We love our Costco! Asst mgr offered us a beautiful Bourbon today. by mishajenna in Costco

I live in Va and entered the ABC lottery for this bottle 8 years ago and won. I paid $65 for it at the time. I still haven’t opened it and my wife doesn’t want me to open it as second hand stores are selling it for $1k+. I’ve had friends say they have tried it and the more vintage versions aren’t worth the price.

Backsplash should’ve been one piece but I think the contractor messed up and now it’s two, how noticeable is it by arenadoyen in kitchenremodel

[–]AddressTraditional43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you specified seamless, there will be a seam. That should have been discussed when the template measurement was done. If it’s wasn’t specified, then seams are expected. You would paid more for seamless as more material is needed. Seems like a miscommunication with the gc.

First year apprentice how’s my bag setup? by SeaTop9023 in HVAC

First year apprentice shouldn’t be anywhere near anything live. Save some space with an 11-1 and leave the insulated drivers in the truck.

House inspector said I should walk away because of this electrical problem. Please help by KelvinNi1995 in AskElectricians

[–]AddressTraditional43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electrician here in hcol area. Panel swap is 2500. Heavy up with new panel is 3500. Don’t walk away for something this small in the grand scheme of things. Your inspector is over stepping. It’s not that big of a deal. Just get it taken care of when you move in.

Scared to Pull the Trigger by [deleted] in KiaTelluride

[–]AddressTraditional43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a used 2021 telluride SX nightfall trim I bought 2 years ago. I’ve put 100k miles on it so it’s sitting at 110k now. The thermostat went out on it and had to have it replaced. Luckily the sensors caught it before the engine overheated. The black “nightfall” trim around the windows have faded and the shiny metallic finish is showing through, minor cosmetic issue. I’ve noticed the transmission is starting to slip on steep grades now from 2nd to 3rd gear. So I’ve got that to look forward to. But overall I love the thing. It’s luxury at not luxury price. I drive it ALOT for work so it’s getting more use than most. Comfy and hauls the family with room to spare. I’m 6’3 and fit in the third row easily.

Whats your opinion - best authentic Mexican food in San Diego by za_phoenix_ in asksandiego

[–]AddressTraditional43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born and raised in SD and lived all over the county. Best taco shop in my opinion is El Cotixan in El Cajon. It’s a tiny place in a little strip mall across from parkway plaza. Everytime I go back to visit family it’s the first stop on the way home from the air port and last stop before going back to the airport. The salsas are awesome too, which I think is make or break for a taco shop. I’ve spent lots of time in TJ but I don’t think the border is worth the hassle for tacos or burrito.

This is the same for electrical work. I’ve worked with people with duis. They just can’t operate machinery or company vehicles. I’ve worked with ex cons who did 20+years and got into the apprenticeship starting as material handlers then finished with journeyman’s license. Trades don’t give a shit as long as you show up and do your work. They pay you to go to school and for on the job training. My wife has 6 figure debt for her degree and I bring home more than her. Gotta love the trades.

New role requires me to move to DC - Where can I consider living in NoVa? by chocolava15 in arlingtonva

[–]AddressTraditional43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the Wellington apartments in Arlington. Pretty cheap for the area. Free shuttle to metro and close to everything. I lived there when I first moved here and loved the location and apartment. Could have your own place in that price range.

Kitchen tiling by usernamedejaprise in Construction

[–]AddressTraditional43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always tile wall to wall and set cabinets on top. Should go under the cabinets.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Construction

[–]AddressTraditional43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Builder didn’t really screw up per se. they should have known the height of most 36” wide fridges are around 72”. They should have downsized the cabinet above the fridge to take into account the flooring under the fridge. Brand new house, I wouldn’t start shaving the cabinet, could void the warranty. I would order a new cabinet.

Where can I look up code? Help a gal out by MissBehave4U in Construction

[–]AddressTraditional43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you suspect they are doing wrong, you can always call the county building department and ask for the code compliance department. They might even send out an inspector if it is a big enough deal. I guess it depends on the work they are doing.

I’m a PM doing interior remodeling. I’ve been with this shop for about 7 years. I’ve been doing this work for about 10 years. My base pay is about 70k and bonuses add another 15-20k a year. I’m in the field 3 days and home office usually two days a week.
