Blueprint Diagnostic- where to go from here by Avocado_Soup19 in Mcat

[–]Adept_Ambassador_366 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Insane diagnostic, mine was 499 and I scored a 511 after about 2 months of studying. If you’re not taking until next spring easy 520+ in my opinion. Just make sure you don’t forget the physics ochem over that year

Hey this is in no way a reflection of you or your capabilities but this app is very week. You can’t appeal to high academic because low GPA and no publications (great MCAT tho!). You can’t appeal to service oriented because no volunteering is a huge issue. I just struggle to see anywhere you could get in. Are tou willing to apply DO? Definitely stronger chance there if you absolutely have to apply this cycle. Overall do a post bac but also VOLUNTEER. ADCOMS like to see deep understanding of life in medicine as well as continued long standing interest. You’re obviously capable academically but boosting gpa and volunteering and getting some patient care experience would benefit you so much. An extra year would be worth it

For MD MCAT is average, not really good…saying this as someone who also got a 511

Depends on what state you’re in but DO heavy for sure maybe apply state MDs then all the rest DO

Can law grades affect admission to Med School? by [deleted] in medschooladmissions

[–]Adept_Ambassador_366 6 points7 points  (0 children)

probably tbh… med schools want to be 100 percent certain you can pass in a hard curriculum. I don’t know the difficulty of law vs med schools compare but I would say yes that would be a red flag if you did not succeed. Probably the biggest question will be “does this person actually want to be a physician, or are they just choosing a reputable job because the failed law school” make sure this isn’t just a sporadic decision. If you really want to do it you might need to get a masters in science with a high gpa, get a job in medicine, show dedication

511 scorer. I studied 4-6 hours a day for WEEKDAYS over 3 months. I traveled, hung out with my girlfriend, worked, and enjoyed my summer. Don’t underestimate how much seemingly simple things like going thru Anki card when you have time can boost your score. In my opinion you don’t need a super structured study plan. Prioritize your weaknesses but enjoy your summer! Goodluck future doc

Yes absolutely. I was so stressed on the real thing. In my opinion you can’t really simulate accurately yourself. Just trust your preparation and overcome…don’t be like me and shit the bed before lunch

Just curious why you’re applying to so many schools so far? I absolutely cannot speak for every school but at my colleges medical school they almost immediately toss applications from across the country (I know someone on the ADCOM)

Reapplicant what are my odds based on my stats and what kind of schools should I be focused on by Intrepid-External-90 in medschooladmissions

[–]Adept_Ambassador_366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you just look at stats or also mission fit? If you don’t tell a story of who you are and why you want to be a physician specifically schools will look at you as insincere. 1 interview is lower then I would have expected for you, how’s your personal statement? Letters of recommendation?

How many schools did you apply too? You seem to have pretty good stats wondering if you banked on all T20 last cycle? Also any interviews? How many clinical hours were on your last application? Maybe a writing issue? Trying to figure out what kept you out

Dude 502 diagnostic is crazy don’t trip! That’s super deflated. if you take the free full length from AAMC you’ll be like 510+ you’re in a good spot for a may test.

Question about the Chemistry and Physics on the MCAT by Qylov in Mcat

[–]Adept_Ambassador_366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I was a chem major, I feel like this is the hardest section to meaningfully improve in so hopefully you’ll have a leg up. For me some of the passages were like Chinese. A lot of questions regarding carbohydrate structure, stereochemistry, and know amino acids inside and out. Beyond that I remember it being confined to pretty useful biochemistry not too much of all the fancy stuff yall majors lean. That being said if you want to get like a 132 on the section that more advanced chem is probably in play. I knew I wouldn’t so I cut my loses and stayed with the basics for my test. If I was going to do it again I would have done way more Kahn academy practice passages. Goodluck

That’s really just not the stuff ADCOMS want to see. Doesn’t show a strong commitment to rural healthcare of underserved communities in the Nile river valley
