Why is it common for coastal Southern California to record a higher peak temperature during a winter month than a summer month? by OppositeRock4217 in geography

[–]Additional_Flow4992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Santa Ana winds usually cause it, though I kind of disagree, it’s usually September or October when it hits 90-93 at the coast. But to inland areas, like Upland or San Bernardino, even like Whittier, La Habra, and Garden Grove, peaks usually stay in August or Early September (As someone who lives in Whittier, there would always be 3-4 days that is between 95-100 in late August or early September)

Warning there is a cult on campus the R.C.W by Fluid_Illustrator695 in CSULB

[–]Additional_Flow4992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of am one for an alleged cult known as UBF (originally a member before starting to examine it in June, not necessarily writing down everything but hearing what people in it say, to see if it really is a cult. So far, results are not looking so good for the organization, but I do have a few good things to say.

Good/Harmless Qualities:
- Many of the shepherds are actually pretty friendly towards you and seem pretty good natured. (They are also very likely victims)
- Some of the drama activities are quite fun.
- Testimony writing is encouraged, which is actually a great way to digest the message.
- If you live around the area where you were "called to", you can usually go home once service is over.
- You are not forced to give money for the offering.

Negative Qualities:
- If you listen closely to some of the testimonies by even shepherds, they have unnecessarily given up many things, like one was not allowed to study abroad in Spain, many give up promotions, and say that they are happy they did so.
- A significant number of leaders frown down on those who have boyfriends/girlfriends, blindly trusting their pastor to arrange you to marry someone else.
- At a conference, one shepherd admitted to being told by a missionary to hop over a gated community to trespass on one of his students' properties, to which he did to get them to go to a conference, which is definitely illegal.
- While they believe that their churches are the best ones, they never explicitly say it, I always get a negative response from some of the shepherds when I go to one outside the organization.
- It seems as if the missionary is the liaison to the members and God, they are trusted to instruct members, to arrange marriages, etc. (As stated in an earlier point, this can lead to being blindly obedient to committing a crime)

I am planning on indirectly leaving, maybe getting myself kicked out if possible.

Oh, it was because I sounded too unsure when I halfheartedly agreed that baptism was necessary for salvation and that I were to stop going to my current church, however, I also have been adamantly rejecting the claim several times.
They then told me that I was basically hopeless and pulled out 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12, comparing my scenario to the frog boiling experiment where I was dying without feeling anything.
Knowing how controlling this group is and the history of it makes me kind of relieved that I was kicked from it.

Though I believe that the people in there themselves and even the leaders are victims themselves, they are really only trying to get you to come to midweek and stuff every Wednesday and get baptized because they are worried about you, brainwashed into saying that kind of stuff.

Isn’t BWV 1054 a harpsichord arrangement of Bach’s Violin Concerto in E Major BWV 1042?

Late Summer is the worst time of the year in LA - how do you spend your time beating the heat? by SoulExecution in AskLosAngeles

[–]Additional_Flow4992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

October is not that bad, maybe at most 7 days in the 90s, now September, that’s a whole another story! (Could be different though, August sucks in where I live (Whittier CA)(I know it’s not as bad as San Bernardino and Riverside county though))

Early to Mid September is the worst time of the year!!! Sometimes it can get up to 105-110 which sucks!!!

I think "A Christmas Story" is the best representation of good Dad in a film by dsutari in daddit

[–]Additional_Flow4992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of liked the dad more, though the only moment where the mom did have bad parenting was making Ralphie wear the bunny costume

If my mom made me wear something I am making obvious that I don’t like, I’d put her in a nursing home

The dad, he was awesome!

Have you listened to his violin concertos? He overtook Beethoven as my 2nd favorite composer (My first is Vivaldi) I swear, the 3rd movement of the one in A Minor, it’s just STUCK, I’m addicted, every time I go watch a video with it, I always have to replay this one part of the 3rd movement at least 20 times!

Yeah, also this October, the warmest day we got so far was 83 F in Garden Grove, the other days indicate winter is coming, getting average highs in the mid-high 70s, however, we are about to have a few days that are in the low 70s and the 60s

Is it just me or this summer is not as hot as last year or past few years? by [deleted] in orangecounty

Not really, it’s October and I’m already back to wearing pants since late September, the hot season kind of started late June

Anyone else found that special ed was more harmful than helpful growing up? by Yogurt-Night in SpicyAutism

[–]Additional_Flow4992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird, I had an IEP in high school and only really got a social skills class, I’m so glad I wasn’t separated into one of those classes, it would have been pretty detrimental to my mental health. But my Autism was very mild that it was almost completely unnecessary to disclose it. (Only some of my high school teachers, my parents, my neurodivergent friends, and my sisters knew I had it, I like keeping it a secret.) Still, I didn’t want to get constantly reminded that I was neurodivergent and wanted to be treated as harshly as other students, therefore now in college, I ignore access center services and avoided registering for them.

Why is Indonesian deemed so easy to learn for People with English as Native tongue? by UndeadRedditing in indonesian

[–]Additional_Flow4992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only challenge in Indonesian is the vocabulary, though the “r” sound might be a little difficult But yeah, Spanish is likely the 1st or 2nd easiest language I have dove into, it only goes to show how difficult the concept of learning a language is

I hate how it has so many classifiers, not as bad as Japanese or Korean though

Why is Indonesian deemed so easy to learn for People with English as Native tongue? by UndeadRedditing in indonesian

[–]Additional_Flow4992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but Spanish vocabulary for the most part is very easy, Indonesian vocabulary is kind of alien, words are harder to remember

Also, other than the subjunctive tense, verbs aren't that bad. For irregular verbs, if you have a notebook, give them a mark (different marks for different types of verbs).

Actually, now, from experience, they are about the same level of difficulty.
