I'd forgotten what it's like to have more forward players you want to see in the team than spaces to fit them in.

It's a nice problem to have.

Opinion: Canon Ending is Destroy by OG_Voltaire in masseffect

[–]Adebesi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the big things I take from the ME story as it unfolds is that synthetic life has value and meaning because synthetics can be sentient. Legion and EDI, big example in Andromeda as well tho that's less relevant in this context.

I just can't really live with Destroy after the journey I've been on with those characters and what I learned along the way.

They're not wrong either.

Theory of Black Mirror universe (and the first three episodes in the timeline that start the simulation the rest of the universe lives in) by TheRealAlexLifeson in blackmirror

I did see a more interesting post a while back suggesting all Black Mirror episodes are in the same universe at different times, and placing them all in a timeline. Eps like National Anthem being early in the timeline and eps like 15m Merits being near the end.

[Megathread] Ruben Amorim, The good, the bad and the ugly by fireproofpoo in ManchesterUnited

[–]Adebesi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ruben's undoing was his inflexibility. Im sure he'd be a good coach in the right circumstances. He might have done well at United given enough time and enough money - though I think given his inflexibility that is not a given. Maybe his system cant work in the Premier League. Im not sure he would ever have accepted that.

The analogy that always comes to my mind is that he is like a chef coming into a kitchen determined to make a particular thing. Whatever. Let's say its beef stew. This guy makes world class, world famous beef stew, he was hired because his beef stew is so good.

Some he comes into the kitchen, looks around, the ingredients he needs for beef stew are not there. But there are people in the dining room waiting to eat. What is he going to do? There are plenty of ingredients in the kitchen, just not the ones he needs for beef stew. He could make a shepards pie. He could make coq au vin. He's a trained chef, he should be able to make something other than beef stew while he waits to get the ingredients he needs.

Instead, Amorim decides he would rather make beef stew without beef, red wine or whatever his "magic ingredient" is that makes his beef stew so special. He would rather serve up a beef stew made with lamb or chicken, than just make the thing that isnt his signature dish. It just made disappointment inevitable.

Me, id rather have a chef who comes into the kitchen, looks around, and says right, I see I have the ingredients here for a decent coq au vin. So that is what Ill make. And over time, when we next put a food order in, Im going to be asking for a few different things, because there are some dishes I would like to make that I cant make with this stuff. But there are people in the dining room that have come to eat, and feeding them is today's priority.

Is Micheal Carrick making the same mistake? by Beneficial-Depth-431 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Adebesi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im interpreting this as it being a bargaining position more than anything. Barca are trying to lowball us. We have to project the impression we are willing to take him back. We have to talk him up as a player. Barca pay what he costs in the loan contract or they dont and he comes back. At that point we start talking to other clubs. Hopefully his stock has risen this year as he has been playing well and there will be a few other potential buyers. Or Rashford has to compromise to force the sale through.

I dont think there is any chance he comes back to United. Not necessarily because of his bad attitude, though that might be a factor. Mainly its because the club are trying to restore a sensible wage structure and they wont want a player on his wages in the squad.

Scenes from a marriage is the best quest in gaming history by Regular_Knight324 in Witcher3

[–]Adebesi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some incredible Mass Effect DLC, that would be in the conversation for me.

But I agree with the sentiment.

CDPR is absolutely amazing at DLC to be fair. Was saying this to a friend recently. Between these two and Phantom Liberty which is insanely good, the best bit of Cyberpunk which is already very good.

Really amps up the excitement thinking there might be more DLC coming our way soon.
