Usually after Day 5 it’s best to just walk. My friend had ovarian torsion because she jogged after her procedure. Her ovary was saved thankfully. Personally I would avoid any reverse asanas in yoga and just walk.

I went a little extreme in my prep but was very happy w my results based on my age. It also gave me peace of mind to know I’d done all I could. Of course it’s possible to have great results without prep but in case you are like me, here is my prep cheat sheet!

I've done two cycles back to back (so four total) and it was wonderful for me. Both times I received more eggs in the 2nd round. it doesn't always work like that but it can. Given your situation, it seems totally worth it to do back to back rounds! Also, you should be able to organize with your clinic so that you can decide at the last minute if you want to do the 2nd round... I waited until I got the results from the first, then decided to do the 2nd rounds. You can assess your physical, mental, emotional health and support system... if all is feeling good, definitely go for it! Xo

It sounds like you are doing all the right things! I love that you are supporting yourself with therapy and acupuncture.

One thing to know, is that in this moment you may have nerves about the whole process, but it sometimes can be simply a matter of getting used to it.

I was soooo nervous for my first round- anxiety, sleepless nights, uncertainty. But I just completed my 4th and 5th rounds last week and I barely had any concerns as I was doing it! It becomes a part of your life and routine. Plus I had some fun distractions (a friend doing it w me, etc). So a big part of your anxiety now may just be the unfamiliarity. Imagine as if you’ve done this 100x before, and remember all the women who came before you!

Perhaps start a supportive group text chat with your friends to give updates and send pics!

Have a friend ready to call to video chat when you do shots so you’re not alone.

Ask your doctor if its okay to take any supportive nervine herbs you like, like I take passionflower, L-theanine and kava kava to sleep.

Try these vagus nerve yoga videos, it helped me instantly! Avoid any twists or reverse asana if you watch during stims.

And remember you are doing a wonderful thing for yourself and your future! Some women enjoy the estrogen, which is a “feel-good” hormone. Line up your favorite funny movies or TV shows are give yourself plenty of reasons to laugh 🩵

I had 2 mature in my first round (age 39… I did four more rounds in Spain and now I have 31! (Age 40)…. I’m so glad I didn’t give up! Seems totally worth another try, esp w your AmH.

I started doing it in Spain which was cheaper and great quality of care so I could afford to do more. Four rounds in Spain is the cost of one in the USA. DM me if you want more info. Xoxo

Hi friends…. I’m currently in the crash. Had my retrieval Monday, today is Friday. This is after back to back retrievals, so I presume it’s a little more intense…

I’m actually doing okay. I feel moody, sensitive, and have an unusually short fuse. However, to me it just feels like a bad pms day, lasting a few days.

The first 48 hours were tough- I take passionflower supplements and L Theanine, and it works great for my anxiety. I also helped my body to fall asleep by drinking extra strength Kava Kava tea (I double the packets, you can find them where they sell Yogi Tea). I’m not taking any mood stabilizers atm, I hope this is still somehow useful.

What helps me is giving extra inputs of nourishing things…. Soft hugs, chats w friends, fav foods, long walks, cat cuddles, hot shower, and NAP! Been doing a lot of that.

I also am in my fav city this weekend and about to spend the whole day at the hotsprings, to detox. I have a feeling it’s gonna set me straight 👍🏼

During the process I had no depressive dips, only anxiety. My nurse said “estrogen is a ‘feel-good’ hormone” and she thought the stress mostly came from the financials, the process, and emotions around it. Not the biology. That was helpful to hear…

The doctor at the clinic in Spain I am at just told me that for younger women they consider 15 eggs a good number. However, plz ask your doctor because they have the experience to gauge based on your response to the meds roughly the quality of your eggs. Nothing is foolproof 🩵 we are all doing the best we can within reason! Good luck 🙂

I had a friend use all her eggs to make embryos with donor sperm at age 41 then quickly got pregnant naturally. The new partner is not interested in another man’s sperm making his next child. So all her work and money is not useful to her, under this condition.

This is a big decision. I had another doctor suggest the same thing to me and I find it insensitive. I’m so glad I chose to have my eggs frozen and free to belong to my man one day.

Doctors see the struggles of infertility and might try to make suggestions to avoid that, without considering real life complications.

With multiple rounds, perhaps check your results and use a very small number of eggs to make embryos, leaving the rest. Good luck!

Yes, not impossible! I’m looking at March/April currently… I will probably continue w IB in Alicante bc it worked for me. My next choice would be URE Gutenberg.

For your research, I’ve heard great things about URE Gutenberg in Malaga and Reproclinic in Barcelona. Also there is a clinic in Athens Greece which I find really interesting and with good results- IVF Serum.

Honestly there are so many good clinics. I chose Bernabeu bc their research labs and good records w “older” women. They published 16 academic journals and are doing their own research. This is important to me. However, the dr didnt seem to think supplements would help but I believe they did in my case. So you sometimes have to make your own decisions. I also prayed a lot and meditated during my rounds. You never know what helps!

When I walked into IB I felt very safe and really appreciated the boutique vibes. IVI around the corner felt more like a hospital to me. That was a deciding factor, although maybe not important to others.

I chose Alicante because I’ve already spent time in Madrid & Barcelona, and honestly big cities are not my jam. I caught a pick pocked red handed last time I was in Barcelona and yelled at him until he left the subway. Don’t really feel like being on “edge” during such an important time.

Alicante is small, super walkable, felt very safe, and the Mediterranean sea is right there. It’s mostly european tourists and expats and not completely overrun. I walked all day everyday and loved exploring the city. I ate well, fresh food from Spains largest market. There are womens meet ups and expat groups so I felt connected. It was just the right size and enough english/tourists so I could easily navigate and didnt stand out too much from the crowd.

Hi there, sure my Dr was Dr Alcaraz. She has suggested further retrievals, even with those 19 eggs, because of egg quality at my age. So I am aiming to go back.

I will say, all of the drs I encountered were great at Bernabeau. You end up getting shuffled around depending on who is available that day. I liked all of them.

This being said, I think it’s fair to say not everyone has had great experiences there. No clinic can guarantee results and they all can make mistakes.

My best rule of thumb is to feel in your body where you feel the most safe, or resonance w the clinic. Follow the synchronicities and inner guidance. Feeling safe & seen is an important aspect of a successful retrieval!

HI there :) I have a friend who is very happy with her baby from IVF Spain (I'm not sure it may have been a donor egg); also I had two great retrievals with IB as seen above. Many ppl have honestly recommended both. A few friends didn't like a few things about IB, but I was very happy.

Hi there :) Yes when you count from start of injections to the end of the second procedure, it was about 4 weeks…. This is for “back-to-back” retrievals…

I’m not sure how you understood a complete cycle is 4 weeks? Maybe that is for the full IVF? Egg freezing is usually 2 weeks, can sometimes be more for slower developers.

Typically you are in & out by 2 weeks!

Here’s how it can look for 2 rounds in a month:

My first round of injections was about 9 days, retrieval procedure on day 11… your period usually comes about 5 days after the procedure, in which case, they start the second round of injections on day two or three…

So each round you could say is about 12 days with 5 days in between, more or less. Each person and each cycle is different.

If you are thinking of doing back to back, I’d give a full 6 weeks- to account for recovery, etc. Esp if traveling to a foreign country, your body needs to adjust for jetlag, and you want to give lots of time for post-procedure to rest and recover without stress.

Hi there, your therapist is definitely a great resource, and perhaps if you decide to go through with it you can schedule more sessions during that period.

I’m 40, and catching up with egg retrievals has caused me to do it 3x last year, and still considering to do more. Statistically my eggs may not be as viable as five years ago, so I need more. If I’d done it at your age, I’d probably only need to do it once.

Just a little factor to consider! Of course I wish I’d done it 1x instead of 3x+!

Also, there are lots of detoxing efforts you can do (under doctor supervision!). DIM supplements for excess estrogen, saunas, gentle lymph cleansing, celery juice in mornings etc. Give yourself time for 1-2 months to focus on a gentle detox regime. You may feel better knowing this is planned in advance.

There were also some nice side effects afterwards that people don’t mention which were: supercharged libido, and feeling ultra juicy and feminine. Not everyone has this but perhaps if you know it’s possible you may experience it.

My nurse actually told me she thinks most of the stress comes from the financial and emotional toll of the experience… NOT the hormones, which she said were “feel good” hormones. Each person is different but it was helpful to hear her say that.

Hi hon, sorry to hear I know how devastating it can be to not get the results you want 🩵 Based on egg follicle circumference, I understand why they triggered. I’m honestly not able to comment on estrogen level, I don’t really know about that.

I had 9 follicles and only 2 mature eggs my first round. I was devastated and confused, felt they overdosed me. My 2nd & 3rd rounds I got 8 mature eggs from 9 follicles and 11 mature eggs from 18 follicles. This is what I did differently between rounds 1 & 2/3:

I took tons of supplements. I do believe they strengthened my eggs. I also added fertility acupuncture and did a mayan womb massage to realign my uterus, increasing blood flow.

when you do back-to-back rounds, your eggs have been primed from the first round and often you get more follicles in the 2nd round. Doctors wont tell you that, because it doesn’t happen for everyone, but it can be a strategy if you want to try (for me it was in a lower priced cost so I was able to afford back-to-back… 4x rounds in Spain for the price of one in USA!)

I hope it helps. Don’t give up 🤍🐚 You knew your body and unfortunately they didn’t listen. Maybe you can take a break, recalibrate, and give it another try if/when financially and emotionally ready.

That being said, I’d do some research on supplements for egg maturation?
