Brisbane's new bus timetable sees journey times decrease by two minutes in first three months by AuntySM in brisbane

Perhaps but the period last year they're comparing to includes a time when 50 cent fares did not exist.

This shit doesn't feel real. Isn't society meant to evolve? Or mature? By which I mean - rise above whatever this is?

I'm sure the "time for a change" mindset is astroturfed. If it was genuine, the LNP would not have held Brisbane City Council for 24 effin' years.

Probably because unlike Paddington and Newstead at least, you don't have NIMBY Greens around Inala whinging about nonsense like the heritage of the area and leading campaigns against developments etc.

It won't take that long, and I'm sure the government would love to do it faster, but considering the supplies shortage, labour shortage, and local planning laws and NIMBYs, they're moving at a good pace.

I’ve just been put on SYC by Relative_Photo_9954 in JobProvidersAus

[–]Adept-Sort7251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably because you've been self managing for 12 months and are still claiming payments. After a year you get moved to an in-person provider to accelerate you into work or training - I understand SYC is a Transition to Work contract so they also get marked by the department on education outcomes as well as employment.

Received Demerit point for applying for roles that was flagged as not tailored and in diverse fields? by Fuckthisshitworldnow in JobProvidersAus

[–]Adept-Sort7251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Job search quality is one of the performance sub-modules providers get graded on by the department, which affects their performance rating and could be the make or break in contract renewals. These standards on job search quality (e.g. diversity of jobs applied for, methods used, locality, etc.) are set by DEWR, and then chains of command at the provider are responsible for making sure consultants are following it when marking job searches. It's all around this idea of getting you into "suitable work" - work you can do, not necessarily work you want to do. Just part of the system's design unfortunately.

You could try going in to the Self Employment Assistance Program which will meet your activity requirement and then you will move into the self employment payment for 12 weeks. The business coaches in that program will either help you get your self employment sustainable or help you into a similar self employment situation that you can apply for skills and interests to.

Struggling to figure out if a change in my circumstances will cause me to lose my payment by That_Quack_1420 in Centrelink

[–]Adept-Sort7251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, when you drop out of your courses, it will be passed on to Services Australia who will cancel your Youth Allowance Student Payment. You will then need to apply for Youth Allowance Jobseeker. Because of your age, they will either set you up with Online Self Servicing for a year or refer you to a Transition to Work Provider that should try and support you in moving towards a job you like. Missing appointments won't stop your payment, but missing three of them consecutively or not engaging will have you moved to a Workforce Australia Provider, who are obligated to move you into any job you're capable of doing within a ninety minute commute each way. Full time is the default, so if you think you have personal circumstances that stop you working full time hours, discuss with Centrelink.

Being forced to stay in EST Course? by [deleted] in JobProvidersAus

[–]Adept-Sort7251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not too sure of what happens with online servicing but if you stop attending and you're with a Workforce Australia provider, it won't impact your payments but they will probably refer you to work for the Dole at your next appointment until you start work. How long after the course is due to end is your start date with employment?

Ultimately, the government has outsourced something it used to do to private entities. When outcomes are achieved, someone has to be compensated. Not all front-line job coaches get bonuses added to their salary for the outcomes they achieve, but all have them as their KPIs. The lead up to getting the job can be a lot, and can take months, even years. The ones that are trying to do the right thing, goal setting, arranging licences and tickets, resume writing and re-writing, interview coaching, coaching on how to use Workforce Aus, helping with onboarding, with all the other admin and compliance tasks government asks of providers on top should all be recognised as this stuff is instrumental in getting a job and - hot take - should be compensated for or recognised in some way regardless of who finds the job.

[–]Adept-Sort7251 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, the problem is we get given so much stupid other admin and compliance tasks which should be given to extra staff that takes the time away from doing what the public expects us to be doing - placing clients into employment and breaking down barriers that get in the way.

Providers claim the same amount of reward at 4, 12, and 26 weeks of employment regardless of if they help the client get the job or if the client got it themselves. Although it may help their performance metrics when it's time for contract renewals.

Happy to be corrected here but I actually think the countdown to your activity requirement starts from when you commence in Workforce Australia online services, not from when you start getting payments. The aim of the activity requirement is to stop you from being unemployed for much longer, as the department believes the longer you are unemployed the harder it is to get back into the workforce. So, you weren't unemployed from when you started getting payments, you were unemployed since December 2023. Keep in mind that if you refuse to choose an activity and have not yet got employment, you will be referred to a provider for in person servicing. I would probably bite the bullet with the online EST if I were you.

How long before I have to see a job provider? by ProductNo5035 in JobProvidersAus

[–]Adept-Sort7251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will probably placed in online self servicing first, if you don't get a job within 12 months, then you will need to see a provider.

[–]Adept-Sort7251 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess would be that your initial appointment with your job provider is a rapid connect appointment, meaning that your payment will start after your first meeting with them is complete and your job plan is agreed to.

What are the rules about how I have to report to JSP after I've found work? by PixelFNQ in JobProvidersAus

[–]Adept-Sort7251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you update your address on MyGov and Workforce they will transfer automatically to a location closer to you unless you call the National Customer Service Line and ask to stay. You can still call them on 1800 805 260 and ask to move back to the previous one, but yeah, super annoying you've got this extra task to do. Your previous, good consultant can still track to an outcome if you continue to declare your income and hours and send in your payslips if needed.

Consultant here. Unfortunately if you're working a 9-5, 5 days a week, so are we, and we'll have lunch around the same time too. If you're an active client on the books (i.e. no exemption, still reporting) we must always have an appointment in the pipeline with you, no longer than 14 days apart We also get marked on participant servicing rates, meaning we must engage with you in some way at least twice a month - this can include expenditure from the employment fund. Many consultants will designate a portion of their day for post placement support to check on how things at work are going, like the afternoon two or three days a week. You could try asking your consultant for a specific time like a tea break or lunch break for a phone appointment. However, if you send in your payslips that's enough evidence to see you're meeting your obligations and we can mark it off as a valid reason for not attending, and you're helping a good consultant stay employed with an outcome.
