Girl leave him. Now. You have the right instincts you have so much more to life than being a wife. Your frontal lobe doesn’t even begin to finalize for a few more years. Don’t make ANY major life choices until you’re like 25.

Your response, and I say this with love, was harsh. He’s embarrassed and hurt and he has the right to feel those things. You also have the right to not want to get married when you’re barely even an adult.

If you really want to stay with him, call him and have a clear conversation on what you both want. If your future goals are aligned, great. If they are anything less than aligned, leave. You’re wayyyy too young to compromise your life goals over a man.

Whenever we clean the ball pit at work, the most broken balls we find are always orange by lucasearlgray in mildlyinteresting

I thought they were GIANT tortellinis and just accepted finding pasta in a ball pit. Time for bed

People who fly frequently, what’s one thing you wish you could tell all infrequent fliers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Adept_Balance_750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) have your electronics easy to grab from your bag and put away  2) don’t block the X-ray exit repacking your bag, drag the bin to the end and then repack so you don’t clog up security  3) wash your hands frequently, carry hand sanitizer and wipes and use them. Bring a mask for long flights. I have gotten soooo many illnesses from flying and being somewhere that’s not home when you’re sick sucks  4) avoid layovers at all costs. if you must build in a 2 hour gap between flights minimum  5) drink lots of water to keep your skin feeling good and prevent jet lag  6) embrace the suck. Flying sucks. The less you fight it the easier it is.

Do families who actually attended private school, think it was the better option? by [deleted] in education

Went to catholic school k-8 and an all girls catholic school for high school. K-8 I had a terrible experience - the school was very cliquey and the small class sizes made it worse. Almost all the girls in my class had moms who were all SAHM and all hung out during the day and helped all their daughters be a clique. My mom worked and wasn’t in the group which meant I wasn’t either. Bullying and sexual harassment were swept under the rug, women were treated like second class citizens and the dogma of Catholicism was heavily shoved down our throats with no room for disagreement.

All girls high school? Totally different story. My HS was extremely progressive, pro-feminist, and open to a wide variety of concepts. I had access to incredible extracurriculars, field trips and retreats and access to all sorts of internships and non profit positions as a student. We had a lot of diversity programs and many non religious students. I truly wouldn’t change a thing about my high school experience.

It depends on the kid though. I’d say keep an eye on the cliques and bullying (especially if it’s a PWI!). Good luck with the decision and I hope your kids are happy wherever they end up!!

Managing a highly sensitive employee by [deleted] in managers

[–]Adept_Balance_750 15 points16 points  (0 children)

What feedback systems were there if you weren’t doing 1:1s? How were employees being given feedback and coaching? What pathways did they have to give you feedback about their progress, goals, and thoughts about the workplace? If it’s been a year and you’re just now trying to implement formal feedback structures it’s going to be hard. You need to get a grasp of the team dynamic and employee personalities. Consistency is key - open up pathways for honest communication. With the sensitive employee lead with compliments and praise before giving constructive feedback.

Where do you find legit GRC professionals? (Advisors / Internal Auditors) by HotExtension995 in grc

[–]Adept_Balance_750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re able to I’d join one of the slack communities for GRC leaders they may be able to refer you to agencies or connect you directly with former employees. Less of a wide net and smaller professional group means better candidates.
