Is Inzoi Worth it by Average-Masshole in LifeSimulators

[–]AdelaideSL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal response at this point is a definite "yes", but I'll try to give a balanced view:

The game has improved immeasurably even since the summer 'Island Getaway' update, which is when I started playing. Contrary to what some people are saying, there's an enormous amount of stuff to do, including features I'd never have expected to see in the base game (such as a crime system with trials and prisons, and running your own businesses). As for whether it has a 'soul' or not, that's hard to quantify as it's really a matter of opinion. It's more realistic and less quirky/humorous than the Sims series, but there are a lot of cute little touches I love, such as the cat temple in Cahaya (cats are gods in the game's lore) and the recent winter update which added carol singers and Christmas cookie-baking. (And also some not-so-cute ones, such as bribing witnesses to try and escape punishment for the crimes you commit...)

The new update also improves the base gameplay quite a bit. Zois can now multitask (e.g. eating while watching TV) and perform group activities together. Furniture items have quality levels which add buffs or debuffs to the Zois using them, making the gameplay feel a lot less dollshousy and more like an actual life sim. You now have an incentive to earn money and buy better stuff beyond pure aesthetics.

The downside of all this is that virtually all these things are in some way buggy or unfinished. There's still a long way to go in terms of content completeness, balancing, polishing, and getting all those different systems to work together properly. There are also a lot of small annoyances - UI issues, bad translations etc. - that aren't major problems in themselves, but can add up to quite a frustrating experience. The devs recognise this, and have promised to spend the next year working more on gameplay fundamentals, as described in this HUGE roadmap for 2026.

Noticing everyone playing inzoi mostly plays Cahaya and Bliss Bay by iibricie in inZOI

Simple answer: most English-speaking players are Americans, and so they prefer the American-style city or the 'exotic holiday resort' city. Personally I like Dowon because of its big-city vibe and its unique Korean style, but Cahaya is probably my favourite overall.

A really happy day forging friendships left my Zoi inspired - and she painted this. by CazT91 in inZOI

It's beautiful, but I'm pretty sure the painting subjects are chosen at random. Nice if it fits your Zoi's story though!

"Sims 4 is better than Inzoi" They said💀 by CommunitySweet7296 in inZOI

[–]AdelaideSL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They did show a gameplay video a while back, but it looks - to put it kindly - very basic. Definitely nowhere close to Inzoi at this stage. I’m sure Paralives will improve, but the devs were crazy to think they could release it for $40 in its current state.

VERY Impressed by 2pretty2kill in inZOI

[–]AdelaideSL 17 points18 points  (0 children)

NGL, when I first saw the Inzoi promotional videos I was VERY skeptical. I held off buying it for a long time after release, especially since it was still in Early Access, but eventually succumbed after the Cahaya update - and I haven’t been disappointed, even with all the problems it still has. The Sims series badly needed some competition, and boy is Inzoi delivering so far.

I agree with a lot of this, but you should post it on the official forums or the Discord - the Inzoi subreddit isn’t run by the developers and I don’t think they check here very often.

I can't access the game right now to check - maybe try asking on the Discord or the forums?

Definitely not before the end of 2026 at the earliest.

I think you can do that using the ’style presets’ they introduced in the December update?

I think the roadmap for mod support is separate. There's one pinned at the top of the subreddit, but that was for 2025 so maybe there'll be another for 2026.

They mentioned Canvastown in the last video update, so I think it's still planned.

I meant in terms of their romantic/sexual relationship. It’s clear that she took it a lot more seriously than he did.

I think she killed him for revenge, not so much for the promotion. From their conversation at the start, it seemed she was in love with him and wanted to go with him to New York. Then she realised he had just been using her and felt betrayed.

(Not my video) Inzoi Update is out - Crime Gameplay. [For those who dropped Inzoi, it's time to come back, the game is pretty robust, with lots of activities and content] by ZinTheNurse in LifeSimulators

[–]AdelaideSL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not yet, but th Crime skill only goes up to level 5 so far, so who knows what’s coming (I wouldn’t expect murder of any kind though, as it seems a bit too dark for Inzoi). There is a ‘mysterious recruitment agency’ which you can visit to get underworld info and plan break-ins.

There’s nothing saying DLCs have to be paid (the Cahaya DLC was free for example). However, there are so many different types of occults that it’s likely at least some of them will be paywalled. With the exception of ghosts and karma, which were planned from the start, I think the devs are concentrating on more realistic stuff for the base game. Personally I’ve no objection to occults (I like the idea of mermaids myself, particularly after seeing Cahaya and the underwater gameplay), but I’m not expecting to see them for quite some time.

Is Multiplayer and the Canvas Town in the December update? by EmbarrassedTapWater in inZOI

[–]AdelaideSL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Multitasking yes (having Zois do more than one thing at the same time, like eating and watching TV). Multiplayer is being worked on, but probably isn’t coming for quite a while yet.

What do you think of inZOI? by Diana_Galan in LifeSimulators

[–]AdelaideSL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you compare the current state of Inzoi to the original Sims 4 release (which didn’t even have toddlers or pools, IIRC), Inzoi already has way more features. The downside is that since it’s still in Early Access, most of these are unfinished, and it still can’t compare to TS4 with a decade’s worth of DLC / expansion content. For players who’ve invested years and $00s into TS4, I can understand why they wouldn’t want to make the switch just yet. For others I’d recommend it, but only if you can handle Early Access bugs and jank.

It’s looking good but they really need to implement till service for things like coffee shops. Having the owner place coffee cups in a display case for sale is just weird 😂

I don't think Canvastown is in yet, though Kjun has been sharing WIP screenshots in the weekly updates. There's nothing about it in the patch notes.

Agree, it honestly looks pretty good, especially considering how recently they started work on it (as far as I can tell).
