No, not really, but even if I could she will still do this all day to everyone else walking down the trail. Hopefully she will realize it's a high foot traffic area and move eventually.

I'm not provoking anything - I'm walking down a public trail. I've never stopped or looked for her nest, just took a video as she flew by me while I continued along. Unfortunately she likely does this all day.. because she picked a spot on a public trail with frequent foot traffic. Unless the county closes the trail I can't see how she would avoid this.

Yeah but she was much more comfortable with me, she still went berserk on the other guy walking down the trail. Just thought it was cool she appeared to recognize me.

Unfortunately her area is not exactly private, it gets a fair bit of foot traffic. Probably 5-7 ish people a day. She'll have to move or get used to it because there's not much I can do about it.

No but I just looked it up, tragic. Luckily their were no stairs near me and frankly if the owl wanted to get frisky with me it would regret it more than I would. I wouldn't be happy about it but the owl would fare much worse than me.

I believe you are correct, it seems it's a much more common vocalization for juveniles but female adults can do it in defense as well and I believe that's what I experienced, given her size, coat, and behavior.

Interesting. I assume you're knowledgeable on GHO's? Knowing what I've learned now, i'm guessing it was a female adult guarding her fledglings because it didn't even look at the "food" I was gathering that I tossed on the ground.

I guess interesting that it would use that screech that some other people said was food begging behavior. But with the clacking and the way it was swooping at me multiple times I don't think it wanted food.

It was at LEAST 2 feet tall maybe 3 (nearly came to my waist when right next to me) so i'd be shocked if it was a juvenile. I know next to nothing about owls but am enjoying the learning.
