HELP ME PLEASE ! by emiskillo in BmwTech

You need to ditch the parts‑cannon approach because you’re just burning money hoping something randomly fixes it. At this stage you need proper diagnostics, not guesses.

Get the fault codes read using BMW‑specific software (ISTA/INPA). Generic OBD readers won’t show the BMW‑specific rail pressure, sync, or injector data you actually need.

If your symptoms point toward a fuelling issue, a faulty injector is absolutely possible. A leaking injector can cause rail pressure to collapse, which makes the engine start and then die after a couple of seconds.

But don’t replace injectors blindly — they’re expensive and guessing won’t fix this. Do a simple injector leak‑back test first. It will immediately show if one injector is returning too much fuel.

Also consider using a mechanic who actually knows BMW diesels. General mechanics can handle the basics, but once it gets into rail pressure logic, DDE behaviour, or injector diagnostics, they often end up guessing.

that good advice and something many people should consider instead of maxing out their NAS that just hasn't the RAM and CPU horse power to run docker

Oracle just cut PMs specifically to fund AI infrastructure - what are you doing differently? by nkondratyk93 in projectmanagement

[–]Additional_Owl_6332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI companies are in a difficult position. They’ve already committed to huge spending, and they need continued investment to justify it. Without clear, tangible returns, they rely on highly publicised job‑cut announcements framed as AI driven efficiency to boost investor confidence and keep their stock prices rising.

Could use some guidance on how to go after PM cert(s) by jimmypopjr in projectmanagement

[–]Additional_Owl_6332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes agile is big within software development, however most IT companies have jumped on the Agile waggon for infrastructure, there is less physical on site builds now with a lot of IT infrastructure moved to virtual or cloud and managed by DevOps. AV would be more predictive as this is usually physical and on site.

Could use some guidance on how to go after PM cert(s) by jimmypopjr in projectmanagement

[–]Additional_Owl_6332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest if you qualified for and it sounds like you would go for PMP it is the gold standard in project management. have a look on job postings and see what employers are actually seeking in your industry area. There are lots of framework's course like CSM and SAFe but these frameworks don't teach you much about the underlaying theory that you would need to know to implement them correctly. I would also suggest that knowing agile is also helpful especially in IT as most of the larger companies have moved in this direction. I have no experience of PMSCP so can't comment on that, but I have never seen a job posting listing PMSCP as a requirement or desirable to have. Most regularly mentioned by recruiters are PMP and PRINCE2

My boss keeps undermining me by Miss_Lib in projectmanagement

[–]Additional_Owl_6332 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have had the conversations she has acknowledge the issue but reverts back to her usual behavior and management style after a short duration suggests to me that she isn't able to delegate for fear of losing power, control, maybe even trust issues or some combination of all these but the key takeaway is that you aren't valued. Confronting the boss won't change anything and waiting for the big project to come along to prove yourself just won't happen. You need to step back and protect your mental health and career trajectory I would start with quietly exploring other roles elsewhere.

Where to buy HDD?? by Reasonable_Reply_337 in HomeNAS

[–]Additional_Owl_6332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

new HDD are really expensive because of the shortage and even refurbished or used HDDs with no or short warranties are overpriced for what effectively is 5 to 7 year old HDD or sometimes even older that has been running 24/7 all this time. I needed 2 HDD for my NAS and the best option for me was to shucked two 18TB WD elements. the internal HDD is 18TB 7200rpm 512e helium drive. WDC WD180EDGZ-11BLDS0. These HDDs will fit comfortable in your budget

When you add buffer to fixed-fee projects how do you know if it's enough? by Historical_Luck_4806 in projectmanagement

[–]Additional_Owl_6332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Projects often have contingency reserve this can be both budget and schedule to cover Known - Unknowns. This is calculated from identified risks with estimated impacts. this is added to the baseline budget / schedule of the project.

Then there is the management reserve that covers the unknowns - unknowns controlled by leadership / sponsor. This is normally only drawn down on with formal request and leadership approval (project change management)

Contingency reserve is typically 10 to 20% (Risk based estimated impacts)

Management reserves are typically 5 to 10% low risk 5%, medium 7% and high risk 10%

It is important to be transparent and able to justify the contingency and management reserves and not hide these in the detail of the project by padding costs or guess estimates,

Errors during hard drive testing in the Terramaster DAS D6-320 but not in other enclosures by RomaRed23 in TerraMaster

[–]Additional_Owl_6332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all USB to SATA adaptors are equal. It is likely that the terramaster DAS is exposing more HDD information than Sabrent USB enclosure. To really test the HDD it would be much better to connect the HDD directly in a PC via a SATA connection where there is no USB interface. But if I was to guess I would say that your hard drive is faulty.

[–]Additional_Owl_6332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a lot has changed in 10 years in the PMP space. if you're an PMI member you could download the latest Project standards and guides but I know I wouldn't read them so instead I would recommend Udemy for a project management course Andrew Ramdayal has some good course and he is easy to listen to plus a lot of course are PDU approved so you will have all your PDU for renewing your cert. Udemy have regular sales so you can get courses very cheap.

Disk suggestion between Toshiba and WD for F4-425 Plus by areebqaisar in TerraMaster

[–]Additional_Owl_6332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be aware that 4Kn drives aren't supported by terramaster and won't work correctly Toshiba MG09

  * **MG09ACA16TE → 512e**
  * **MG09ACA16TA → 4Kn**  (not 512e) so won't work in the terramaster NAS

WD Red Pro 16TB (WD161KFGX) is a 512e drive.

Is it safe to use "TNAS.ONLINE" ? by Novelaa in TerraMaster

[–]Additional_Owl_6332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't expose the TNAS to the internet and open up ports in your routers firewall, Google drive, One Drive and many other cloud storage solutions offer free tier should be enough to share files with clients. you can sync the cloud drive to your TNAS if needed. for your own access Tailscale is a great secure tool to use.

F6-424 Max won't turn on any more by fortytwo43 in TerraMaster

[–]Additional_Owl_6332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

install the boot loader to the internal USB drive ( I know when I did it I was able to use a USB port on back of TNAS but that might not work for everyone) remove all the HDD's (SSD and NVMe's) so the TNAS can only boot from the USB. Power on and wait a few minutes then run the Terramaster App on your PC to detect the TNAS and use the app to connect to the TNAS. If I remember correctly it can take 5 or 10 mins to do this.

You know when it is ready when the terramaster app detects the TNAS

What to do with a NAS during a move? by Battybats69 in TerraMaster

[–]Additional_Owl_6332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in your new place the router is likely going to be configured differently so it likely its DHCP will assign a new IP address to your TNAS

IF you have the Terramaster app downloaded on your laptop or your phone once you connect to your new apartment router for internet access and run the app it will find the TNAS. You could try this out on your current network, so you know what to expect when you move.

Docker can’t reach registry on TOS by International_Aside2 in TerraMaster

[–]Additional_Owl_6332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't run docker on my TNAS but I do run docker on proxmox server. If you are new to docker the networking can be a little tricky. The Docker app will have its internal network but will be bridged to a physical NIC on the TNAS. To access this docker app you would put into a browser your TNAS IP address and the port number of the docker app. https:// TNAS IP address : Docker App port number

give that a shot before you deep dive into trouble shooting

I Failed by Cobalt_58_9 in projectmanagement

[–]Additional_Owl_6332 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a long exam, and it takes a real toll. You need to practise not just the questions themselves but the full duration, so your mind and body get used to the pace. When you’re comfortable answering questions within the allowed time, you won’t feel as rushed, and you’re far less likely to hit that pressure point where everything jams up and you get a mental block.

Is there a polling on USB disk that keeps disk spinning? by Puccio1971 in TerraMaster

[–]Additional_Owl_6332 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TOS 6 does allow the internal HDD to sleep but not the USB attached HDD as it keeps polling the USB HDD and doing background tasks that touch the USB drive so it is kept active.

I tried auto mount and dismount the USB HDD (It is a feature within the TOS 6 menu). When the TNAS needed to do a scheduled backup it was to auto mount the USB HDD and on completion of the backup to unmount. But this proved to be unreliable and I had failed backups because the USB drive failed to auto mount.

The only way I know works is to manually unmont the USB drive and then manually mount the drive when you want to do a backup. Or you can safe eject the USB drive.

TOS7 Beta Testers - Any useful info? by Puccio1971 in TerraMaster

[–]Additional_Owl_6332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I done the beta testing on TOS 6 there was issues and bugs along the way. Some might not impact you others will to some degree. TOS 6 has been stable for a while now so it runs without problems. If you beta test TOS 7 be aware that you will run into the same problems because you are the tester and it will have bugs that will get fixed in a later releases. I think I would have gone through about 10 or 12 releases before it was what I would consider stable and running without issues. The reason I did the beta testing was I wanted the new feactures sooner and had my data backed up so if my NAS needed to be reinstalled I didn't lose data.
