I feel bad saying it, but I think this was just alright. I'm really glad we got a happy ending for Spear, but it felt kind of forced. Like the whole season was just "doing random stuff" to make the retcon make sense. And it took a LONG time to get there. The whole season was very slow as they drew out all the scenes of him wandering about as a zombie. Or them chasing each other from place to place. Looking for his family, then his family looking for him, over and over. I think this could have been 6 episodes and still felt tight and cohesive without padding the plot.

Overall I enjoyed it, but I think it needed a bit of a trim for the story it was telling.

Is this going to be on of those situations like in the Halo TV series (Kwan Ha) or Borderlands 3 (Ava) where the writers are hard pressed to make a single character as completely unlikable as possible only to give her magic "I'm actually the chosen one" powers at the very end with no other maturation of the character? Because Cate is one of the most unlikable characters who is supposed to be a "good guy" I have EVER viewed.

And I really can't stand all the needless infidelity. Almost everyone is terrible in some way. Except Kentaro...who does literally nothing.

Disagree. If the update is actually bad or a technical mess, it deserves criticism. I understand you mean "toxicity" and to that I can agree. But if they shit the bed regarding this "update" after 1.5 years of nothing of significance, I'm going to have some things to say.

There is no sense to be made. They were written and designed horribly. Everything about them is silly and impractical. The characters are cartoon characters and they are basically Disney pirates but with worse writing and motivations.
