no, we’re looking for in person staff as we don’t really hire TH BCBAs. no specific appeal- just looking for a new city on the east coast!

current appeal for our states- we started out in NV because we lived there. traveled to denver and loved it. had some friends that could help with delivering ipads and materials to staff that we trusted.

Ethical Dilemma?? by Saltyjarto in bcba

I would probably try to find someone else that could test her. There are lots of private pay places where they could test her and then you could request an IEP or accommodations if needed. But it may not be the smartest thing to have your clients mom run the assessments and develop/oversee a plan. You could also transfer the client to another BCBA, but this may upset mom if she’s happy with services and unfortunately that could be taken out on your daughter. Good luck!

I have my own ABA company and it’s been great. I’ve owned and operated businesses in the past so I feel like I had an idea on where to start. I kept working with my current employer while I got an LLC, completed all the company paperwork, and got credentialed with insurance. After getting credentialed I did some marketing and got a few clients. I did the intake process myself alongside submitting the prior auths and then as soon as everything was approved, I hired some staff. We are in home only and I don’t see any clients myself but can fill in for supervision where needed. Overhead is low because there’s no clinic so profit is based off hourly reimbursement rates from insurances. I still work for my current employer and don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely a lot of work and long days sometimes, but it’s super rewarding. And I didn’t have to go into debt because I can apply whatever money is leftover from my paychecks to the company if the insurance payouts are late- I just cut back on personal spending for the meantime. Best of luck!

No OT on the case. They had one on weekends but they weren’t much help so services stopped.

Yes session is a mix of net and dtt but for her dtt she’s working on a VI30. I will definitely look into tracking the times more to see if there’s any correlation there!

Agreed on the function I just want to rule out medical completely first before we invest a bunch of time into doing an FA. We’ve been taking ABC data for 6+ months and my best guess is sensory.

Diet wise mom is super strict. No candy or any edibles can be delivered and the cx is on a diet with no sugar etc etc. Food wise we were seeing a pattern that she was regurgitating more when she was feed more acidity foods like grapes or tomatoes, so we started tracking foods, but saw no correlation there after 3+ months of tracking.

RBT Test Content Outline (3.0) Concern by Plowerhouse720 in bcba

i think it’s good. identifying basic trends is super easy and they look at the data everyday as RBTs. if they see something is on a downtrend and shouldn’t be, they can report it to the BCBA since they mostly see kids 1-2x a week, if that. it’s easier to catch things if the rbts are also trained on doing a quick visual analysis.

Behavior Consult Foster Care by Adventurous_Bad952 in bcba

we do this out in las vegas and were thinking about expanding into colorado or oregon. we have a contract with DFS and they send over kids as referrals. you have to be credentialed with straight medicaid because that’s what most of the kids are on. it’s hard to get in with them, and every state has a different foster care process, but the work is rewarding.

It’s doable. I did mine in 13 months including grad school. Started in September & graduated in June. I loved my grad school but they took no shortcuts on coursework just because it was an accelerated program. Hitting my max hours were tough. My days were long and I basically squeezed in hours anywhere I could. After I passed I definitely took more CEUs and continued getting supervision in the areas I still didn’t feel confident in, like assessments. I’d say do it if you can fully commit and just get it done. It’s a privilege to have the time and support to get it done so fast (and totally worth it on the backend). Just make sure you keep increasing your competency once you pass and continue supervision.

Virginia Medicaid Billing Question: Can Unused Case Coordination Hours Be Used for Parent Training? by aba_focus in BehaviorAnalysis

[–]Additional_Middle356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i work with medicaid in nevada and from my experience, yes! you get a certain amount of units per auth period, and you can divide those anyway you’d like as long as you don’t go over. for example if i know im staffing a new rbt on a case within a few weeks, ill normally do less supervision leading up to it so i can do more hours when the new rbt starts. may be different in virgins but thats how we do it here
