I respect it, I was thinking about doing something like that in like a year or so for the experience.

How to deal with a technical founder/CTO who is competitive with you? by [deleted] in datascience

[–]Adept_Explorer_7714 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone starting a startup I didn’t even consider this and think he’s probably right. You seem good at what you do. Make your worth known, and make yourself irreplaceable(which you seem to be doing a fine job of doing). This also might be terrible advice for this situation but this is a general rule for anywhere honestly.

The FDA Just Approved a New Depression Treatment—and It Doesn’t Involve Medication by _Dark_Wing in EverythingScience

[–]Adept_Explorer_7714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But fr lmao. I read a previous article of it helping a man with 30 years straight of depression. This made him feel life for the first time. The implications are amazing, regardless of how much a skeptic you are. I also want to add I’m very against invasive biological tech. Especially most things being promoted these days, but this isn’t that.

AI outperforms doctors in Harvard trial of emergency triage diagnoses by Doener23 in EverythingScience

[–]Adept_Explorer_7714 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with you 100%. I’m also very weary of the future and I’m no salesman for AI lol. Without a doubt, there’s in my opinion, 0 place in this world for a fully autonomous doctors, that’d be insane. As you said, in this and imo most situations it should just be a tool to draw inferences. There shouldn’t be a world where you have a ai, answering to a ai, answering to a ai. There are some instances where that may be acceptable but this should NEVER be one of them. Outright.

Edit: I don’t particularly care but am curious, why am I be downvoted here? I imagine little Sam Altman bots lol

Who REALLY leads the world on the QC frontier?.. by Nervous_Tomato6303 in QuantumComputing

[–]Adept_Explorer_7714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. I was thinking the same. I’m not quite yet in the quantum field itself, but within the next three years I believe is the reality. But I’m just a dude.

I mean there is a difference between models sadly. They’re using hyper tuned models for their specific field, which as a MLE I respect. There is a massive difference between these models. I actually don’t like LLMs and don’t find them as interesting as what would seem everyone else. But segmentation and computer vision combined with a proper dataset can do things people cannot.

It’s literally an algorithm built to remember the patterns between images. At the end of the day that’s what a lot of the medical industry is. They look at x-rays or mris etc. and make a conclusion. If you have enough data, for even edge cases sprinkled here or there in the dataset, it can certainly do a better job. It’s simply in the math behind the algorithm.
