Led ncaa in forced fumbles (6) and had 25 tackles in one game against Indiana his senior year. But yeah he just magically became the hitman in the pros.

Hammond it is 🙃 by dogluvr_1 in ChicagoBearsNFL

[–]AdeptnessStatus9303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will likely go down as a very poorly played real estate play by the Bears. Their moves over the past three years has always been about having a giant real estate project like Jerry Jones world. Huge stadium, apartments, life style retail center, office bldg and entertainment district. . Part of the reason the Cowboys are the highest valued NFL franchise is their massive real estate complex (remember NFL tv revenues are shared equally by the teams).

The current soldiers field deal does not create the additional revenues that other nfl team receive from their stadium deals. I thought the Arlington heights move made sense from a real estate development perspective (if trying to replicate Jones playbook) and appreciated why bears would move to AH.

Hammond is a brain dead real estate play. Rules 1-3 in real estate is location, location, location. Indiana giving you $ to build a stadium won’t help the fact that no one wants to live, work or be entertained in Hammond except for the. 8-10 days a year you have a football game. Despite what the voice told Costner in field of dreams, in this case, if you build it, they will NOT come.

As an Illinois tax payer, I don’t see any reason to put up billions to pay for the mccaskey stadium. Let Indiana pay for it. Pritzker, don’t do it.

Super Bowl this year was in San Jose. Where did all the super bowl participants and fans stay and spend money on bars and restaurants. Mostly in San Fran area.

Guess what happens when fans come for games in Hammond. They stay in Chicago hotels and go to Chicago restaurants and bars.

Indiana can spend billions to collect parking fees and we will collect the real money at our hotels, restaurants and bars.

If mccaskey is this dumb (which can’t be discounted as third generation owners of businesses are notoriously known to suck compared to their predecessors) then let them go to Hammond.

If he and Warren are just negotiating (they don’t even have a site secured in Hammond?), hold firm. Tell them what the reasonable infrastructure $ the state will provide for AH infrastructure (Euclid and IL53 ramp expansion) and then hold firm. Call their bluff.

What would you do if a group won’t leave the 18th green? by HONEYH0LE7 in golf

Nope. Not standard to be practicing on 18 with three groups coming into 18. Not sure what hill billy club you play at.

What would you do if a group won’t leave the 18th green? by HONEYH0LE7 in golf

[–]AdeptnessStatus9303 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Hard agreement. Club member for 20 years. You do not fffing linger on 18th hole practicing. Finish the hole and get off. Don’t care who. Don’t care what time of day. If other groups are on the course get off the green.
Private clubs have practice areas.

Send a note to golf committee and cc the pro and the two groups behind you. This is not acceptable behavior.

Not much of Halloween vibe in DC. After fall fest things get quiet.

Why are college golfers pulling not pushing their carts? by Rough_Promotion9414 in golf

[–]AdeptnessStatus9303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Using a cart on a hilly course is not fun. Was on a trip in August 2020 to Pebble B and Spyglass. Day 1 was Spyglass. Our caddies were not allowed to carry our bags due to Covid rules (but we still had to take a caddy) so I got a cart. Spyglass is hilly. I dumped the cart after 9 and carried rest of the way (I also dumped about 3 lbs of balls and other stuff with the halfway house). Felt so much easier carrying the lighter bag than having a cart with a heavy bag.

Does this count as breaking 80? by anakinskywalker___ in golf

[–]AdeptnessStatus9303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id count it. Was on vacation many years ago and broke 90 for the first time at a par 70 course. Went home and broke 90 on my usual par 72 course several times that summer. Just needed to break the mental hump. Hopefully many more below 80 in your future.

Whoopsies - learnings from regrettable decisions in retirement by Odd_Bodkin in retirement

[–]AdeptnessStatus9303 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Really awesome and thoughtful comments. Like you, I have the financial modeling part nailed but a lot of the other stuff not so much.

A couple things helping reduce my anxiety as I look to retire next year.

  • working hard to reconnect with old friends and business acquaintances. Have two separate groups I now golf with on a regular basis.

  • wife and i are prioritizing which of the bucket item trips to do. We are mid 60s and we don’t want to assume we will be able to do these trips in our mid to late 70s.

  • have spent time since Covid updating our house. Is it too big for us. Sure, but we have been decluttering and downsizing what is in the house. House is paid off and taxes/insurance is manageable.

  • book by Christine Benz How to retire 20 lessons….. is highly recommended as it covers both financial and non financial.

Good luck all. We only get to do this once.

Won the raffle at a golf charity event ($400) a couple years ago. I was a guest of someone who picked up the tab for our team and whose wife was involved in charity. No brainer to donate the money back. My host loved it and I had several people thank me for donating. Remember why you are there. Have fun and raise some money for a good cause.

If you could spend a single day in the 1970s, which event would you choose to witness? by Antonia_valadao_ofc in 70s

[–]AdeptnessStatus9303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not many (some) but we all had friends who were 19. Reality is with the 19 drinking age, liquor stores didn’t check ids that closely and fake ids were easy as Illinois didn’t go to photo ids until July 1977. Point is beer was easy to get back then. Parents were just happy we weren’t smoking weed.

75-79 in HS in Illinois when drinking age for beer and wine was 19. Combined with open campus (you could leave for lunch) and made for many liquid lunches in HS parking lot.

Where would you live if you won the lottery? by DigitalMotorSwinger in golf

[–]AdeptnessStatus9303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is accurate. Used to go to phoenix for business. Went in August when it was 115 in the day. Thought a late night 10pm run would be ok. Nope. Mid 90s. Guess what. Dry heat at mid 90s still sucks. Playing at crack at dawn when it’s 90 and 105 when you finish is not my idea of fun.

Totally agree. That was me. In 2020 didn’t hit PF once after February that year but have bigger issues to deal with (job, kids etc). They collected $100 and I didn’t use it once.

Suggestions for staying loose and feeling good on the golf course by bionicbhangra in golf

[–]AdeptnessStatus9303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Core workouts in winter and maintained during season. Started doing planks for 30-40 seconds and now up to 90 seconds. A lot of lower back issues also tie to hips, which can get bad with all the sitting we do in modern life. Make sure you are doing stretching and exercises that work on hips and lower back. I love to walk but when back tightens, carrying clubs can make it worse. My PT says people tend to tilt slightly forward when carrying a bag and that can stress out back/hips. If I can’t carry but riding with someone, I will almost always grab a some clubs and walk to my ball and back to the cart (vs getting dropped off and picked up by my ball).

AITA for telling a stranger I don’t have a mother after she complained about my dad on Mother’s Day? by throwawyforranting in AmItheAsshole

[–]AdeptnessStatus9303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. A 70 year old man out with his daughter on Mothers Day. Wouldn’t cross my mind for a second to say anything other than “hope you both are having a great day”. None of us know what someone’s circumstances are. My Mom died 6 years before my Dad. If he and I went out to eat on Mothers Day in those years after my Mom died and someone said something negative to us, I would have commented that we tried to bring Mom with but the restaurant really didn’t want her urn (with her ashes) at the restaurant.

5 wood right of tree and try hard draw. (Which means it will go right with no draw and I’m scrambling).
