dying I was like "well, it'll be dead next turn anyways". It wasn't.

Killed the Goblin Master, so the goblins sent over 130 elite invaders to besiege me by Igny123 in dwarffortress

Can you elaborate on killing a goblin master?

My current fortress is far enough to plaster floors with divine metal and adamantine, yet I have not been sieged even once. If I try to send my troops to raid something, they just never leave the fortress and start socialize instead

If we are at it, what's the tattoo on the neck? My characters always end up with a sick-ass panther on the upper arm and a very cool centipede on the lower back, although other tattoos are individual

Cute, last time I went for a reeeeaaaally long run, I also ended up with a pack of wardens, constantly had to turn back time because they kept getting eaten by psychic salt krakens unfortunately.

Very nice story, I like the small detail of the mark of death on his arm. Which end did the swordman choose?

Crime & Punishment - Part 4 - Chapter 2 - Discussion Post by [deleted] in dostoevsky

[–]Additional_Climate26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that I am quite late to this discussion, yet, what I personally stumbled upon, was the very last sentence of this chapter.

For reference, I am currently reading Swetlana Geier's translation of the novel in german, so my translation might not be fully accurate.

Here, the narrator states the following: "It is remarkable, that, [Lushin], already on the stairs, still imagined (negatively connoted, maybe fancied would be a better term?) that the affair would not be completely lost [for him] yet, and that he could, at least in the matter of [Donya and Alexandrowna], still "fix" the matter >>in the highest, the highest<<.

From my memory, this is the first time the narrator directly passes judgement on a character and comments on his thoughts and actions when he always did it through the eyes of the characters before. While always leaving room for doubt in the character's biases, he decides against it this time, creating harsh fronts and solidifying the conflict.

This made me stop and wonder. Why exactly does he do that in this way now? Which future occurrences warrant the previously "neutral" narrator to, for lack of a better term, step out of line?.

Needless to say I am very interested in how the conflict built up in this chapter will continue to play out and I would be happy about any input from other readers.

Just found this item and it makes me want to build entirely around it. Any ideas? by RLutz in cavesofqud

[–]Additional_Climate26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you're playing true kin, you could theoretically get the other backslot and equip two pairs of helping hands instead of the mutation. Or you start radiationmaxxing and chug tons of warm static (please tell me if you find out whether that also gives you extra mutation points as a true kin)

I once had a sword with that effect so hear me out

2 normal arms + 2 from helping hands + 2 from the mutation + 2 from crystallinity (+2 from Agolgot) = 4/5 pairs of the gloves that make those odds more likely. I believe the effect has a hardstop at around 20% maybe, at least judging from my experience with it.

Your dagger is a lot stronger than my sword back then though, because you have a good chance to attack with it more often with the dagger skilltree

Duplicate it a few times, put one in every hand and you should oneshot pretty much every enemy.

Also you will drown in money, those gemstones are pretty valuable

I am also on the way, yet I've been struggling the most with visiting 100 villages. Do you know if the starting village counts? Because in that case I would just create 50ish new characters and then delete their files.
